Pleasant experience on Fire Island

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house the week before Polly K. We left the house the day she arrived and the house was spotless. There were no spider webs anywhere on the floor, maybe one or two outside, but thats nature. We also experienced no electrical difficulties which makes it hard for me to believe that there was an "explosion". My family and I usually make the 8 hour drive up to New England around this time every year, but after my 15 year old daughters many trips to fire island, she suggested to me and my husband that we go to fire island instead. My husband and my daughter found this website and found this house. We automatically put in an inquiry and the rest is history. My husband works in the city and the week we were at this house, was the most relaxing week we've had in a while. My daughter and her friends had a ball. The house is steps away from the ocean, and a stroll away from town. The house has a homey feel to it and is charming. My daughter still talks about how awesome the outdoor shower was. The owner of this house, Warren, was also very pleasant and professional. I have already recommended this house to more than one friend, one of whom is renting it next year, My family plans on renting it again next year. Over all, our experience was very pleasant and I wish I was there right now!

I only wish I could upload photos of the filthy, cobweb-covered floors, appliances and furniture in this house. All electrical is jerry-rigged with a series of greasy extension cords and outdated outlets. My little girl plugged in a lamp and a large bang with sparks flying was the result. The back deck is cluttered and unappealing with old rusty lounge chairs and plastic tarps. Don't do it.

Owner's Response: To future home owners,?in response to false accusations of Polly K. I need to tell all home owners that I have owned my home since 1987 and have been with VacationRentals(former CyberRentals) since 1997. In all those years there has never been a complaint of cleanliness, since I personally show each family upon arrival of its condition. I instruct them to immediately to call me with any complaints. This woman arrived on Sunday with two children and a very large dog. She inspected each room, floor to ceiling and approved of the condition of my home and stated “how charming it was”. 5 days later (Friday) she called me saying that my house is now grungy and she is leaving because she saw a spider and cobweb and an explosion with a lamp, upon arriving the next day to inspect my home it was partially clean and a lamp in a bedroom was missing a bulb. She left a note for me to return her security and to credit her for the last two days of the rental agreement. I returned her security in full with no credit then she posted this fictitious review. Home owners beware of Polly K. Sincerely, Warren E.
