Why Karl & Erika Hoehne chose Seneca

We have always been drawn to the water and used to camp frequently on the lake. We would load up our boat, tent and dog and spend the weekends decompressing from stressful jobs in Asheville. When our first child was born, we realized very quickly that tent camping was not as enjoyable anymore and decided it was time to set some more permanent roots. This house was begging for us to reinvent it. So, up for the challenge, we bought this diamond in the rough. We lovingly took it apart and over the first few years spent our weekends putting it back together. It is the perfect blend of cozy rooms, open views and comforts of home.

What makes this house unique

This cozy little cottage has everything you need. It has enough space but not too much that you feel "disconnected" from your family. Deep waters and little boat traffic make it the perfect place to spend the day in the water swimming, floating or having jumping contests off the dock. If you start to feel a little water logged, enjoy an afternoon nap on the hammock under the canopy of the trees or challenge the kids to a friendly competitive game of horseshoes. Taking an outside shower after a day in the sun is the perfect way to wrap up a long day on the lake.

A wonderful 4 days

  • 5 of 5

Me & my 3 friends (and 2 doggies) had such a great time. The house was just perfect for us - it was clean, we each had our own bedroom (loved that all the bed linens were cotton), the kitchen was well-equipped. The lake was exquisite, and the canoe was the best! Having Ingles and the marina so close by was really convenient; we rented a pontoon for 1/2 day to tour the entire lake which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks Erika and Karl!

This little cabin tucked away on Lake Keowee in Seneca, was perfect for our family of 4 plus our dog. It is right on the lake where you feel like you are miles away from town, but yet you’re truly less than 2 miles from shops and an Ingles grocery store: It was clean and had everything we needed. The paddleboat and canoe were a hit with my boys and they could fish from the dock too! Thank you for sharing your home away from home with us. We will definitely be back!
