About marie fitzsimmons

Kirk and Marie are enjoying the golden years after raising three children and retiring from sensational careers. Marie is a former high school teacher and Kirk is a veterinarian. They are former Peace Corps volunteers and most recently served in Namibia. They love their kids, community and Seneca Lake !They are brand new grand parents and are sure baby Jores will be swimming in Seneca lake in no time at all! Son Jared is Assistant Winemaker at Damiani and they are mighty proud of the delicious wines Damiani produces. Marie and Kirk are happiest when their three children, their wonderful partners, and their grandson are visiting. Second to that-adventuring the world through volunteerism keeps them young and happy!

Why marie fitzsimmons chose Seneca Lake

Marie grew up just a couple miles up the road from Kiri's cottage. While she and Kirk have traveled the world-Hector is home. The lake, the vineyards, the rolling hills, and the sweet people make this area heavenly. Marie loves to paddle to the middle of the lake and meet her remarkable mama half way. Kirk can be found on his sail boat, rowing, paddling, and such. He does have to head to the ocean for a surf trip at least once a year..........

What makes this cottage unique

Listen to the water lap against the shore and lull you to sleep . Hang out on the screened in porch that looks over the water and offers a serenity that soothes the soul. Walk up the road to Smith Park and enjoy the trails or use the community volleyball court. Paddle in the canoe and explore the water's edge. Challenge your partner to a ping pong match on the well used table in the basement. Relax. It's so lovely.

Enjoy the remarkable wineries and the first rate restaurants. Play bocce at Damiani Wine Cellars. Listen to music at Damiani, Hazlitts, Hector Wine Company, or Two Goats. Hike the National Forest where the trails are so very beautiful. Swim in Foster Pond. Head to Watkins Glen and hike the Gorge. We love it here and know you will ,too!

Comfortable place

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable place to enjoy all the area has to offer. Nothin' fancy, but neither am I, so it all fit together nicely. If your blood pressure doesn't drop ten points when you relax on the back porch, you have more serious problems!

Wonderful accommodations, fantastic hosts, and a million dollar view

  • 5 of 5

I'm no stranger to vacation rentals - and have stayed in several in the Finger Lakes region. This trip to Kiri's Cottage was one of my best experiences and I wouldn't hesitate for a second to rebook or recommend to a friend. The cottage itself has everything you need for a relaxing time by the glorious Seneca lake and the hosts are extremely friendly and helpful. If you ever do decide to leave the stunning porch with great views - the location in fantastic. Close to some of the best wineries (The Hector Wine Company stood out!) and outdoor activities. My wife and young daughter had a blast riding horses at the nearby D&K Ranch.

To sum it all up - my family had a wonderful trip to Kiri's Cottage and hope it won't be our last one!

Relaxing and Fun

  • 4 of 5

We stayed off season in October for a wine tour weekend. The cottage was comfortable. We had 6 adults in our party but we didn't feel cramped at all. The screened in porch is great with million dollar views. Close to everything. Wish we were there in warmer weather as we would have loved to spend time on the lake.

Amazing views with plenty to do.

  • 5 of 5

This place is a complete hidden gem!! My girlfriend, dog and I went up for our anniversary and couldnt have been happier! When we arrived Marie greeted us offering to help us with our things and showing us around the property. This is a full house with a very well equipped kitchen fully furnished living and bedrooms with a huge basement/ rec room. Our favorite room in the house though was the screened in porch that over looked the lake. Marie and Kirk had everything set up on the beach that we would need ( firewood, boat, canoes , life vests ,etc). We loved how they were both there for any questions we had or help we needed but also let us enjoy their great cottage without interfering with our anniversary. And if your looking to get away from the cottage there are plenty of wineries, brewerys, restaurants and Watkins Glenn is just a short drive away. If you want a place to have great views, enjoy the water, and feel right at home but still on vacation this is your place! Thanks again Marie and Kirk we will definitely be back!

We loved it!!

  • 4 of 5

This was one of the best vacation rental we have ever stayed. The moment we entered the house, we really liked it. It was very big, clean and nicely decorated. The view from the cottage was excellent. One side of the house has got the lake view and the other side has got vineyard view. We enjoyed our breakfast in porch. We did kayaking and canoeing and loved it. The kitchen was big and well-equipped. We also did BBQ using the gas grill. There are so many vineyards near by, we did wine tasting too. We also did one day trip to Niagara falls.

We met Kirk and he gave us lots of information about the area.

Thank you, Kirk and Marie! We will come back sometime and will also recommend the house to others.
