The house has been owned by our family since 1986. We are lifetime northern Nevadans and love the Sierras, Lake Tahoe & Donner Lake, and Truckee and always wanted a mountain get away that was close to our home in Reno, NV. We love the active mountain outdoor life style year round and the house has been perfect to enhance the experience for us and it will be perfect for you too.
Richard Edwards purchased this house in 1986
The house combines the two main attributes of a great property: #1 Cozy and contemporary furnishings to create a fabulous vacation experience during all the seasons, but especially in winter and summer. #2 Location, location, location. Truckee, CA is a charming mountain community that exhibits the classic mountain lifestyle and is close to multiple ski/snow boarding resorts, lakes, hiking and mountain biking terrain, shopping and dining establishments to enjoy.
The cabin was very nice with lots of room and was quite warm, especially with the fireplace going. My family had a wonderful time.
We spent a fabulous vacation there. We had a lot of room and it is a warm and a cozy place. We will come back again.
The rental was better than expected. Although the house is a bit dated in some aspects, it provided everything we needed. Plenty of room, good beds, furnishings, CLEAN, all good. Especially thankfull for the driveway clearing of the 18" snowfall that took place. Dick was reachable when needed. A great place for a men's retreat/skiing/team building experience. The gas grill came in handy, too.
Great value, defiantely recommended...
From the moment I inquired about availability, to the moment we headed home, Dick, the owner, was available and helpful for any questions/concerns! Nice, nice, nice!
Upon arrival we were shocked by the size of this place! The photos make the living room/dining room look rather cramped. NOT SO!!! Living room, dining room and kitchen are quite spacious! As well as the King bedroom downstairs! There is a nice size laundry room and understairs storage closet to keep all the slope clothes/equipment out of the way! We had 5 adults and 1 child and could have fit several more comfortably.
It would be hard to find fault in the cleanliness. Nice bright bathrooms with no mold! The living room has updated furnishings/decor. Very comforting and warm!! Gorgeous pine forest view from deck that runs the entire length of the living room. Wide open living room and windows all the way up to the above loft.
Extra comforts everywhere! Plenty of wood for the stove, large t.v. with dvd player, blender, fans, hairdryers, tons of towels, sleds, local activity info and extra quilts everywhere!
The only cons would be kitchen/hall/entryway are rather dated. Also, my husband and I like firm mattresses...but these are REALLY firm. Eggcrates or pillowtops would be a bit more comforting. Still...if you hit the local activities like you should...you will be so exhausted at night that you don't even remember laying down..let alone if the mattress was a bit hard!! (If you have very small children, keep in mind that there are a lot of stairs to deal with. The ones for the loft being particularly ledgey.)
The local businesses are very convenient! An easy 1 1/2 mile drive will get you to Safeway, Rite-Aide, Round Table Pizza, Panda Express, etc....with old downtown Truckee being just a mile further.
I believe we will be checking in again next winter! Enjoy!
