About Brian Mylar

I'm a real estate agent in San Antonio but this is our personal home on the river. We don't use it much because we have six kids, so we rent it out so others can enjoy it.

Brian Mylar purchased this house in 2007

Why Brian Mylar chose Canyon Lake

We always wanted property on the Guadalupe. They aren't making any more of it, so we snagged this one while we could and then built the house.

What makes this house unique

It's just quiet and peaceful and woodsy. That's what I like about it.

Notes:
This home offers too many amenities to mention, but let me try: You can float the "horseshoe" in this area and not worry about New Braunfels city rules. *YES, THERE IS ALWAYS WATER IN THE RIVER HERE! Our water comes from below Canyon Dam and so it's always flowing to downstream users so there's always water here. It may not flow very fast at times, but it's there. So while the Guadalupe may have dried up ABOVE the lake, water will continue to flow BELOW the lake until it's drained. *Direct waterfront access to the Guadalupe River. Right off our banks you can tube, canoe, kayak or just plop a chair down and relax in the most beautiful of Texas Rivers. Giant Cypress trees line the bank at this shady retreat. The house sits on high ground. There are 51 steps from an upper deck down to the river level. *Decks aplenty! The porch high above the Guadalupe has a covered wrap-around cement deck that offers the chance to relax and enjoy a beverage amidst the trees. Below that, a wooden deck features a patio table and chairs and a large bench for relaxing. The propane gas grill nearby means you can grill your dinner and serve it al fresco! Another level down there's an eight-foot wooden bar overlooking the river. Pull up the bench and have beer or dinner. Then, down by the river, there's another pavestone deck with two tables where you can relax as the tubers (or the ducks!) float by. Plus, there's a picnic table near the river as well! *Recreation for the Kids! This home features a 16-foot trampoline with pads and side nets for your enjoyment as well as a wooden play structure with swings, a slide and a fort. *Games: Come here to play! We have a full size volleyball net that is set up (bring your own ball), a croquet set on the porch that you can take out and even Hillbilly Horseshoes (otherwise known as ladder golf). Come here to play and have fun! *Can you Canoe? We have a canoe with paddles by the river. You are free to take it on the water at your own risk. ***As you can see, this is a FAMILY home in a FAMILY neighborhood. Noise and excessive guests at any time of the day will not be tolerated. No more than FOUR vehicles may be parked at the house. Neighbors WILL call the sheriff's department if there is excess noise and we will do an 11pm drive-by on weekend nights to count the number of cars and check for noise. Great vacation

  • 5 of 5

The BeeHive has the perfect location. It is 15 minutes drive from the stores but you still have the feeling to be in a secluded place! My family and I had an amazing time. Everything was clean and Brian was very attentive all the time. We enjoyed spending time by the lake and the fire pit. I definitely recommend this place and look forward to staying at the BeeHive again!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for staying at the BeeHive! I'm glad you enjoyed Christmas there and I look forward to posting some of the pictures you sent me of a great family celebration. I think you nailed it when you said convenenient and secluded. Yep, we're right off of FM 306 and just around the corner from the little town of Sattler, with shopping and dining at a number of locations. But when you get to the house and gaze down at the river, it's just so peaceful and secluded. I look forward to having you back!

Very nice property, it fits our needs well

Very nice property, it fits our needs well.

There were a few maintenance issues that need to be attended to. There is a broken outlet cover that could be dangerous to children in one of the bedrooms. I know it is off season but, the outdoor furniture is in serious need of replacement

Owner's Response: Thanks for staying at the BeeHive! I'm glad you found the house relaxing and the location convenient. We think it's the best place for the money on the river. I keep rates as low as I can to give people an affordable river vacation. But yes, I've been meaning to get that outlet fixed. And it will be soon! And while the outdoor furniture around the upstairs deck is in great shape and very comfortable, there are some immprovements that could be made on the furniture on the lower deck. But you know what? You can't have cushions down there because the squirrels tear them apart for nests! Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and I hope you come back.

The BEST in the area!

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking to stay on the Guadalupe River, look no further ... You found the best hidden treasure in New Braunfels. The location is fantastic, and the amenities make you feel right at home. The house was clean, and close to the grocery store/gas stations. The Beehive is extra special to our family because we got engaged there, celebrated anniversaries there, and most recently, brought our new baby and family to celebrate my husbands 30th birthday there. We wouldn't stay anywhere else! There is so much to do. We enjoyed fresh brewed coffee (fully functioning kitchen/coffee pot) on the patio, fun memories on the river down below (we brought tubes, AND it has a great landing to put your lawn chairs down so you can be in the water just deep enough to not get to hot in this Texas sun), and great service. Brain, who owns the Beehive, is a fantastic host. We came back to the Beehive this trip with birthday cookies, and a couple beers in the fridge, courtesy of Brian. It really made us feel welcomed, and we can't wait to come back next summer. The cabin is also super close to the drop in point at the Guadalupe, so when the water is a little higher, we will be starting our float from the house. Great location for your next trip!

Thank you Brian for everything! We will see you soon.

Owner's Response: What a great review! Thank you so much Alicia! You know, it's one thing to provide a place for people to have fun on their vacations, but it's quite another to have a place that lives on in guests' memories because of the wonderful things that happened there. I'm very privileged to have played such a role in your lives! And if guests ever let me know about a special occasion they're celebrating, I do my best to make sure they FEEL special while they're at the house. I look forward to having you back anytime!

Pictures don't do the house justice!

  • 4 of 5

Seriously, though, the photos on HomeAway had me anxious about the niceness of the house, but we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to find a beautiful home waiting for us! Our group of 6 adults (3 couples) had plenty of room and privacy. We enjoyed the decks for morning coffee and the fire pit for evening relaxation. The tube rental places are all less than 2 miles away, there's a Brookshire's grocery store, and several restaurants, about 5 miles away, so the location is top-notch. The river access is a bit of a hike from the house, and there were a few bugs inside the house upon arrival, but other than that, the stay was perfect!

Owner's Response: HA HA, you make me laugh! I guess I should have hired a professional photographer to take the pictures! But you're right that the house is beautiful and it is so nice on the decks and down by the river at the fire pit. The scenery is so serene and you're out in the middle of the woods basically. And that's what leads to the bugs! We have semi-annual pest control but those critters get in anyway. I'm so glad you had enough privacy and space to enjoy yourselves.
