Perfect family refuge. Water, wildlife and walking trails; 30-40 minutes NW of Nashville on Cheatham Lake. Convenient to Middle Tennessee Attractions. No telephone connection - bring cell phone. NO smoking or alcoholic beverages permitted. WE UPDATE OUR CALENDAR DAILY. PLEASE REVIEW OUR PREVIOUS GUESTS COMMENTS! All you need are your provisions and pajamas. You will be nestled in comfort with comfortable beds. Warm wood walls and floors make the Refuge a special place for your family occasion.

ADDITIONAL NOTE: In my 20 yrs of ownership and tramping every inch of the woods and waters I have never seen a poisonous snake at the Refuge. However; I have had reports recently from visitors that they had seen them. MY caution if you have little children please be aware that you are in the woods where it is possible to find a snake. Just be cautious and on the lookout. IF you see one I would like to know about it.

About Frank Andrews

Martha and I (Martha is a pet name because it is more poetic than Carolyn) grew up together and I walked her to school in 1st grade. I married her in 1959 and we have 3 children. I operate Andrews Appraisal Service with my two sons in Franklin, Tennessee.

I am a published poet and am currently writing a book of small stepping stones that I have experienced over the past 76 years. Google me at William Franklin Andrews for additional poetry.

Frank Andrews purchased this house in 1996

Why Frank Andrews chose Tennessee

This 21 acres of paradise was purchased as a company retreat in 1996. The Refuge was constructed a couple years later. We needed a place approximately 1 hour from our home in Franklin and this spot was simply the very best available.

What makes this house unique

' A PATCH OF EARTH'

I want a patch of earth to call my own

Where birds can sing and children can run free;

A spot of ground with trees and sandy loam;

A place where Martha can grow old with me.

I want to live for me what time remains;

Unfettered by the many chains that bind;

Nor captive to economy's sad strain;

I must be free so I can speak my mind.

I've had my fill of chasing earthly dreams.

The will of man with all his evil schemes;

I'll rest a while on earth while here I stay

And trust my God and hope for better days

from 'Songs of a Native Son' 2005 chronic discount books.

Guestbook comments from the manager

My wife and I along with a couple from Iowa and Michigan met at 'Our Refuge' for a reunion. This was a time for us to get reacquainted as we had worked together since the late 90's.

The lake house was more than advertised. The owner kept in touch with me prior to our arrival providing much helpful information. It was to be a very cool night on our arrival and Frank had prepared the fireplace with wood and kindling with a welcome note that said, "Just light and enjoy".

The facilities for the 6 of us allowed us to have privacy while at the same time giving us plenty of room for our together time. It was cleaned and everything was in working order. The BEDS were comfortable, the kithcne was fully furnished and all things were neat, clean and in order.

We chose Nashville as our central meeting place with us coming from Florida, Iowa and Michigan. When we dicided to get together in Nashville, I gegan a search for just this typie of facility and i'm thankful that I found this place. We had planned several activities in Nashville and knew "our Refuge" was some distance fronm downtown but we were able to plan around that with our trips combining sightseeing with selecting our eating places. We had great times together during the trips back and forth as we all were able to utilize a single vehicle.

The guys had planned to play gold, but we were only able to get one round in. It was at a local course near Ashland City and wasn't the greatest of places to play. There were other courses not much further away that would have been better experiences.

Truly a refuge

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I have arrived back home from our 3 night stay at the Refuge. We loved the house and were pleased to find it was so well stock and comfortable. Also we enjoyed the beautiful setting with the lake and Autumn leaves, not to mention all the wildlife, including a crane on the dock and 4 small deer at the top of the hill!

Thank you once again for making everything so nice and convenient for us. We are seriously considering making this our destination again next year if possible.

Great family getaway

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a 5 night stay at the Refuge with 2 families. Our 4 young boys loved fishing and running/playing in the yard and on-site playground. There is a swim dock that we used to fish and canoe as the water was not ideal for swimming during our visit (very murky).

The house is very large and family-friendly. The Refuge includes satellite TV (with DVR), satellite WiFi (okay for email and light browsing but not for streaming), fully stocked linens, and fully stocked kitchen. There are tons of books, games, and puzzles to keep you busy during your stay.

The owner was accessible and friendly. We would stay again.

Tip: If you are looking for a good activity with young kids, we visited Beaman Park (about 30 min drive) and hiked Sedge Hill Trail. There is a beautiful creek about .6 miles in that is great for crawfish and minnow fishing.

Owner's Response: Thank you for such kind review. You will always be welcome at our Refuge. Sorry about the Murky water in the lake. We have that problem when we have lots of rain. Maybe next time it will be crystal blue. FA

A Treasure!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent a full week in this lovely home. We wasn't expecting what a true treasure find this place was. It was so peaceful and off the beaten path. I had hoped to get some work done while there, but the internet was up and down (I would say basically because of the location), and that was a blessing in disguise! It caused me to have to let my mind rest as well! The owners are so helpful, and offer great communication with them as well. I would love to come back with my entire family for a getaway! Thanks for lending us your beautiful home!!

Lovely and peaceful.

Loved, loved, loved this place! It is even better than the pictures show. Lots of room and very comfortable! We celebrated our parents 50th wedding anniversary at The Refuge. It was a beautiful place to do so, and we all had a wonderful time there . Thank you, Mr. Andrews for being so delightful to work with and sharing your home with us. I wish that we could have met you and your wife in person.

Beautiful and quiet.

  • 5 of 5

This was an awesome place. We were 4 Vietnam Veterans and their wives. It was so enjoyable to sit on the back porch and watch the lake. Everything was beautiful. There were lots of books to read and a great television. We would have loved to sit around the campfire, but it rained. It was great having a bathroom for each couple. It made it so much easier getting ready in the morning. The only downfall was that there was no Wi-Fi. The telephone service was spotty there Most of us couldn't get a signal. Wi-Fi would have made it easier to keep in touch when some of us were gone. We had a great time.
