2 Bed + Loft/2 Bath ~ Private Home

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,250 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 4 nights

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, Sleeps 6

The casa is a 2 bedroom with a small loft... it accommodates up to 6 guests, with plenty of room to spread out. The home could easily accommodate a larger group based upon size, we choose to limit the occupancy to prevent undue wear. Maintenance and the comfort of guests is a top concern.

Located in a secluded section of the Nosara nature preserve, only a short walk to the beautiful beaches of Pelada and Guiones (3-4 minute walk to Pelada, approximately 300 meters; and 10-minute walk to Guiones, along the jungle path).

The location is very private, adjacent to the nature preserve, and frequently allows for troops of howler monkeys and other fauna to pass above and by in close proximity to the home and pool area. With only a few neighbors on the cul de sac – often the only sounds you will hear are those of nature and the nearby ocean.

Many restaurants are within walking distance, including the only two in Nosara directly on the beach – La Luna (Mediterranean) and Olga's (local cuisine). There is also great Italian restaurant (Il Pepperoni) for pizza, pasta and local cuisine, as well as a wonderful Mexican restaurant (El Chivo).

Two small markets within walking distance for your daily needs. For stocking up on supplies, the Super Nosara by the airport is recommended (rental car or taxi).

*All posted 2017-2018 rates are up to date. Thank you for your interest.

The home has its own reserve water system, and is not directly impacted by the water rationing frequently in effect for all properties in the Nosara region. This feature was recently installed for the comfort of guests, but in consideration of the community's limited dry season resources, kindly be conservation conscious during your stay. Thank you for understanding.

Please use the recycling receptacles located throughout town, or separate your recyclables so that the cleaning staff can get them recycled when you check out.

Great casa, needs some maintenance

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely stay with family and friends at Los Pericos. The location is excellent, walk to the beach in Playa Pelada, we prefer this area because it is much quieter and less dusty/traffic than Guiones. The property manager, Virginie, and her team are amazing professionals, very responsive and took great care of us (including bringing propane for the BBQ on NYE!)

The house needs a bit of love. We understand it recently changed ownership and hope the new owners will invest in some minor improvements. A few things that would make for a much better stay would be a real BBQ (vs. portable camp stove), nicer bedding, a place to hang the hammock outside, a kettle for hot water, and better light fixtures (the casa feels very dark inside).

Overall though given this location, the professional management and the amenities we would recommend staying here to others.

Our second stay, first review

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at Los Pericos, and we will surely be back. Our first trip was in 2010, and the home has been well maintained since that time. We we were amazed to see to all of the growth and new foliage in the surrounding gardens! Thankfully our favorite restaurants are as good as ever and we even ventured out to find some new ones. Many years later, we feel Nosara still offers travelers the best option for a peaceful surf filled vacation in all of Costa Rica. Thanks again for accommodating us on such short notice!

Owner's Response: Hi Elaine, Thank you for your review and repeat business. Glad to hear you will be back! We appreciate your mention of the garden as we have continued to plant on the property since your last stay. With each of our family vacations, we notice how much more lush everything has gotten since our previous trip. It's amazing how well everything thrives in the jungle. The growth from one rainy season to the next is incredible.

Great town, great house

  • 5 of 5

We have been all over Costa Rica, but this was our first trip to Nosara, and we absolutely loved it. Playa Pelada has a great vibe about it and is the perfect option for families, this house in particular. We loved the restaurants within walking distance to the home, and found them more enjoyable than the ones we tried in Playa Guiones. We plan to come to Costa Rica for a longer trip in spring 2018, and think we may return to spend more time in Nosara. If we do, we hope Los Pericos is available so that we may stay here again. Thank you for providing such a wonderful vacation spot!

Owner's Response: Hi Mary, Many thanks for the review of our home! We couldn't agree more, Pelada is the gem of Nosara... and the restaurants are truly amazing. Nothing better than a quiet walk, followed by a great dinner to impress even the most critical of foodies, all leading up to a magical sunset on the Pacific. "Why yes, I think I will have another Imperial." Thanks again, and we hope you make it back to Nosara in the spring.

