About Glenn Golcher
We actually built this chalet ourselves. It is an authentic Lindal Western Cedar Home that uses posts and beams to provide soaring spaces inside.
Glenn Golcher purchased this Chalet in 2009
Why Glenn Golcher chose Wolf Laurel
This is about as private as it gets and an excellent way to get away from the stresses of modern society. There are literally no homes directly on any side and only one home below on the street below our Street. All you see is green trees and distant Mountain views. No car horns, sirens, car alarms, other noises; strictly nature and the rustling wind. This chalet also makes for a perfect family reunion
What makes this Chalet unique

Worst Ever for Wolf Laurel
Fraudulent posting - "Newly Constructed". Absolutely not true. Zillow says that it was built in 2008. Major restoration needed. AC did not work and two "wall unit air conditioners" were provided. This was not disclosed in the ad. One exhausted hot air up the chimney (so the fire place was unusable)and the other exhausted out a screen door. Both set in the living room floor. Window would not open to allow cross ventilation. Horrible mold problem in the basement. Dead mice found in the basement. Weeds were never cut. Dust, dead bugs and cob webs in all windows. Microwave was filthy. Pots and pan were unusable. We have stayed at other places that were not quite as advertised but this one was by far the worst.
Great cabin experience for our family
The cabin was nice. It is located almost at the top of mountain so we had snow just about the whole time we were there where just 200' down the mountain had none. Very close to the ski lodge just 5 min away. And we could bring our labs with us. What more could you ask. Excellent owner / communication.
We will be back in the late spring to book again. Thanks Glenn !!
What an appreciative review you left Domenick. Please come back anytime. The fall leaf change is wonderful
Great for price.
Beautiful and cozy!
Scenery was excellent.
The chalet was great. The view in the morning was breathtaking and the owner was quick to respond with any questions we had. Loved the layout of the house. Would highly recommend and definitely stay here again.
Thanks for your kind words!
Beautiful home with excellent views!
My family of 4 spent 4 days at this location. I don’t think another car came up the same ride the whole time we were there. There was a little snow each day so we couldn’t utilize the driveway but other than that everything else was enjoyable. My Verizon phone service rarely worked but WiFi was available most of the time except for one extremely windy day where it bounced for awhile. Also not a big deal since we were to be enjoying each other and disconnecting from the norm. Excellent road to travel down to Wolf Laurel Ski. Make sure you have supplies you want because he local gas station/ small convenient store is approx 7.5 miles away with local grocery store about 20 minutes away. The fresh covered snowy mountain was breath taking.
Thanks Dawn! Glad you enjoyed your stay and skiing at Wolf Laurel!
poorly maintained, cheap appliances, no charm
This chalet is smaller than the picture would indicate. The entire lower level is an unfinished construction zone that you must walk through to get to the two person hot tub. The appliances were either broken or cheap quality, and there was a general lack of maintenance. The table on the deck looked like it was about to fall apart it was so old. There was expired food in the cupboard and leftover clothes and shoes in the closets. And maybe three towels total. And do not leave the top off the hot tub or it will never heat up again. And there is no outside area at all. We actually left a day early.
This review just leaves me dumbfounded. All I ask is that you all look at the eleven five star reviews prior to this one. I personally clean the house as the homeowner. All the appliances work.Pictures of the spaces were taken with a normal camera lens; not a panorama or wide-angle lens to suggest a larger space in this chalet. No mention in the listing of the unfinished basement which is NOT part of the rental. If one half of the toaster did not work, sorry. One would expect a hot tub to lose its temperature if you don't keep its thermal lid on in extreme winter temperatures? I have personally counted eight bath towels in my rental, NOT only three? I also live in this house when I am not renting it and have some clothing and food in the house and I mention that it my greeting booklet.. Sorry, but this review does NOT square to the previous reviews.
There is a big snow skiing resort at the base of our mountain with snow skiing and snowboarding available. Google wolfridgeski to find out more about the excellent skiing we have right here.
Renter's have access horseback riding and the Appalachian Trail within our community. There are whitewater rafting trips available in the area. There is a zip-lining adventure only 15 miles away in Marshall, NC. Asheville is an easy 35 mile commute on Interstate 26
