Great Ski House, Great Location, Great Value

  • 5 of 5

Liked everything about the house for our ski weekend. We've rented a few houses over the years and this one was by far the nicest in it's price range. Plenty of space for our group to feel comfortable in. Woodburning stove/fireplace was nice and the big open feel from each of the three floors to the outside views of the mountain were EXCELLENT. Also, close to everything yet very private. I'd recommend this to any group that wants to ski Hunter Mountain.

House with best Mountains/Lake views in the area

  • 4 of 5

Considering the past reviews, our group was certainly hesitant to book this property, but we decided to go ahead anyway, primarily because of the lake/Mountain view. We were not disappointed. The view from the deck is truly amazing and breathtaking and the pictures of that landscapes cannot replicate its beauty. Access to the lake was also super convenient and the water was clear and calm. While the interior needs some refreshing (certainly the walls would love a new paint) the view and the large deck from which you can enjoy the mountainous vista totally offset that. The house has four bedrooms and can comfortably accommodate 10 with extra mattress. The new property manager was easily accessible and very accommodative. The check in and the check out experience were easy. Overall very solid experience that totally exceeded our expectations. We would return again and recommend this property.

House with Gorgeous Mountain/Lake Views

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 10 and enjoyed our stay very much. The property is huge and the bedrooms have comfortable beds. It is certainly not a new construction and it has signs of use but still reasonably maintained. The upper and lower decks have a breathtaking views of the Hunter mountain and the lake. The lake itself is not huge but is big enough to enjoy water paddling and kayaking. Fishing was also surprisingly good. You find tons of privacy on this property yet you are only steps away from major local roads (296).

The property was clean and stocked with basic items. New BBQ and deck furniture were a nice addition. We would certainly recommend this property.

House needs improvements

  • 2 of 5

Our group was disappointed with the house this year. This is our second time coming to this property. The house had no deck table and only 2 usable chairs. On the first morning we found out there was also no coffee maker. Very shocking when your counting on a nice cup of coffee. We had to go out to buy a table and coffee maker. We donated the coffee maker to the house FYI.

There also seems to be some type of mildew or mold on the lower levels. Everyone in our group had trouble breathing at night. The house also had some unfinished repairs to the interior which was not inviting.

On the plus side the pond was beautiful and there are 2 kayaks on the dock for use. The owner also added some living room furniture which was nice.

Family vacation, 4th of July weekend

  • 4 of 5

This property was a pleasant setting for our long weekend family vacation. It has more than enough common space, and four rooms that fit our group (three couples, a toddler and a dog). The pictures on the site are accurate.

The view is beautiful, the weather was perfect. The deck is huge, but could use more outdoor furniture. The pond is not huge, but has a lot of fish (caught four decent size bass), and is quiet and peaceful. Went kayaking (included with the rental) and swimming too, which was nice.

It seems like a few changes were made by the owner to the property since the reviews from a few months ago. Still a few minor repairs need to be made, and the AC in the master bedroom needs work, but the house is not run-down or unsafe as the other reviews suggest. It's not a hotel-quality ski lodge, but a lived-in, fairly maintained seasonal home.

Did not have issues communicating with owner (responded within minutes to inquiries pre- and during trip). Welcome packet provided with detailed instructions and information. Special requests were accommodated. No issues with security deposit, since owner did not charge it.

Not a great value

  • 2 of 5

It might have been a great value a long time ago, but we think it was over priced. Pictures in website were out dated (at least for our visit, didn't check now), heating didn't work in some areas.

Took a long time to receive deposit, and only after trying to contact the owner for multiple times.
