Cozy in the Mountains

  • 3 of 5

Initially , I loved the house and it is a great house! My family spend the entire time on the 'back porch'. The sound of the brook and the view of trees ....all spectacular!! We ate all meals, puzzles were going and board games played out on that porch, comfortable chairs, and plenty of room. Perfect setting to unplug the teenagers, ours had a great time..The kitchen is reasonable in size, didn't do much cooking as we were only there 3 nights. I believe a dishwasher would an valuable addition. We were asked to wash and put away our dishes, no big deal, however, I was a little skeptical of the washing job some prior guests may have done. The house could have been cleaner, needed a good sweep, but it is tough in the woods as this house is very much in the woods, good with the bad. I was disappointed to see the face clothes looked more like old cleaning clothes, stained and warn. I know it is hard to keep a rental clean, but remotely concerning when the Info book in the house hints you will be expected to clean adequately for the next guest. I am sure that was a misunderstanding. We stripped beds and put towels in the laundry room, but I did not see clear directions for that aspect of check out. All in all, I would recommend the house and likely would rent here again.

Beautiful Big Cabin in Awesome Location

  • 5 of 5

The creek is beautiful and the cabin is very spacious and also contains sound well from room to room. The kids can go to bed and you can stay up watching TV and they won't hear a thing. The only down side is that there is actually no A/C (we didn't realize this before staying) so it can get a little bit muggy, but stays cool enough to not be too uncomfortable. Since you are way up in the mountains by a stream, it gets pretty cool in the evenings, and we were there in July. We LOVED the creek. I cannot say how beautiful and how much fun it was, and you're just 10 minutes from the Blue Ridge Pkwy and Mt. Mitchell, which is awesome. I'd go back again and again to this gorgeous property and feel like there's more to explore and we only touched on the possibilities!
