Escape to the perfect family getaway at our private lake house with almost an acre of land on an all sports lake in southwest Michigan -- only 2 hours from Chicago and 3 hours from Detroit. Our cottage has 2 bedrooms, a full bath (shower only), a fully equipped kitchen and a relaxing living room with beautiful views of Lower Scott Lake. Relax on the deck with a good book and a bottle of wine from many of southwest Michigan's local vineyards. Head to South Haven or Saugatuck - less than 15 miles away - and enjoy the local shops, art galleries, restaurants, golfing and beaches. Explore the many antique shops along the Blue Star highway, but don't forget to stop by Fenn Valley Winery for a wine tasting, Cranes Orchard for some fresh pies, and then head back and grill out on the deck. Try fishing from the dock, swim, canoe or paddle boat around the lake. Come and enjoy our hidden gem with your family or close friends!!

Relaxing stay at beautiful lake

  • 5 of 5

We wanted to give our kids an enjoyable relaxing week to start of our summer holidays before moving to Chicago for a week. They loved using the Kano or paddle boat, swinging on the rope wing or just relaxing in the hammock with a book. The less active under us preferred to try to capture the woodpeckers, humming birds and other wildlife with the camera. Plenty to see and enjoy. There was more than enough firewood to make smores in the evening. We used the gas barbeque on the deck for most of our evening meals.

Tom the owner was helpful and always replied quickly to any queries before and during our stay.

The best meal we had was in Fennville (Salt of the earth), there are also many places to choose from in nearby Southhaven.

Fennvile has a large interesting art gallery, with something to buy for different tastes and budgets. Sagatuck Dunes Park is a beautiful place if you want to swim in lake Michigan.

We really enjoyed ourselves and were sorry we had to leave, we can definitely recommend staying in this cottage!

Quaint private lake location near Saugatuck & S Haven

  • 4 of 5

Private lake location with a large quaint backyard hill leading to the lake. Enjoyed the wildlife (frogs, family of swans, birds, black squirrels) & the quiet corner of the lake with dock. Paddle boat was enjoyed by all, canoeing was fun, albeit a little leaky. Cabin was basic with nice little touches. A little musty especially in the bathroom, but nothing a few small improvements couldn't fix. We spent most of our time outdoors or on excursions-very convenient & affordable.

great property

  • 5 of 5

This property was great for our family, kids age 2 and 5. Wonderful yard and play set. Great deck and bbq grill. Fire pit, paddle boat and canoe were very fun to use. Great view of lake. Public swimming hole on Lower Scott Lake was shallow and great for kids. The town of Pullman didn't have much to offer but the Lower Scott lake community properties were nice and area felt safe. Not a bad drive to Lake Michigan which is why we came-to go to beach. We enjoyed the surrounding farm stands and blueberry picking.

We had a lovely time in early June...found everything as stated in the listing description, and more! Beautiful setting, clean, well kept property, plenty of room for the four of us, and many amenities we didn't expect all added up to one of the best vacations we've ever had. The swans and the geese were pure entertainment! We enjoyed the lake, the paddle boat, and the peacefulness of our stay. Thanks you for sharing you beautiful property!

Really Amazing Place!

  • 5 of 5

A bunch of friends and I went here for a couple days and had a fantastic time! Tom was real helpful in the arrangements (even though they changed multiple times) and the cottage was real cozy. Lake was really gorgeous and te deck was a great featre. We didn't arrange there to be oars for the canoe ready for our stay, but when we contacted Tom he was willing to pay for them!

Truly a great vacation-highly recommended!!

Relaxing week by the lake

  • 5 of 5

This cottage had everything we could think of (and much of what we brought along unknowingly) to make for a great week away. We made use of the canoe, the rowboat, and the jungle gym (high quality). Finally, the deck was huge and inviting and had a fire pit with plenty of available wood.

There is a huge lawn outside where we played lawn games, and we liked the pier for catching sunfish and taking a swim on the warmer days.

The air conditioning unit cooled the bedrooms down nicely. For day trips, we visited the blueberry orchards near the highway, as well as South Haven to fly kites and hang out at the beach.

We highly recommend this property. Clean, well-appointed, and fun for families.
