Your own home on SSI!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at all 3 Island Cottage Company Cottages and had a great experience at all of them! St. Simons Island is a wonderful place to vacation and these houses make you feel like you have your own home there! Michele is wonderful to work with and has everything ready for your arrival. We most recently stayed at the Heron Cottage and it was amazing. We had our parents with us and kids (6 total) and it was very comfortable and lots of room. The upstairs suite was perfect for the grandparents and the downstairs rooms were quiet enough for our kids to sleep while the adults stayed up. I would highly recommend staying in one of the cottages! They are also very close to the beach, restaurants, the grocery store and golf!

Perfect rental in an ideallocation

  • 5 of 5

The Heron Cottage is the perfect place to stay on Saint Simon’s Island. It is located within minutes of the beach and the village in a quiet neighborhood. The house is very attractive and comfortable, and accommodates 6 -8 people. It is delightfully furnished and decorated, very well designed and kept up, and well fitted out with everything you might want to enjoy your island time. If you need it, look for it and you likely will find it! Beautiful master bedroom and bathroom with spa tub. The large relaxing porch at the back looks out to the yard and trees beyond. Michelle and Scott, the owners, are lovely and live close by. They are always responsive to needs and quick to be there to address any problems or questions. This is a great vacation rental. Just make sure to get your booking in early!

A great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at Heron Cottage many times over the years. It is a beautiful house, clean, well maintained, and in a location convienent to shopping, beach, and the pier. The three bedrooms are separated, each with a bath, which gives everyone their space. In November, we especially enjoy the fireplace on the back porch. The living area is open and the kitchen has all the supplies we need for cooking. Michele is friendly and easy to work with. We have stayed here many times...we keep coming back. It's a great place to stay!

Wonderful place to stay on St. Simon's Island!

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely cottage - clean, spacious, well-equipped, and very convenient by car or bike to most of the attractions on the island. Michele is a thoughtful hostess and had wine and cheese waiting for us! And she kept in touch with us in case we needed anything. We would definitely stay in the Heron Cottage again.

Great property! Beautiful, wonderful location!

  • 5 of 5

I was a guest of Heron Cottage for a week at the end of July 2016. From the time I reached out to inquire about dates and availability, to the time we departed, everything exceeded my expectations. The pictures and description online were absolutely reflective of the actual property. The home is immaculate, well appointed, and even the kitchen has one of everything you would need if you plan to cook. Also, I can't say enough about Michele and Scott and how welcoming and helpful they were.

The location of the home is in great proximity to everything. You could go just about everywhere on the island by bicycle. The screened in patio on the back of the home (with a fireplace) was a great place for breakfast in the mornings and to unwind in the evenings. We even turned on the fireplace very briefly for the kids to roast hot dogs and marshmallows for smores.

Scott and Michele clearly take pride in this home and the experience they provide their customers. They personify the definition of going above and beyond. All of the excellent reviews you see online for this property and their company are well deserved. If you are considering a vacation in Saint Simon's Island, you should absolutely consider Heron Cottage or any property owned by Island Cottage Company. You won't be disappointed.

The Heron Cottage Rental

  • 5 of 5

This cottage with 3 bedrooms, 3 full baths, was very comfortable, the beds were comfortable, the kitchen was fully furnished, they had a 4 burner gas grill which worked great, there is a grass lawn backyard which was perfect for the kids playing outaide, there is a great outdoor hot/cold shower, the large screened porch was perfect for outside dining, the dining table easily accomodated 6 people. The Owners were very accomodating-they even brought over a Keurig coffee maker (in addition to the regular coffee maker that was already there). There are even robes in two of the bedrooms! The cottage was very clean. The Owners supplied misc. items like laundry detergent, d.w. soap, basic spices, trash bags, etc. Overall the customer service was outstanding. We will definitely rent this cottage again!

The Pool - It might be the only public pool located right on the water on this coast! It is located

right next to the

lighhouse and is absolutely beautiful (the pride of St. Simons). Swim lessons are offered in the

summertime and

lots of locals gather here. Parents can visit the library, the shops or just take a walk while the

kids swim. Big

kids can ride down by themselves to join their friends!

Dining - From locally prepared seafood at many fine local

establishments, to some of our great southern BBQ with sweet tea,

dining on St. Simon's Island is always a great experience. A whole

range of dining options begins in the village, just down the street.

A quiet walk to and from dinner is one of our family's favorite

things about living in this area!

days weather permitting; Inland Waterway fishing excellent year-

round; surf fishing right on the beach or at the Pier. Try your hand

ride your bikes all the way to the north end of the island to tour

Christ Church and Fort Frederica, the site of the original settlement

on St. Simons Island.

Shopping - Historic and quaint, St. Simons Island Village is within

shops at the famous Cloister Resort are just a few miles away for the

Pilot? St. Simons Island McKenna airport is less than a mile from

the cottage.

Sports Fan? Jacksonville is home to the NFL's largest stadium -

Alltel Stadium - brand new and located 60 minutes away. Catch a

Jaguars game.

This is also home to the annual Georgia-Florida rivalry. During

Football season you can join the many who come to St. Simons Island

for all the festivities.

Like the Theatre? Choose from our local theatre group, the Island

Players, located in the Village next to the library or take a drive

to Jacksonville or Savannah where several fine theatres present

extraordinary shows for your entertainment. The Alhambra Dinner

Theatre presents dinner and fine Broadway shows. The Florida Theatre

hosts the Symphony, Pops and many fine traveling Jazz, Dance and

other entertainers each season. Each year the FCCJ Artist Series

featuring Broadway shows has a number of fine shows at the Time-Union

Center for the Performing Arts.

Museums - The Cummer Museum, Brest Planetarium, Zoological Gardens,

Museum of Modern Art, Aviation Museum, Maritime Museum Society,

Museum of Southern History and Kingsley Plantation are just some of

the major attractions that make wonderful regional day trips.

Go to the Zoo! Just 60 minutes south is the beautiful Jacksonville

Zoo, positioned along the St. John's river. The zoo is quite nice

and can take a full day to see everything properly.

Visit the Millionaire's Village on Jekyll Island, just south of St.

Simons, for a view of how the rich and famous vacationed during the

Industrial Revolution. Family 'cottages' with names like Morgan and

Carnegie await you during this short 1/2 day trip.
