Coast Gaurd Weekend Avail Now/ Vintage Cottage with huge Private Beach

Property Details

Updated: Jul 26, 2016
House, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, 7 Sleeps (limit) over 1000' of private beach

Classic Vintage Lake Michigan Beach House Vibe Found Nowhere Else.....

Rare vacation home close to town with its own private beach, tennis court, playground, basketball hoop etc. There are no homes or condos in downtown Grand Haven that have a private beach. It is a long walk because parking can be difficult to find at the public beaches.

We accept payment in the form of check or money order.

In Grand Haven, nestled in a wooded dune right off Lake Michigan, There are 3 small bedrooms + loft. Our cottage is part of a very small private association. You can see, smell and hear the lake form the cottage, a stones throw away.

Home is only 3/4 mile south of lighthouse - town and shares over 1500' of private Lake Michigan frontage with only twenty cottages! This is not a misprint. This unique association is directly on the beach with no busy roads to cross and just a few steps down to beach. Park in front of cottage and the low beach stairs are 100' feet away. Beach is beautiful soft sand. No Rocks. Walk for miles on our beaches!

Kayak for your use on beach.

Beach chairs and toys also available for your use.

Fine golf courses within minutes! Great bike paths. Boat launch in town.

If you visited cottages in the area as a kid this will bring back fond memories. The interior is finished in knotty pine, light colors, lots of windows and very airy. New sectional and flat screen TV. The place is made for relaxing! If you must work we have high speed internet with WIFI.

It includes updated kitchen with dishwasher and everything to make a gourmet meal!

Bathroom with two sinks shower and Jacuzzi tub.

All the comforts of home including: Fireplace, High Speed Internet ,WIFI, TV, ,NETFLIX, DVD, CD, Bluetooth Sound System, microwave, cappuccino maker,2 separate dining areas, breakfast bar with stools etc.

Outside there are two large decks, gas grill, and a outdoor fireplace for cool evenings. We have a large table that seats 6-8 and another picnic table. Several comfortable chairs for relaxing.

You can see the big blue lake through the pine trees. You can also hear the waves and enjoy the cool breezes night and day. It is very peaceful and secluded. You will not believe you are less then a mile from large grocery stores!

Sleeps 7. Bring bed linens and bath-beach towels, everything else is here!

3 Full-size beds one queen.

No Pets (pet allergies in our family) - No Smoking.

There is no cleaning fee! We ask you to leave the home exactly the way you found it. If you prefer to use our cleaners let us know the fee is 75. .

This is our vacation home, not a full time rental. We prefer to think of you as a friend using our cottage then a renter.

If you want a condo in town or hotel accommodations, this is not for you. If you want one of the coolest vintage cottages in Grand Haven, with its own private beach this is for you.

Note: We sometimes have extra days available during the week. Please inquire with dates. The worst we can say is no. Thanks.

**Spring and fall color at discount rates.

*This is not a house in town with a mile walk to a crowded public beach with little parking, you will end up walking a mile or more to reach the public beach. It is not a cottage in Spring Lake with a 2 mile drive to Lake Michigan and town. Don't be fooled, if you are looking for a beach house check into the the beach access. If you like to stay off the water then town is a great spot to look.

We want you to enjoy your time here matter where you stay.

About the Owner

We purchased this special place by chance, with children on the way. Our two boys are now teenagers and been here every summer of there life. The memories are endless and they seem to appreciated it more as they get older. We still keep toys and books from there little days for other tikes to play with. We sometimes talk about an addition or such and determine it is a great beach house that works perfectly for us.

We love the beach and are blessed to be on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. I never get tired of the word "Beach"!

Nice week

  • 3 of 5

The property wasn't exactly what we were expecting, but the week turned out to be very nice.

I would describe this house as more of a mountain cabin than a beach house. It is nestled up on a wooded hillside. Property is described differently in two different sections of the listing. "Notes" says 100 FEET from the beach and another section says it is 100 YARDS from beach. It is about 100 yards from beach access, then probably another 100 yards over the dunes to the beach. Before booking, make sure you look at a satellite map to see the exact proximity to the beach. I unfortunately did not do that and was expecting to be 100' from the beach.

The beach is private and it is shared with several other private homes in this development so there is activity on the beach. We stayed a week after a rainy week and the beach was extremely small. It was fine for walking or sitting in a chair to read, but not enough space to spread out blankets and toys. We drove to the public beach for the daytime then walked the private beach in the evenings. Kayak and beach chairs were very nice.

Although we worried about sharing one bathroom, this was not an issue for six of us.

Deck is lovely and outdoor fireplace is great! House is equipped with everything you need. Charming and comfortable with furnishings and decor.

There is no AC, but the evening breezes make sleeping comfortable. It does get a little warm inside during the day if you choose to stay in.

Stairs to the house require a little stamina, but we all had stronger legs when we left.

Overall it was a nice stay.

Awsome Beach. Secluded yet near everything.

  • 5 of 5

We love the Tree house. The first thing you say when you walk in is "cool"! So unique, never seen anything like it. It is a real Beach House.

This was our second time in this great cottage. The private beach is amazing with almost no one on it. It is an easy walk to the lighthouse or town. The cottage is always clean and neat as a pin. Everything we needed was there. The kids love reading the signs on the walls and looking for new photographs all over the home. The decks are great, very comfortable with a huge dining table and new gas grill. If the beach gets to hot the deck offers AC like temps surrounded by large trees and a good view of the lake. We enjoyed the deck fireplace for smors and long talks more then once. The kids headed to the playground after the lake. Its only a couple hundred feet from the cottage and provides parents some quiet time.

The town of Grand Haven, no more then a 5 minute ride from the house. It offers shopping, dining and entertainment in a quaint, walkable atmosphere. The boardwalk and lighthouse along the river is a must. Cant wait to be back next year. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

From the Owner

Great Private Beach. Private parking directly in front of cottage. The beach is just steps from the house. Try to find many others. There are only a handful in all of GH. This site is littered with homes and condos no were near the big lake. If you are looking for a beach vacation look for homes beside Lake Michigan. Enjoy your stay!
