About Brian Mylar

I'm a real estate agent in San Antonio but this is our personal home on the river. We don't use it much because we have six kids, so we rent it out so others can enjoy it.

Brian Mylar purchased this house in 2007

Why Brian Mylar chose Texas Hill Country

We always wanted property on the Guadalupe. They aren't making any more of it, so we snagged this one while we could and then built the house.

What makes this house unique

It's just quiet and peaceful and woodsy. That's what I like about it.

Notes:
This home offers too many amenities to mention, but let me try: You can float the "horseshoe" in this area and not worry about New Braunfels city rules. *YES, THERE IS ALWAYS WATER IN THE RIVER HERE! Our water comes from below Canyon Dam and so it's always flowing to downstream users so there's always water here. It may not flow very fast at times, but it's there. So while the Guadalupe may have dried up ABOVE the lake, water will continue to flow BELOW the lake until it's drained. *Direct waterfront access to the Guadalupe River. Right off our banks you can tube, canoe, kayak or just plop a chair down and relax in the most beautiful of Texas Rivers. Giant Cypress trees line the bank at this shady retreat. The house sits on high ground. There are 51 steps from an upper deck down to the river level. *Decks aplenty! The porch high above the Guadalupe has a covered wrap-around cement deck that offers the chance to relax and enjoy a beverage amidst the trees. Below that, a wooden deck features a patio table and chairs and a large bench for relaxing. The propane gas grill nearby means you can grill your dinner and serve it al fresco! Another level down there's an eight-foot wooden bar overlooking the river. Pull up the bench and have beer or dinner. Then, down by the river, there's another pavestone deck with two tables where you can relax as the tubers (or the ducks!) float by. Plus, there's a picnic table near the river as well! *Recreation for the Kids! This home features a 16-foot trampoline with pads and side nets for your enjoyment as well as a wooden play structure with swings, a slide and a fort. *Games: Come here to play! We have a full size volleyball net that is set up (bring your own ball), a croquet set on the porch that you can take out and even Hillbilly Horseshoes (otherwise known as ladder golf). Come here to play and have fun! *Can you Canoe? We have a canoe with paddles by the river. You are free to take it on the water at your own risk. ***As you can see, this is a FAMILY home in a FAMILY neighborhood. Noise and excessive guests at any time of the day will not be tolerated. No more than FOUR vehicles may be parked at the house. Neighbors WILL call the sheriff's department if there is excess noise and we will do an 11pm drive-by on weekend nights to count the number of cars and check for noise. Very nice family place to stay. Kids had a fabulous time.

Really nice vacation rental. Pay attention to all of the instructions, it helps. There are quite a few steps down to the river. Some of my family floated down the river from the house to the horseshoe. The section of river from the house was very private and enjoyable. Just be aware of a waterfall. The horseshoe was very crowded so floating from the house to there was really nice. Figuring out where to park and put in our floats was hard to figure out. We brought our own, so didn't need the rental place. They still wanted to charge us a lot to shuttle us. The first float we just rode the horseshoe. We paid $15 to park next to a convenience store and then walked down to the bridge. We parked one car at the end of the horseshoe so people could go get the other car to pick us all up. It took time to figure all this out. The second float was from the house down to the horseshoe, no ride needed except to get back. We just drove a vehicle down to the end and came back to the house to put in. You can get out at the beginning or end of the horseshoe depending on how long you want to float.

Owner's Response: Some very good advice, thanks! I try to keep people very informed on how things work at the river and be a mini-concierge of sorts. It's definitely good information to have when you're floating on your own. And you are so right that our piece of the river is quiet and relaxing once you get down those steps. The yard is plenty big enough for games and gathering and you can just plop a tube in the water and enjoy!!

Owner's Response: I'm glad you liked it! It is very comfortable with all the decks to enjoy the views and grill. My thought is the BeeHive should be a restful place to get away from the stress of everyday life. Come and enjoy the river in peace!

Accommodating home and host, year over year!

  • 5 of 5

This was our sixth year to stay at the Beehive. We are always pleased with the upkeep of the house and exceptional management from Brian. The location is very convenient, being only a half-mile away from the tubing rentals and local entertainment. The house backs up to a peaceful part of the river which is perfect for a peaceful canoe trip or a view for morning coffee. We always have a wonderful stay at the BeeHive and look forward to many more stays!

Really nice place

  • 5 of 5

BeeHive is a really nice property and my only complaint was there were no bath mats. Place is much much better than most of the places I have rented. Recommend it for anyone staying in the area

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying! We think it's a great place to stay as well and we constantly get comments that this is a much better place to stay than other places people have rented. I always ask guests if the BeeHive lives up to the way it was advertised and the answer is always yes. We don't promise things we can't deliver. And while we have rugs in the bathrooms, yes, there are no bath mats. I will get a couple for guests who need them. That's a minor issue and I appreciate you bringing it to my attention!

2nd year in a row for our Memorial Day Weekend.

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed 2 years now at the Beehive and have never had any issues with the house or the accommodations. 4 couples from our church went and floated the river (right out our back door), saw all the sights and had a great time in general. Brian has been easy to work with and very accommodating. You should have a great time when you come.

Owner's Response: One thing I really enjoy is having repeat guests! If you liked the house and the river the first visit and decided to come back, that means you enjoyed your time there and thought the property was a good value for you and your party. That makes me happy! And yes, I do try to be accommodating. Thank you! If a guest has a concern or wants something to be done before their visit, I make sure it happens. That's why folks like you keep coming back. Thanks!
