About Doug & Jeanne Lindberg

We have loved the mountains and decided to buy in the Blue Ridge area because of all it has to offer - easy access, shops, hiking, tubing, rafting, antiquing, vineyards and wine tastings, festivals and so much more.

Doug & Jeanne Lindberg purchased this cabin in 2003

Why Doug & Jeanne Lindberg chose Blue Ridge

We fell in love with the cozy, comfort of this cabin. It is very easy to get to with a four lane highway right up to the turn to go up the mountain. Once you leave the highway it is like being in another world - quiet, peaceful.

We have tried to make our cabin a home away from home and provide all the comforts of home.

What makes this cabin unique

Easy access to the cabin as well as down the driveway to park. Quiet and serene yet close to many activities, shops, local events, etc.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Good morning, Jeanne! Thank you SO much for opening your beautiful home to us. Our only complaint was that we could not stay longer to enjoy it! Thank you for permitting us to extend the checkout time on Sunday - the extra 2 hours in the morning were really great. We absolutely loved the cabin, and will definitely stay here again. Once I have more time, I will put together a review for the VRBO site - can't say enough nice things about you and your lovely home! Thanks again. Heather

Mother/Daughter Shopping

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I stayed two nights, Feb 23-24, 2018. We enjoyed the shopping in Dawsonville and Blue Ridge. The cabin location was great, only minutes to Blue Ridge. The selection of dvds for night time viewing was perfect. The covered area for the hot tub was wonderful, even in the rain. Our trip was a last minute thing and the owners were wonderful to work with and we will definitely plan to return.

Owner's Response: I am so happy your weekend ended up being just what you were hoping for! I actually thought of you both throughout the weekend, wondering if you were getting some good shopping and dining in! Two of my favorite things to do with the girls. Glad the covered deck was enjoyable - it is a new addition and we've gotten all positive feedback so I am pleased. Anytime you would like to make another trip, just contact me. Thanks for the nice comments. Best regards, Jeanne

Absolutely PERFECT!

  • 5 of 5

We rented Fishing Bear Cabin for an anniversary weekend. This cabin truly is home away from home. Doing and Jeanne have everything you could possibly need for your time in the mountains. The furniture is comfortable, the beds are great and the hot tub is heavenly. We spent our days in Blue Ridge, where there is more than enough to do. If you're a wine drinker do yourself a favor and go for a tasting at Serenberry Vineyards in nearby Morganton. The wine is great and the people that work there are fantastic! Evenings spent on either of the decks at Fishing Bear are quiet and relaxing. The kitchen is perfect for cooking any size meal you want. We would recommend this property to anyone with absolutely no reservations. We loved it and we'll definitely be back!

Nice weekend getaway!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in the cabin. There were 3 adults and a child. The cabin had everything you could expect for supplies. The cabin was a little tight for space in each of the bedrooms but that is due to having plenty of dressers and large size beds. The gas fireplace in the main living room was nice and was easily worked. The hot tub was great and worked perfectly. The DVD movie library was amazing and had all kinds of choices. The downstairs entertainment room was nice and had a good sized tv. The couches were not the most comfortable but we still enjoyed movie watching. The owners were great to work with and the cabin is very close to Blue Ridge. I would definitely recommend this cabin for the location, price, and overall enjoyment we had.

Owner's Response: Thanks for reviewing Kelly - we appreciate all the nice comments. The futon downstairs agreeably is not the most comfortable as a sofa but has served as an additional bed. Replacing it with a new sleeper sofa is top of our list and we hope to take care of that in the very new future. Unexpectedly replacing the hot tub and putting a roof over the hot tub/ grilling deck in June delayed other items on our wish list unfortunately. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you'll consider us if you return to the area. Best regards, Doug and Jeanne

Perfect Cabin for NYE Weekend!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at Fishing Bear Cabin. Doug and Jeanne were so communicative leading up to our stay, and the cabin was stocked with everything you could possibly need. We never even left Cherry Log! Instead we enjoyed playing games at the table, walking the trails near the cabin, spending (cold!!) nights in the hot tub, playing ping pong in the game room, and catching up around the fire. We have already talked about making this our yearly friend reunion cabin! We will definitely be back.

This is a wonderful place to stay in the mountains. The cabin is beautiful, clean and perfect for a family or a couple. Cabin is in a beautiful area with trees and wildlife all around it but also only about 5 miles from downtown Blue Ridge. This cabin has all the amenities you could ask for including an awesome fireplace, a gas grill, a hot tub and 2 great porches. You won't be disappointed at Fishing Bear Cabin!
