Why Susan Gouinlock chose Folly Beach
My grandmother owned a house on the beach on Folly and I grew up spending wonderful times there eating ice cream on Center Street and playing in the surf. We ate (and eat) lots of locally caught fresh seafood. Folly has only gotten better over the years because the City, the County and the State of SC do a great job of protecting the coast from over-development.
What makes this House unique
Original Low Country charm updated with wi-fi, flat screen TVs and just across the street from the beach. Take a nap on one of the shady porches. Book a dinner cruise in Charleston Harbor, take a tour of an historic home or plantation or shop in Charleston for art, antiques or souvenirs.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date. 50% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
Great space for large families!
Great home with plenty of space for my parents, husband, kids and my brother’s family. It was nice having separate living spaces and kitchens. We ended up only cooking in the downstairs kitchen since it had more counter space but definitely used everything else in the upstairs kitchen such as fridge and coffee pot. We did have to keep borrowing from the upstairs kitchen which seemed to be better stocked so we were glad we’d rented the entire house. We loved the screened porches in the early mornings and late evenings. The beach was just across the street and the outdoor shower made rinsing off a breeze. The beds were super comfortable and there were plenty of extra blankets. Our only minor complaint is the downstairs screened porch had not been swept very well but it gave my mom something to do and didn’t deter us from hanging out there. Susan was easy to get in contact with and when we didn’t find the house key until after my parents got to the airport, she didn’t panic and just asked us to stick it in the mail. It’s an older home but very charming!
I am delighted this extended family enjoyed their stay at 806 West! I am disappointed the downstairs porch was not properly swept before their arrival and will make sure the cleaning service is aware of the issue and does better before their next visit. :)
Folly Family Vacation
really cool older eclectic house with great karma! Front screened in porch is a great gathering spot. Hope to be back soon!
I am so glad you enjoyed our Low Country Lady; built in 1924 and still making great family memories!
Wonderful vacation home
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend at this wonderful house. We rented the whole house and found everything that we could possibly need. We loved spending time together on the front porch -- more than enough space for all 14 of us to sit and enjoy ourselves. The beach is right across the street so was easy walk for our grandkids to walk. There is so much character to this house. It is close to everything yet far enough away that you feel like you have a weekend away from it all. I highly recommend renting this home.
It feels great to share our vacation home with others who seek out her Low Country character. That's what we like too. Thanks for the kind review and I hope you can visit again soon!
This is a very quaint cottage. Clean, convenient and was a good fit for our group.
We are delighted to share our beachy home away from home with folks who appreciate her Low Country authenticity. Thanks for the nice review!
The property itself was awesome location & so much room for our guest!
We wished there was more yard & firepit wasn’t in a condition to use it. There were a few water leaks in the screened porch. The cushions were soaking wet. The grill was horrible. Had mold & moss on it. There was a dirty towel hanging in the back of bedroom door. These are somewhat minor issues & we thought there was nothing that could be done while we were there. In saying that, the location was fantastic & it did fit all our needs for why we were there. The owner was very quick on responses when we were planning our trip. We would rent it again if these issues were no longer issues!!
The winter is a tough time to keep the porch dry - there are no leaks in the porch roof but winter winds and rain drive the wet into the vulnerable screened porch. Thank you for letting me know the grill had not been cleaned. It has been addressed. Next time, let me know and I will get it taken care of immediately. The cleaning crew obviously missed that towel. Delighted that otherwise you enjoyed your stay and I hope you will visit again soon!
Carolina Beach Music
Comes with all the bells and whistles with the just the right amount of patina to make you feel like you're going to the beach in a house you grew up in. Absolutely loved everything about the house and the owners exemplify excellence. Old wooden windows and doors, floors that creek a little when walk across. The cool breeze blowing on the upstairs porch at nights. Even had a deer feeding on the figs in the backyard. Just steps from the beach. I can't say enough about this house. This house had way more character than any of the large newly renovated houses up and down the beach. You're really missing out if you dont stay here. PS Get the whole house and invite friends and family.
Wow - how delightful to have a guest experience our house in the same wonderful way that we do! I am delighted! I am also interested to learn about that very lucky deer -- we have wondered how the delicious figs disappear so quickly from the tree in the back yard. I hope our guests get a few of them between deer feedings!
Folly Beach is beautiful. It is almost entirely single family homes. There are no high rises. It is a wide beach with a laid back, island vibe. Folly Beach is close (20 minutes) to all that is historic Charleston, SC. For time off the beach, shop on Center Street or head into Charleston. See the Yorktown aircraft carrier; shop on King Street; tour historic homes; see the Battery and Fort Sumter. Tanger Outlet shopping is 30 minutes away if you catch a rainy day during your stay.
