Beautiful, spotless, cozy, will fall in love
The owner is so welcoming and helpful. We stayed in the Homestead. It was clean and cozy and being an avid reader I was drawn to the fully stocked bookshelf that was waiting to be explored! The view of Lake George is unbelievable!! It was our first time and we really love Lake George and plan on returning to the Homestead every year!!!
My favorite place!
I recently enjoyed an absolutely wonderful week in Lake George! I stayed in the "Homestead", although I've stayed in the just as lovely "Stepping Stones" many times as well. You could say I grew up there since the owners are my parents! My mother would say I shouldn't do a review, but I say why not? Who could give you better insight than someone who has vacationed there her entire life. Although I may be biased I am only going to give you facts and for those of you who have stayed at these houses you know this already. First of all these houses have everything and when I say everything I mean EVERYTHING! If you can think of it, it will be there. My parents work so hard to keep everything perfect. My dad is the silent handyman while my mother is the jovial worker bee who loves to get to know the renters and keeps the house totally spotless! It wasn't easy growing up with someone like that, but you'd definitely want to stay in a house maintained by someone like that:) My mom is the most lovely woman you could ever meet, and she loves keeping busy with those houses. So more about the location! Well... it's absolutely perfect because we have a nice area of sandy beach so you can get into the water gradually. Many docks don't have that, so we are extremely lucky! If you haven't been to Lake George you need to know that the water is as clean as could be - it's amazing! The dock has two levels and the top is perfect for watching the sunset. We are also very lucky to be on the East side of the lake so we always try to get down there after dinner with some wine or margarita's to enjoy watching the sun go down. It's peaceful and romantic, but also great for the kids if you're like me and don't get away without them! I can't say enough! It's my favorite place and there is no way to describe it, so you have to come experience it for yourself!
This was our 7th year staying at both houses. It is an idea set up, adults in lower house and adult kids in upper house. Both houses are immaculate and the views are priceless. Plenty of space to dock our two boats, sandy swimming area to enjoy the lake and both the screened in porches and sitting area down at the lake to enjoy the passing boats and the beautiful night skies. I would highly recommend this to my friends/relatives and anyone else looking for an enjoyable, relaxing and perfect vacation.
Great family vacation home
This is our 2nd year we have visited the Homestead with our family. We were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the home and property. We chose to eat dinner out nightly, however, if you do decide to eat in, all the necessities are at your fingertips. We brought our kayaks from home and enjoyed daily excursion around the bay. When we weren't kayaking, we were relaxing on our floats or reading on the dock. There is a small boat house to store your water gear if needed. The sunsets at night are spectacular which can be viewed from the screened in porch or dock.We are looking forward to our return trip next year.

Great location, very comfortable and well-equipped
We really enjoyed staying in the log cabin. Everything was very clean, comfortable and well-equipped with everything that we needed. The beds were very comfortable which is is not always the case with rentals. Great location and the dock is easily accessible. It was so nice to swim off the dock, kayak or jump on the boat.
This was our 4th stay that the Homestead. Everything was perfect, very clean, well maintained and the beds are very comfortable. We think Kattskill Bay is the best location on the lake. It is on the quiet east side of the lake nestled in the bay with beautiful views of the mountains and great sunsets. The water is calmer than on the main part of the lake and the perfect spot to teach your children to water ski. The dock is great with a lower and upper level. There is a sandy shallow area that is great for the little ones and makes it easy to get in and out of the lake. The screened in porch is the best place for breakfast, cocktails and dinner. The house is well stocked with everything you might need to cook a meal. We do cook most of our meals but it is not far from a few restaurants and the village is about a 10 to 15 minute drive. The Cleverdale store is about 5 minutes and great for fresh veggies, homemade pies, sandwiches and general items you might need. The hiking trails to Pilot Knob and Buck Mt are a short drive up the road. We love this location and property and will definitely be back again. Nancy is a joy to work with and very helpful. Thanks again Nancy for sharing your little slice of heaven with us.
