This is a second and third story suite with a separate ground-floor suite beneath it. While we didn't spare any expense on the insulation, it's still important to be thoughtful with excessive noise. Speaking of which, area venues and pedestrians are occasionally loud at night. It's not bad at all but for those super light sleepers out there -- we have earplugs :)
We live next door, across a large shared patio. We both work from home so we're extremely available to give you area advice, recommendations, take you on a bike ride or run, even to share a meal with you. However, we realize that some prefer solitude and rest. So we'll make it a point to get to know you -or- to protect your privacy and space.

Guestbook comments from the owner
The house was beautiful and well kept in a perfect location a short walk from downtown. The yard and hammocks were perfect for the spring weather in Austin. Anne was incredibly accommodating and proved to be a great host. They even left local drinks for us in the fridge and a welcome basket.

A Haven in an Eclectic 'hood
For being so close to the activity of the city, this house is surprisingly quiet and spacious. The decor reminds me of interior Mexico and the amenities are modern and well equipped. The house was very clean and the fooseball table is a great distraction for game lovers with a cute backyard/patio for hanging out. I love to bike as a means of travel and the location could not be more perfect to get to all the local hot spots and main tourist locations. I'll be coming back in the future for sure.
i love the central hacienda
our sxsw interactive geek group has been staying at the central hacienda for 3 years now and we absolutely love it. dan is incredibly easy going, the house is always in tip top condition and the neighborhood is eclectic and full of fun. the house is close to downtown, very comfortable and a great place for anyone who wants to know what it is like to live in austin. i cant say enough nice things about this place and about dan.
Perfect Austin Rental
This house is spacious and the bedrooms are all large. Our family of 6 had plenty of room. It was nice to have ceiling fans throughout the house and there is central air for when it is hot. The kitchen is gorgeous and clean. We were able to shop locally and prepare meals with ease. The layout of the house is really nice.
I love the location of this rental home. We walked from the house into downtown and up to the Capitol building one night. I also loved using the bikes that the owner provided to explore Austin. There's a great coffee shop nearby called Progress. I highly recommend eating up the street from the trailers (chicken & waffles!). Lustre Pearl is a unique, fun spot for drinks and hanging out. Auditorium shores is beautiful. Our kids loved playing in the water fountains there that shoot up from the ground.
I received great customer service and hospitality from the owners. I would definitely recommend this to a friend!
The Best of Austin
We've stayed at this property on numerous occasions and it's been a great find. The location is central, the property charming, and it's perfect for a large group. Much better than staying at a hotel, a great deal for the price, and the beds are very comfortable. We'll be back!

Activity and Interests
Centrally located just a few blocks from east 6th street and easy walking distance to the convention center and downtown, our location is great for enjoying Austin's food, music, shopping, and entertainment scene. We are also close to beautiful Lady Bird Lake and the hike and bike trails. No need for a car with the metrorail, pedicab station, and b-cycle stations all within a few blocks.
We love our neighborhood with its mix of historic homes, funky art studios and shops, cozy bars and pubs, and amazing restaurants (from local dives to high-end cuisine). We can enjoy our quiet and peaceful street but also walk just 2 blocks to experience great cafes, shops, bars, and music. Oftentimes we also walk downtown or to Lady Bird Lake and the hike and bike trails. There is a reason (well, several reasons) why everyone is talking about East Austin! Below is a recent write up from the New York Times:
"A mile from downtown, East Austin has historically been a working-class neighborhood, a vibrant enclave heavily populated by African-Americans because of an earlier era of segregationist laws — and later, a home to Mexican-American residents. These days, it’s also the city’s newly fashionable arts district, with studios, galleries, cocktail bars, cafes and all manner of food trucks popping up on most every block. Beloved taquerias and barbecue joints, carwashes and Christian outreach ministries now jostle against shiny condos, fancy restaurants and, in refurbished bungalows, groovy hair salons with names like Peacock and Orbit.
On an evening walk around the tree-lined neighborhood, one could be forgiven for thinking that there’s a bar and a food truck for every person in Austin. Whether you pick eats high or low, you’re likely to come out equally happy at the end of the night. On trendy East Sixth Street, a popular encampment of food trailers includes Fried and True (1104 East Sixth Street; 512-810-0702; friedandtrue.com; from $3), where the bespectacled owner, Arielle Henson, cheerfully deep-fries everything from Oreos to fiery grilled cheese and Sriracha sandwiches. Nearby, Coolhaus (eatcoolhaus.com), another trailer, makes ice cream sandwiches with flavors like Guinness chip.
More recently, places like Qui (1600 East Sixth Street; 512-436-9626; quiaustin.com), the new flagship restaurant from the hometown boy and “Top Chef “Season 9 winner, Paul Qui, who serves inventive dishes like marcona almond gazpacho and curry-style pasta, and Mettle (507 Calles Street; 512-236-1022; mettleaustin.com) are bringing more elegance to the table. At Mettle, the chef Andrew Francisco, whose pedigree includes the French Laundry in Napa Valley, also flexes his creative muscle, starting with pain au lait served with smoked butter sprinkled with grated chocolate and sea salt. Vegan chicharrones are made with tapioca; they’re crispy and crackling, accompanied by green and red salsas. Then there are the powerful house cocktails, like the sweet and bracing Rainey St. Mule, made with vodka and ginger beer and served in a copper mug."
