Great Lakeside Retreat
My Family and I truly enjoyed our stay. The cabin is wonderful inside and out. Paul was always quick to respond to my questions and by the time we arrived at the cabin all my worries were gone. I was able to unlock the gate without issue and get into the cabin with no issues.
The #1 hit for my family was the tree swing. My kids just loved it. Even my wife had a go. I was the designated launcher/pusher. Just an absolutely wonderful time with so many new memories. The lake was beautiful too.
I would definitely return to the property. All our expectations were met.
Very nice and clean! Great to be able to just walk out to the water. I highly recommend!
It was a beautiful winter wonderland!
An incredible cozy log cabin! Very clean, remodeled and comfortable! The owner was available at any moment and answered any questions.
Brought the whole family and we all had a wonderful time. We would rent again!
The bonus is that is snowed and it was beautiful.
Thank you so much for choosing our cabin for your stay in the White Mountains and we are thrilled you had a wonderful time by the lake. I'm going to steal the snow pictures you sent and add them to the listing! We would love to host your family again in the future and wish you a Happy New Year and an amazing 2019! We hope to hear from you soon.

Great Vacation Getaway
We can't thank Lisa and Paul enough for allowing us to share their beautiful mountain cabin! The property was clean and well maintained and Lisa and Paul went out of their way to make sure the accommodations were up to standards. The location of the cabin was ideal! The excursion included our 5 grandchildren ranging in ages 5 to 17 and they thoroughly enjoyed being able to fish practically out the back door. I'm certain none of them had ever spent so much time outdoors! Our 14 year old grandsons said it was the best vacation they have ever had and we agree.
The deck and view from this cabin is lovely, the highlight of our stay. Beautiful cottonwood trees and more ducks and geese than you can count. Upon our arrival things looked a little rough as the grass had not been cut but the owner sent someone to cut it first thing the next morning.
The property fronts on the lake and the description says you can fish "right in our own backyard", but alas, not true. The waters edge is very marshy, weedy and highly fertilized by the water fowl. The clearer waters of Rainbow Lake are not accessible for fishing from this property so fishermen be warned. A dock would solve this problem.
During the first few days there was an offensive odor that would come and go throughout the house and we thought there was a problem with the septic tank until the neighbor told us there was no septic system, it was a gas leak. They had had a problem a week or so prior to our arrival and apparently it had not been fixed. We contacted the owner and he had someone come out and repair it.
We love to grill. Several days prior to arriving at the cabin I called and asked if the advertised grill was gas. We were pleased to be told that it was but when we went to use it I was extremely disappointed to find it so encrusted with someone's prior dinner(s)it would take hours to make it serviceable. Not how I want to spend precious vacation time.
The interior of the cabin is clean. The kitchen has a lot of counter space and it is equipped with most everything you would need. I might suggest putting handles on the cupboards and drawers though in order to access what's inside. Lighting over the sink would be very helpful too.
The living room has nice seating but, as with every room in the cabin, there is not a single lamp, not one. Everything is lit with dim overhead ceiling light. There are also, no end tables, coffee tables and only 1 night stand in 1 bedroom. If you enjoy reading you will not find a comfortable place to do so in the evenings. If you are looking for a place to put your alarm clock, glasses, etc. you will have to use the floor. I must say, that this fact was clearly portrayed in the photos but it just didn't occur to me that someone would actually rent a place without these simple amenities, something you would get at a Motel 6.
As I said, the best feature of this property was the deck and the view.
Thank your for your review. While I feel this review is unfair and factually incorrect, the review should be included amongst the many positive reviews we have received. As vacation rental owners, we strive to exceed the expectations of all of our renters. We realize that this is probably not possible, but still a noble goal.
In reference to the above complaints,I will address them all for the sake of future renters that may pass up the opportunity to rent our log cabin based on this review.
The cabin is furnished beautifully with everything one would expect during a lake house getaway. Sorry, no knick knacks, lamps or tables to clutter every room. There is ample lighting in the living room and kitchen and lighted ceiling fans in every bedroom. We have 5 drawer dressers in every room, but have put them in the closets in order to preserve the space of each bedroom. There is an alarm clock and a nightstand in one of the bedrooms for those who prefer a wake up call.
The kitchen is indeed fully stocked and prepared for groups large and small. We chose not to put drawer pulls on our custom hand made pine cabinetry as each style we tried detracted from the natural beauty of the wood. The design of the doors and drawers allows for easy access.
On the deck you will find a Kenmore Stainless 3 burner grill that will give you a beautiful vantage point for your lakeside barbecue with your family. We contract with a local professional landscaping service to maintain the yard and allow for enjoyment of the lakefront. The lakefront absolutely allows for fishing and my cove is known among the professional bass fisherman as one of the best spots to land trophy bass. We have personally caught countless fish there. Weeds within the water are prevalent in summer months in the shallows but the waterfront is un obstructed and beautiful. We even include a 2/3 person kayak for our guests that prefer a little more lake adventure.
At no point would we ever put our guests at risk. We have an Amerigas propane tank approximately 50 feet from the property. One week prior to this stay our house keepers complained of a brief smell of what they thought was an animal. We immediately had our pest control service come out and thoroughly inspect the interior of our cabin and the sub structure. When our renters called with a possible gas smell, an emergency tech was sent within 30 minutes and a repair was made to the tank, not within the home.
Arizona's White Mountains offer something for everyone. Bring your boat or fish from shore and enjoy some of the best fishing in the white mountains right in your back yard. Lake is known for Rainbow Trout, Small Mouth Bass, Pike and even Catfish. Gas motors are permitted up to maximum of 10hp. Take a short car ride to hiking, mountain biking or even horseback riding. 10 minutes to the heart of Pinetop and all the local fine dining and shopping. 30 minutes to the Sunrise Ski Resort makes this a perfect winter destination. Winter visitors will enjoy the family of Bald Eagles that calls our lake home.
