Property Details

Updated: Oct 10, 2016
Condo, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, 4 Sleeps

Vecinos in Cabarete awaits your arrival with welcoming island hospitality. Our tranquil tropical neighbourhood - right at the edge of this world-famous kite-boarding destination - has all the comforts of home.

Our great location is an excellent vacation destination for the whole family, water sports enthusiasts or the perfect romantic spot for just the two of you :)

Nestled in lush gardens, our 4 condos have tastefully designed interiors and gorgeous ocean and mountain views. Beautiful landscaping with mature tropical fruit trees and a variety of flowers, treat your senses.

You can pick mangos right from your balcony when they're in season, or some of the other fruit growing here - like rollos (similar to a banana), bananas, coconuts, pomelos (like a big grapefruit), oranges, almonds, avocados, chinola (passion fruit) , breadfruit, papayas, or guavas.

Inhale the exotic fragrance of blooming plumeria (a favorite lei flower), and feast your eyes on the gorgeous orchids, hibiscus + bromelaids, cactus flowers, or chenile blossoms, amoung many others.

Refresh mind + body with a plunge into the natural turqoise waters of our giant pool surrounded by thatched roofed palapas providing shade.

Sit at the poolside thatched roof bar and enjoy serene tropical ambiance while sipping your favorite beverage or 'surfing the net'.

Fully furnished condos have 24-hr power, central air-conditioning, cable TV, high-speed internet wi-fi signal. Kitchens are outfitted with a GE fridge and stove, cookware and dishes, + hot water on demand through-out. Bed linens + towels are included, with a change of clean ones brought once a week.

Pack your suitcase with your personal effects and move right're all set to go :)

It's easy to keep our condos cleaned up, but if you'd like additional maid service, it's very reasonable at only $18/day.

Right across the street (100 meters from your front door), the golden sand beach stretches for miles to the east + west.

Perfect for sunbathing, building sandcastles or water sports, it beckons kids of all ages to hunt for shells, amber + driftwood treasures.

Long healing beachwalks offer solitude + ocean meditations to replenish your spirit - anytime of day........whether it's sunrise, sunset, or lit by the tropical moon reflected on the waves.

The property is very well maintained, and ideal for independent travelers. I came to Villa Vecinos with my wife and children, and the owners went an extra mile to accommodate our needs. Lynda and Les provided us with all necessary info about the environment, and gave a lot of insider's tips on traveling around.

The place is serene and very relaxing, rooms are clean and spacious beyond expectations. We enjoyed many walks on the beach and around Cabarete (it takes only 20 minutes to get there on foot, or 5 min in a cab). The beach is virtually across the road, with very decent bar and restaurant nearby.

Since there are only 4 units in the villa, you hardly feel presence of other guests and can quietly relax at the big pool, which is very clean and refreshing.

The kitchen is well equipped and fully functional; groceries may be easily purchased in Cabarete and fruits (amazingly tasty!) from street vendors.

We would be happy to come there again, and recommend Vecinos to all our friends.

Owner's Response: Elizabeth and her family had so much FUN, it was a joy to see how much they enjoyed the pool and playing with the inflatable raft for hours - laughing and having a ball! We welcome them back again anytime and appreciate them telling all their friends about us too! It's great to have such respectful guests who enjoy their stay so much! Looking forward to having them back next time they're in our area - cheers!

A Decent place to stay

  • 4 of 5

Worked well for us as we enjoyed the 40 minute walk into Caberette. Either road or beach. Taxi or motor at night is a better choice for most. Great restaurants and great one right across the road. Property is accross the road from the beach. Price is fair for what you get, nor a deal but fair. Of you are looking for 3.5 plus star keep looking. If you are looking for a comfortable safe place at a fair price you may have found what you are looking for. Refreshing pool and showers are also refreshing some mornings but all in all no complaints. Suggest you always have TP in your travel pack.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay at Vecinos and the restaurants in Cabarete....not quite sure what was meant by saying to keep looking for a 3.5 and then giving us an overall rating of 4 ..? If TP stands for toilet paper, I guess that's always good advice when traveling in the DR as not all restaurants and bars are always up to Canadian standards. Yes the pool is refreshing at this time of year and I always tell people the ocean is always much more comfortable to swim in temperature wise. We are quite fortunate to have a high end condo complex across the street with a comfortable restaurant, Martinis, right on the ocean...georgeos sunrises and full moon rises as well. We felt fortunate to get you a condo reserved for you after the several date changes and hope you enjoyed the upgrade to the two bedroom . And yes, we do agree, it's a very decent place to stay in Cabarete. Hope you come visit us again.

