The Lilypad Lakehouse is our vacation home in Michigan. It is located 30 miles south of Grand Rapids near the town of Hastings, MI on Algonquin Lake.
Relax to sunset views of Indian island from the deck. The sandy swim area with landscpaped beach equals hours of summer fun & leisure. Enjoy excellent waterskiing, quiet fishing, on the all sports 240 acre Algonquin Lake. As a private lake, Algonquin Lake offers its residents peaceful recreation without the crowds of public lakes. Water skiiers enjoy the slalom course. Fishermen benefit from a healthy bass population and a growing walleye propulation as a result of an active fish stocking program. Enjoy evenings gathering around the built in fire-pit.
Each 4th of July, the Algonquin Lake Community Association sponsers a pig roast, 5K run, decoratvie boat parade, and a fireworks show from Snake Island, which can be viewed from the deck and beach. Algonquin Lake is a 30 minute drive to Grand Rapids and a 40 minute drive to Lansing, Kalamazoo, and only 3 hours from Detroit.
This is a no smoking cottage. We are very strict regarding this policy. Cancer is too devastating to support the use of tobacco products. There is no smoking anywhere on the Lilypad Lakehouse property.
Very well maintained property with lots of outdoor seating and outdoor deck space. Adequate space for our whole family with an downstairs family area as well as upstairs. The kitchen was fully stocked with pots and pans and dishes. We did all of our cooking and grilling here.
The swimming area was a little mucky and weedy but the lake itself was wonderful to swim in, boat on, and fish on. Great fishing!
We had to text the owner a couple of times and received prompt response.
We hope to go back to this property next year again!
First of all, the owners Bruce and Jennifer couldn't be better. Very accommodating, accessible and responsive even by txt msgs.
The house was perfect for our family reunion with our children, spouses and 6 grandkids all under the age of 6. (thankfully we brought a baby gate for the deck) We had plenty of room inside and outside without being on top of each other. Spacious kitchen and living room with extra tables and chairs for all to sit together during meals. Outside as well Both level decks were very spacious and plenty of furniture. The upper deck was especially nice to sit out early in the morning and evening to watch the sunsets from a high vantage point. Even had plenty of chairs at both levels and lawn furniture including multiple umbrellas for the decks and yard.
Yard was extensively landscaped including a very nice campfire area (wood included!) lawn was well cared for and spacious for games.
The multiple kayaks were a hit with all ages. Even our 6 yr old grandson kayaked out the island and loved kayaking thru the tunnel to the other lake. Even one of our daughter-in-laws who was 7 mos pregnant went kayaking.
We are a waterskiing family, so having the slalom course was icing on the cake. Plus having the pontoon available was great for the rest to float and watch others ski and tube. And when we went out at dusk to ski, the rest could sit on the deck and watch us thru the slalom course during sunset.
Being a private lake, the traffic was very reasonable and even gracious when we wanted to use the slalom course.
The owners hauled in sand which made it perfect place for the grandkids to play in.
The only negative was the lake bottom and time of the year. Was not fun to wade in and swim, leafy bottom and being in the springtime when we were there, the floating stuff was not fun but fortunately was only near the shoreline.
The only recommendations I would make is allow rent/use of the paddle boat that was in the garage and while it was nice not to have to rely on the TV for entertainment, it would have been nice for movies or watching our videos/pictures of the day
Overall, it was a great spot and amenities exceeded our expectations and the owners were great.
I would definitely recommend it.
Our family rented the house for a birthday celebration and family reunion...so we had both sides of our family coming and going throughout the week...EVERYONE LOVED the home..very clean, nice appliances, nice cookware, comfortable beds, breathtaking landscape and views!!!! The town is nice and enough to do to keep us going all week. Bruce is great about info before and during our stay. I would love to return, if our expenses would allow it. I highly recommend Lillypad Lake House for your vacation time!!!
We really enjoyed our week stay with great views, very private lake, kayaking was great, and fishing was good. There was plenty of room for our entire famly to enjoy each other. The sandy beach was great for the kids. Plenty of backyard space on the lake. Will surely go back again. Owner very easy to work with. Thanks for a great time!!!!!