Great for families

  • 5 of 5

The house is well built and maintained, we really enjoyed our stay, and LOVED the pool! My wife and two little ones spent a week here during the "dry season" which we were told by the property manager was rather mild this year. Our friends rented another home, not too far away and also very nice, but as we found out -- lacking a reserve water system as is installed in Los Pericos. Our friends experienced regular water shutoffs on most days of their stay.

Apparently this is an issue that impacts many of the rental homes in the region. Needless to say, we were able to take showers, wash dishes, and flush our toilets, which we were VERY happy about, considering we had our girls with us. We love adventure as much as the next, but prefer to stay in a place that is able to provide the true comforts of home. Thank you for opening up your beautiful casa to our family, we will stay here again!

Owner's Response: Hi Neil, Thank you for your review! It would be awesome if you and your family decided to stay with us again in the future. We are sorry to hear about the water rationing at your friend's rental home, but happy to hear that our home’s reserve water system was greatly appreciated by you and your family. I'll never forget our first experience with the dry season rationing some years back. Turning the faucet to find no water was quite a surprise, so we immediately put the reserve tank solution on our priority list, so that our guests wouldn't experience any such discomfort when staying at our home. Also, Neil I would like to express our sincere gratitude for being such a thoughtful guest. I really appreciate that you took the time to send me a private email explaining the steps you and your family took to be water conscious, even in consideration of our home's private water reserve. This means a lot to us! Nosara is both beautiful and remote, but with that we are aware of our limited resources and the need to conserve whenever and wherever possible. Neil, your family is always welcome back at Los Pericos, Pura Vida!

Stay here, be happy!

  • 5 of 5

Our trip was too short! We loved the house and all it offered our family. It is close to the beach and restaurants, we particularly loved the pizza place and Olga's. We will stay here again.

Owner's Response: Hi Sylvia, thank you for taking the time to review your stay! We agree, the pizza place and Olga's are excellent choices, we eat at both whenever in town. It would be wonderful if you decide to stay at Los Pericos again in the future, it will give you a chance to try some of the other great restaurants Pelada has to offer, such as La Luna, which has absolutely amazing food and unparalleled ocean front ambiance. Perhaps you made it there, if even just for sunset cocktails? It's the closest of all the restaurants to our home. Thank you again!

Great home, wonderful location!

  • 5 of 5

Los Pericos was an awesome place to call home while we were in Nosara. We stayed here during the last week of our 3 week Costa Rica adventure, a nice place to unwind before we headed back to the states. The owner is responsive, the house is secure and well kept, and the pool is awesome!

We flew into Nosara on one of those little planes, so we opted to go without a car. It was easy enough to get a local taxi form the airport and the driver was kind enough to stop at the Super Nosara to pick up supplies on our way to check in. The small markets in Playa Pelada were sufficient for our needs throughout the remainder of our week. The area is less developed than the other places we stayed through our trip, but we managed fine without a car as the restaurants and mini-marts in Pelada were less than a 5 minute walk.

Overall a wonderful trip to Costa Rica and we are glad we came here last, as Nosara and Los Pericos were truly the highlight of our trip! We will definitely be back to Costa Rica and hope this place is available when we do.

Just curious, what's the big blue thing on the back end of the property?

Owner's Response: Thanks Jaron, glad you had such a nice time in our little beach casa! We would love it if you and your family would stay with us again on your next trip to Costa Rica. Good to hear you made due without a car, that question comes up a lot when people inquire about our home, as it can be a rather large expense. To answer your question, that "blue thing" is our reserve water system. It keeps our showers flowing and toilets flushing during the dry season when water rationing is in effect.

What makes this house unique

The home is walking distance to both Playa Pelada and Guiones. The street on which the house is located, while close to all, is extremely private and to describe it best -- Off the beaten path. The location embodies everything you will love about Costa Rica. Oh yeah, the secluded location allows for troops of howler monkeys to frequent the trees above the pool... Very cool!
