House, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, 12 Sleeps
I'm a globetrotter by nature and have been very fortunate to call many places home. The German hospitality concept of the Zimmerhaus (renting a room) is a fun way to meet people and get to know an area. The bed and breakfast stay is nice, however renting the entire house out is by far a better fit for larger groups. Since 2003 I've been excited to be able share my little piece of the beautiful Guadalupe River with so many.
Why Sheryl chose New Braunfels
The Cabana Guadalupe was used as the guest house for the former owners of the property, who lived in the generational much larger house next door, we call the Casa Grande Guadalupe. I say generational because when they first purchased the property in 1960 there were no houses. The family started out camping in a tent, gradually moved up to a foldout camper, then to a travel trailer before building the more permanent structures. Eventually the children grew up left home and mom and dad aged, retired and decided the place was too large to handle. One stipulation to our purchase was we had to continue sharing this little paradise with others that they loved so much.
What makes this House unique
We purchased the Guadalupe Haus which is just down the lane in 2004. I kept admiring this beautiful place and getting to know the elderly man and woman who owned it. My envy was obvious and one day he came to us and said he was ready to move on and offered it to us. The rest is history, we Welcome You and your family and friends to come play and stay with us.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
There were 9 of us total w/ 3 kids and although the house looks really small when you first pull up there was plenty of room inside for all of us. We had a great time. Great location between 2nd and 3rd crossing. The house is on a large property with a lot of big trees.
With all of that said, we most likely will not stay at this property again. There is not easy access to hang out in the river at the house. There are concrete steps to walk down to the river but no where to sit right by the water and the small area is not well maintained. This is not the house to stay if you want to have a day to relax and swim in the river without going tubing. Trash all over the ground in front of the driveway/parking area when we arrived. The inside of the house wasn’t as clean as I would expect. The mattresses on the pull out couches are stained and uncomfortable. We could smell the septic system inside and outside of the house, especially when running the water in one of the bathrooms. The WiFi internet didn’t work. I sent a few emails to Guadalupe Rentals letting them know about a few concerns and their responses were short, rude and not helpful. The actual property owner was very nice and responsive. The property management company, not so much. I’ve stayed at several other properties over the years on the Guadalupe and for the amount of money we spent to stay here there are much better options.
Great location great little house
My company has been renting this house the 1st weekend in May for the last 10 years. We love the location. The owner has always been attentive to any concerns we had. Great location great house and most important Great price for it's location and the amenities.
We appreciate your loyalty and look forward to your stay each year. Here's to 10 more!
Very pleasant stay!
She was very open to our large group of 12 young adults and took great care of us. The house was clean and well kept and she provided great instructions and advice regarding our stay and things to look for in the area. I’ll definitely be a returning customer!