My awesome vacation at Vecino's

  • 4 of 5

I loved staying at Vecino's! I was there for 3 weeks over New Year's and into January, and it started to feel like home. I was made to feel welcome the minute I arrived, and Les addressed any small issues as soon as I identified them. Vecino's is not in the centre of Cabarete, but the walk (super healthy walk along the beach) and/or Motoconcho ride (50 pesos!) added to the adventurous feel of my trip. Saturday markets at Vecino's were so much fun, with artisans and vendors from the area as well as Les' amazing breakfast sandwiches and cinnamon rolls. And the dogs and cats were just so friendly. The pool is immaculate, the grounds are beautiful, and the atmosphere is welcoming. We got our fill of coconuts, avocados, bread fruit falling from the trees, amazing! Thank you Les, it was a memorable vacation for me and for my family and friends, one that I will never forget. I miss the sound of your guitar and singing in the evenings, and your friendly "good morning" every day! And the memory of you walking me to the top level of Voy Voy's on New Year's Eve so that I could get a better view - fantastic! It was a great New Year's Eve. In fact, I loved it so much, I might just come back next year! It certainly beat the boredom and protectionism of staying at an all-inclusive resort - Vecinos made me feel like part of the community! Thank you!!!

Owner's Response: Lynne fit right in at Vecinos.....either catching a motoconcho into town, meeting other expats at the Saturday Market, or just hanging out by the pool. Was great meeting her son, and later her daughter and boyfriend, then other friends that stayed at the next door condo, and finally another travelling companion for the last week. New Years Eve was certainly a memorable evening as I was singing at the Kahuna Bar and Lynne and her family came to listen and then before midnight we ran next door ,in the rain, to the VoyVOy Bar which was packed full of young party goers from all over the world. Truly a party atmosphere and after awhile no one seemed to notice if it was raining or not. I think my greatest pleasure is meeting so many people from different countries and never having to travel because they all come to stay at Vecinos , either for a few days, a week or a month, or more. By the time Lynne left it really felt like saying goodbye to a friend and I hope she and her family do come back for another stay.... I'll be sure and save a Jumbo BLT just for you. A Friend, Lester

Amazing Service Provided

  • 5 of 5

We decided to rent the whole condo for a group of Approx. 20 for a very fun weekend in Cabarete. Lynda was a love throughout the whole process, ensuring that each and every one of us had the proper sleeping accomodation and making sure everything went out smoothly. Always prompt to reply, always kind, and we had a BLAST!

Would definitively book again, the best way to enjoy Cabarete !

Owner's Response: What a joy to see Haronny's group of 25 young people rent our entire resort and enjoy the privacy of having the whole property to themselves for their very own private party place! It's an ideal set-up for a group like theirs, and they really enjoyed their time with us :) They were able to use the pool anytime they wanted to - and have it always open when they wanted to swim. We have an inflatable boat that they spent hours on - floating around the pool, laughing and trying to see how many would fit onboard - so much FUN!!! They really enjoyed the condos too, playing their music, singing, cooking and partying all day - great FUN! Since my husband & I live on site, we're available to help with any requests our guests may have. This group asked for some large cooking pots - which we provided - so they could cook large quantities for their group. The fully stocked kitchens in the condos, complete with full sized fridges and stoves came in very handy when they were cooking and preparing food for everyone :) Our location is perfect to relax (or party) in all day, where it's peaceful and quiet, with easy access to all the happening downtown night life. At night they'd go into town where they danced the night away at the hopping discos. They returned in the early mornings and were able to sleep as long as they wanted in the tranquil condos nestled in our tropical gardens. This group really enjoyed a wonderful group BBQ - using our large charcoal burning bbq we offer to our guests - to bbq delicious chicken and pork chops for everyone - yum!!! Our tropical acreage with the 4 beautiful condos, large pool with a dozen sun loungers and large charcoal-burning BBQ are a perfect place for a group party or celebration. We can accommodate 25 people (who don't mind sharing bathrooms) as this group experienced in relative comfort. We were so happy to watch them having so much fun, and welcome them back again anytime! (and bring their friends too :)

