Hi Paul. Happy New Year!

Back in Hermosillo I wanted tell you that we had a very good time in your Pine Top cabin with all my family together.

We had a lot of snow. The view of the lake from the cabin was beautiful. EJ helped us with the road.

We went to ski but we spent a lot of time in the cabin too. We are thinking to rent again in the next december form more days.

Great Vacation Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We can't thank Lisa and Paul enough for allowing us to share their beautiful mountain cabin! The property was clean and well maintained and Lisa and Paul went out of their way to make sure the accommodations were up to standards. The location of the cabin was ideal! The excursion included our 5 grandchildren ranging in ages 5 to 17 and they thoroughly enjoyed being able to fish practically out the back door. I'm certain none of them had ever spent so much time outdoors! Our 14 year old grandsons said it was the best vacation they have ever had and we agree.

Our favorite Pinetop Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Pines, cool weather and rustic knotty pine log lakefront home set the stage for the escape we enjoyed on our short getaway vacation with hiking and trout fishing. The property was clean and comfortable with amenities of home but with the feel and views of camping out. The two story cabin included, 4 BR, 2 full baths, large kitchen, fireplace, washer/dryer, television etc. There is an expansive back wood deck porch where the grand kids had fun playing and eating smores. You may like to bring a boat; although, rentals are available on the lake. Nearby activities include horseback riding, skiing and plenty of fishing and hunting in season. Dining can be a pizza at the Hut, steak at Cattleman's, or filleted walleye at Charlie Clarks. It was nice of the owners to have a separate refrigerator outside for beverages and freezing our fresh fish. The two juvenile eagles in the huge tree by the lake will be a sight I'll remember forever. Will definitely recommend to our friends.

Making Memories - Family, Friends & Cabin Fun

  • 5 of 5

Great cabin rental.....fantastic family experience.

What an amazing Memorial Day weekend our family enjoyed at your cabin. The relaxing mountain getaway we were seeking, with all the cozy comforts of home. I had to work while we were at the cabin, and there was plenty of room not to inconvenience everybody else......and Wi-Fi for an easy connection away from the office.

My kids thoroughly enjoyed fishing off the shore with their cousins, and the ease of maneuvering kayaks or a small boat into the lake. The cabin view is breathtaking, with enough room on the deck for everybody to enjoy dinner, dice, or kicking back for some downtime. BBQ made easy on the back deck, and the spacious kitchen was stocked with all we might need to prepare anything from a family fiesta to Italian wedding soup.

There was plenty of room for a family treasure hunt, horse shoes, parking, and relay races. The tree swing made for hours of laughter over the water. We enjoyed having the option to watch a family movie in the cozy living room, with plenty of room for the entire family sprawl out comfortably. The rooms & loft area upstairs was an awesome feature of this cabin, as we were able to stay up late playing cards or games without disturbing the relaxing slumber of other family and friends.

The game cabinet was perfect for a variety of activities including dice, board and card games. I was particularly happy to have the washer and dryer for "fishy" clothes after a day out on the lake. Everybody enjoyed warm showers.....and the option for A/C if the weather was on the warm side.

Thank you! Staying at this cabin was the perfect mountain escape for our family, and we looking forward to coming back again.

Once again we had a fabulous time! We were the first to arrive and cabin was spotless. My daughter was happy to be the first one on the tree swing. She also caught her first trout on this trip and tried out the kayak. Just a great place to relax. Love sitting on the deck with the view of the lake. Appreciate the air conditioning in the summer and the well stocked kitchen. We will be back!

Lovely View

  • 2 of 5

The deck and view from this cabin is lovely, the highlight of our stay. Beautiful cottonwood trees and more ducks and geese than you can count. Upon our arrival things looked a little rough as the grass had not been cut but the owner sent someone to cut it first thing the next morning.

The property fronts on the lake and the description says you can fish "right in our own backyard", but alas, not true. The waters edge is very marshy, weedy and highly fertilized by the water fowl. The clearer waters of Rainbow Lake are not accessible for fishing from this property so fishermen be warned. A dock would solve this problem.

During the first few days there was an offensive odor that would come and go throughout the house and we thought there was a problem with the septic tank until the neighbor told us there was no septic system, it was a gas leak. They had had a problem a week or so prior to our arrival and apparently it had not been fixed. We contacted the owner and he had someone come out and repair it.

We love to grill. Several days prior to arriving at the cabin I called and asked if the advertised grill was gas. We were pleased to be told that it was but when we went to use it I was extremely disappointed to find it so encrusted with someone's prior dinner(s)it would take hours to make it serviceable. Not how I want to spend precious vacation time.

The interior of the cabin is clean. The kitchen has a lot of counter space and it is equipped with most everything you would need. I might suggest putting handles on the cupboards and drawers though in order to access what's inside. Lighting over the sink would be very helpful too.

The living room has nice seating but, as with every room in the cabin, there is not a single lamp, not one. Everything is lit with dim overhead ceiling light. There are also, no end tables, coffee tables and only 1 night stand in 1 bedroom. If you enjoy reading you will not find a comfortable place to do so in the evenings. If you are looking for a place to put your alarm clock, glasses, etc. you will have to use the floor. I must say, that this fact was clearly portrayed in the photos but it just didn't occur to me that someone would actually rent a place without these simple amenities, something you would get at a Motel 6.

As I said, the best feature of this property was the deck and the view.

Owner's Response: Thank your for your review. While I feel this review is unfair and factually incorrect, the review should be included amongst the many positive reviews we have received. As vacation rental owners, we strive to exceed the expectations of all of our renters. We realize that this is probably not possible, but still a noble goal. In reference to the above complaints,I will address them all for the sake of future renters that may pass up the opportunity to rent our log cabin based on this review. The cabin is furnished beautifully with everything one would expect during a lake house getaway. Sorry, no knick knacks, lamps or tables to clutter every room. There is ample lighting in the living room and kitchen and lighted ceiling fans in every bedroom. We have 5 drawer dressers in every room, but have put them in the closets in order to preserve the space of each bedroom. There is an alarm clock and a nightstand in one of the bedrooms for those who prefer a wake up call. The kitchen is indeed fully stocked and prepared for groups large and small. We chose not to put drawer pulls on our custom hand made pine cabinetry as each style we tried detracted from the natural beauty of the wood. The design of the doors and drawers allows for easy access. On the deck you will find a Kenmore Stainless 3 burner grill that will give you a beautiful vantage point for your lakeside barbecue with your family. We contract with a local professional landscaping service to maintain the yard and allow for enjoyment of the lakefront. The lakefront absolutely allows for fishing and my cove is known among the professional bass fisherman as one of the best spots to land trophy bass. We have personally caught countless fish there. Weeds within the water are prevalent in summer months in the shallows but the waterfront is un obstructed and beautiful. We even include a 2/3 person kayak for our guests that prefer a little more lake adventure. At no point would we ever put our guests at risk. We have an Amerigas propane tank approximately 50 feet from the property. One week prior to this stay our house keepers complained of a brief smell of what they thought was an animal. We immediately had our pest control service come out and thoroughly inspect the interior of our cabin and the sub structure. When our renters called with a possible gas smell, an emergency tech was sent within 30 minutes and a repair was made to the tank, not within the home. Thank you Paul
