Why David McCollough chose Bailey

What makes this cabin unique

This cabin contains NO sheetrock. It is log inside and out. The floor to ceiling windows in the main room boast amazing views of the mountains and forest surrounding the cabin. The deck on 3 sides of the cabin is 8 feet deep giving plenty of room to be outside and enjoy the amazing Colorado atmosphere. Standing on the deck you are almost 9,000 feet up in the Rocky Mountains! There are 2 fabulous easy hiking trails on national forest within 10 minutes of the cabin... Meridian Trail and Tanglewood Trail.

Very impressive

  • 5 of 5

We spent two nights in the cabin and loved it!! The views were amazing and the wildlife on the deck was very entertaining. The cabin was cozy, clean and inviting. We grilled one of the nights, and the kitchen was so well stocked. Every pan, spice and condiment you can imagine. Looking at the stars from the hot tub on the deck was a great way to end each day. David was a delight to work with and provided all the information we needed well ahead of time. I would definitely recommend to a friend and would love to stay again.

Great cabin!

Wonderful amenities, very accommodating. An addition of screen doors would be nice to help with the air flow and less bugs, otherwise perfect!

Great cabin and stay!

  • 5 of 5

Perfect location near Denver as well as remote areas for hiking and sightseeing. Attentive owner and a wonderful mountain retreat in the woods! Make sure to visit Mt Evans, it was the highlight of our trip. Staunton state park is a great spot for hiking trails close to the cabin...for a small fee. Free hiking is near the cabin via meridian trail, or Tanglewood trail, and a few others. Can't go wrong!

Top Thing to do in Budget:.....

Top Thing to do in Family:.....

Hiking: You are only minutes from great hiking trail heads in the Pike National Forest from Deer Creek Cabin. You'll see those signs as you drive to the cabin. We have hiked the Rosalie Trail, the Tanglewood Trail and the Meridian Trail, all close to the cabin.

Fishing: If you are a fisherman there is no doubt that you have heard of South Park. Even back in the old days, South Park fishing and hunting had reached the ears of people in distant lands. They came from as far away as England and Ireland to enjoy the plentiful bounty of the Park. South Park is the name and fishing is the game.

Skiing: You are 1.5 hours from Breckenridge Ski Resort. Take I-285W to Fairplay, then Hwy. 9 through Hoosier Pass to Breckenridge. You are also only 2 hours from Winter Park. Take I-285W East toward Denver to Conifer, turn right there to Evergreen to I-70 and follow a map from there.

Whitewater Rafting: We enjoy River Runners. Their Fisherman's Bridge office is located on the banks of the Arkansas River just 5 miles south of Buena Vista on US Hwy 285. With gentle waters, awesome scenery and exciting rapids this section of river offers something for people of all ages and abilities.