I have travelled extensively and my experience here was the worst experience I have ever had. The bedroom floor was flooded on the night of my arrival. This was ust the beginning of two bad weeks. The air conditioning did not work, missing tiles in the ceiling of the bathroom, door handles falling off, no hot water and water pressure so low that you could not use the shower in the second bedroom, the aluminum edge of the patio door came off exposing the sharp edge of the glass, the dishes in the cupboards were filthy dirty and had to be washed, dogs and cats defectating all over, someone building wooden tables at 7 am using power saws etc. mould all over, a swimmng pool that was not clean and the deck cluttered with old tables and chairs and pool equipment, linens for the beds and towels that should have been replaced years ago. The last thing was the cockroaches I found in the kitchen. I know that if you go to the Caribbean you must expect them, but that still does not mean you want to find them in your apartment.

This sounds like a nasty disgruntled client but I will say this, the onsite managers and I talked several times and they are frustrated as well. The owners do not want to spend the money to maintain this property and I suggest that you avoid it. There were several other guests there at the same time and they feel the same as I.

Owner's Response: We thank Dave for his feedback and are sorry to hear he didn't enjoy his stay. It's unfortunate he didn't let us know about his concerns until several days after he'd left, so we could've addressed them at the time, and made his stay more enjoyable. Our property managers who live on site told us they had a hot water problem when Dave first arrived. They fixed it and asked Dave to confirm it was working properly. They told us Dave hadn't told them about any further problems with it, so were surprised to learn he'd complained of it after leaving. They'd also checked the air-conditioner and said it was working fine. As soon as Dave had told them about the wobbly door knob, they'd replaced it entirely with a new one. We'd just finished repainting + refilling our gorgeous pool, so it was sparkling clear and inviting for our guests, who've told us they really enjoy it! Our employees don't arrive for work until 8am, so we're not sure what he's referring to regarding building tables and power saw noises at 7am. Several days after he left Dave emailed us with a list of complaints, asking us to refund at least half of his money to compensate for all his inconvenience. We checked with our property managers who confirmed they'd addressed all the issues Dave had told them about, and had asked him to let them know if there was anything further they could do for him. Since he didn't bring up any further issues, they believed he was satisfied. We know our property managers do their best to make all our guests as happy as possible, and are confident they did the same for Dave. When we informed Dave our investigation of his complaints didn't support his request for a refund, he threatened “the power of the internet” in retaliation. We understand that our small Vecinos community (only 4 rental condos) doesn't suit everyone. People who enjoy large all-inclusive resorts with crowds of people around, where you need to reserve your poolside lounger early in the day, will not find the same experience with us. We wish Dave well, and all the best on his future vacations!

Relaxing and Beautiful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our 2 week family vacation was a great at Vecinos! Son (21) daughter (16) and I had a wonderful time catching a gua-gua (20 pesos each) into Cabarete to shop and eat dinner at one of the many restaurants on the beach. The ocean was full of wind and kite surfers at Cabarete beach! We never needed a car because transportation was always available. The first week we just relaxed, swam at the pool, and walked across the street to the beach and lived on "Dominican-time". The second week we took a day trip to Santa Domingo and a jeep safari to the mountains of Puerto Plata and the 27 falls. There is so much to do - if you want to - and Vecinos is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the beauty from the back porch. And Les is quite the singer - we enjoyed hearing him sing at some of the local places! My kids and I loved the cats, dogs, and birds on the compound and feel like we have found another home - just a more exotic one, and Lynda and Les could not have been more helpful or better hosts.
