About the Owner

My name is Toni and my husband Pete and I feel so fortunate to own this cozy cabin nestled amongst pines trees overlooking Bear Mountain ski slopes. We have been sharing our mountain getaway with renters for 15 years now and truly love knowing that other families are making special memories there as well.

Our family enjoys retreating to the cabin as often as we can and when we can't it brings us joy to know other families are able to enjoy the cabin with their family and friends!

Pete and I have 2 daughters (age 7 and 10) and a 2 yr old Golden retriever named Molly. Our family enjoys skiing, hiking, biking, the beach and traveling to fun new places. We also rent our beach home in Carpinteria which has allowed us to travel during summer with our family. Although our absolute favorite destination is still Thompson Timbers cabin! This is our 'happy place' where all worries seem to disappear :)

A hidden Gem!

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at this lodge for a family vacation in February. This lodge was really easy to book and the owners gave great directions, making it very easy to find. This lodge has 3 bedrooms and 1 loft which was perfect for our family of 4, parents, brother in law, and friend. We did travel with our 16 month old, so just had to be a little careful with the stairs. There was a crib in the bottom room which was perfect and there were also some heaters for the chilly nights. My favorite part of the lodge was the outdoor deck which had a great and clean hot tub. This was perfect after snowboarding all day. There was also an outdoor heating lamp which was an added bonus when hanging outside. There was also a gas grill which we did not use this time. The kitchen was great and had everything we needed. The rooms and bathrooms were all clean and comfortable. There was also a washer and dryer which was also very convenient. The location was great also, it was a short 5 min or less walk to get to the base of Big Bear. I also loved the ambiance of the lodge which had great décor and personal touches.

Overall, my whole family enjoyed their time there and would love to come back and stay there soon! To be honest, another great thing about this place was the owners. Toni was always readily available to offer any suggestions and answer any questions we had. To top it off, we forgot our child’s security blanket there. Toni went out of her way to find it and ship it back to us within a couple days. That was really such a kind gesture and just goes to show what great people they are.

Perfect family reunion!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 adults and 2 children had a wonderful time at Thompson Timbers. We arrived in a snowstorm and walked in to a pre-warmed, cozy cabin. We jumped into the beautiful jacuzzi as soft snowflakes drifted down on our relaxed heads. We all slept very well on the very comfy beds. The three bedrooms accommodated the adults well and the loft gave the kids a fun place to play and sleep, but to also be "with" the adults in the living room below. The decor is mountain rustic, but the technology is anything but that - the Wi-Fi is blazing fast even with all of us on it, and there are flat screens with On Demand movies/TV - not that we spent a lot of time with that as we literally looked out at the magnificent Bear Mountain ski area and easily walked to the lifts. Meals were easy to prepare as the cabin literally has everything you need and there is a beautiful large table that had room to spare where we all enjoyed our meals. But perhaps the best part about the whole weekend was how easy it was to arrange everything with Toni - she was so helpful and even made sure we came up the mountain the fastest way, didn't sit in traffic and brought chains! Thank you Toni - we will definitely be back!

So Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

This is our 7th straight year renting at Big Bear in the winter. Each year we've rented a different cabin because none of them have been quite right. This year though, we found the PERFECT CABIN in Thompson Timbers. We'll never stay anywhere else! There were 6 of us (3 adults, a high school aged girl, and two elementary-aged boys...oh, and a golden retriever). Everyone was perfectly comfortable. The boys LOVED the loft (and the tire swing, and the boulders to climb on outside). The rest of us loved having separate bedrooms with truly comfy beds. The layout of the cabin was excellent - we never felt cramped. We walked to the slopes and to the Alpine Zoo. We hiked up behind the cabin (also walking distance). We relaxed in the jacuzzi each evening. Also, something small but really nice in a rental cabin was that this really felt like someone's home. It was well decorated, there were photos...it felt like staying at a dear friend's home...not at a rental property...which made it that much more relaxing and inviting. Lastly, Toni was an absolute DREAM to work with...so helpful, kind, responsive, generous, etc. I wish all owners were as gracious as she is. We'll be back...hopefully soon!

Will be returning to this gem of a cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here with a group of 5 couples for our New Years getaway and we will definitely be returning to this cozy mountain cabin! First of all, the location is absolutely amazing! You can literally walk to Bear Mtn resort and have an awesome view of the slopes right from the outside wrap around deck! The cabin was so warm and inviting - as soon as we stepped in the doors we felt right at home. The decor gave you that true cabin woodsy feel and there is plenty of space for everyone! We really enjoyed the luxury of using the Jacuzzi and the cabin had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Best of all, the owner is such a pleasure to work with and provides all the info you need for your vacation in Big Bear. I highly recommend staying at this property and can't wait for our next trip to Big Bear so we can enjoy the all the accommodations this cabin has to offer!

Loved this place

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful location for our family Christmas. Eight adults, two small children and a little dog. Everything was absolutely perfect. Lots of room for everyone and so very cozy. Loved the hot tub and view of the mountain. Would recommend this to anyone. Hope to return someday.

Nice place!

  • 5 of 5

Rented in Dec 2012 for two families (4 adults / 3 kids). It's a clean and cozy cabin and a lot of sleeping space (yes, easily can sleep 10) ... kids especially liked the loft. Living room is not big, but overall there is enough space for two families to move around, play board games, etc. Cabin is located close to Big Bear Mountain and importantly for us, on the outskirts of the city so we could easily find a good place for sledding in a short walking distance. Toni, the owner, was very responsive and easy to deal with. I should mention that I got full deposit back (although that was not the case with one of my prior rentals in Big Bear). I would definitely recommend and consider for future stays.

Location

From the Owner

This cabin was our 'dream location' as it is just a short walk from ski slopes of Bear Mountain and nestled in a small neighborhood that backs up to National Forest on one side and sits just above Bear Mountain. The cabin was an original owner cabin that was a lot of fun to redecorate and make changes to like a large wraparound deck with jacuzzi. The cabin is the perfect size to enjoy with 2 or 3 families or cozy enough for just the 4 of us as well. We never tire of going to the cabin and wether we are off hiking/biking/skiing or just reading a good book by the fire watching the snow, we always thank our lucky stars that we own this amazing rustic retreat!

Amenities

From the Owner

So warm and inviting and the minute you step inside you feel as if you are somewhere far away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Kids and adults all seem to be charmed by the rustic A frame classic interior and the loft is usually a big hit with kids! There are 3 separate bedrooms that offer privacy for adults each with queen beds and master with a king bed
