Amazing stay!

  • 5 of 5

The home is quaint and quiet with breathtaking views of the Santa Fe River. The home is set back in the country off of several dirt roads behind a state wildlife preserve. The owner had canoes, kayaks and tubes available for us to use. Canoeing on the river was very peaceful and relaxing. On our stay my son and I fished and swung from rope swings in the Santa Fe river. We also drove about 20 minutes to the Ichetuknee River State Park and canoed down it which was unbelievably beautiful. If peace and quiet is what you are looking for this is a great value and a great place to stay.

Perfect Place to Get Away From It All!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was fantastic! We were looking for somewhere to go for a short Honeymoon getaway to escape the chaos which has become our everyday lives. We are, for the most part, life-long residents of Florida and were looking for some place unfamiliar and off the beaten path. We typically tote around our 3 kids (all under 5) everywhere we go and it leaves very little "us" time. We needed some peace, quiet and to be surrounded by the natural side of Florida, away from all of the typical destinations. I can only say that we could not have picked a better place!

We were working with a limited budget and wanted somewhere to relax and just enjoy each other's company for a few days. The price we paid was very reasonable for all the Springhouse has to offer! We went as a newly married couple this time but we are definitely looking to return with our children in the future! There are Kayaks, Canoes and a number of tubes so you can use the great river access at your leisure. There is a seating area downstairs where we spent one of our nights using the grill and watching TV after a long day kayaking on the river. The storage room has cornhole boards and shuffleboard equipment to enjoy and there is a fire-pit out back. The house is fully stocked with everything you need to get by during your stay and all I would suggest is that you bring groceries because there isn't really anywhere nearby to pick anything up. Everything in the house was well-maintained and comfortable, and we had no issues during our visit.

The Springhouse is definitely off the beaten path. Keep in mind there is little-to-no cell reception at the house. My wife was able to send and receive text messages with a delay but don't plan on talking on the phone while you're there. This was ideal for us and other than having some slight worries about not being able to be reached for an emergency, I quickly realized that those "emergencies" don't happen nearly as much as people these days want to believe. The location on the Santa Fe is about a 25-30 minute float/row down river to the Itchetucknee and a little longer up river against the current.

Our stay couldn't have been better! I would suggest printing off directions because your GPS may betray you for the last few miles of the trip. Also, try arriving in the daylight as in the dark it can be a bit of a challenge navigating the final few roads. Thank you so much Carolyn! We look forward to returning in the near future!

A Great Little Place for a Get-Away!

  • 5 of 5

This cozy spot was perfect for us to unwind for an extended weekend. The house is small but comfy and offers a great variety of things to do. We enjoyed the kayaks and canoes, and a float down the Ichetucknee Springs nearby, as well several fun games for relaxing afterward. Thanks to Carolyn, our wonderful host!

Wonderful little vacation home

  • 5 of 5

We rented a large house just down the road for a large family Thanksgiving get together and needed a little more space and this house was perfect. The location is great with all the equipment you need to enjoy the river. It was spotless and comfy. Perfect for couple or small family getaway. Don't expect internet but this is not why you go to the rive anyway it is a beautiful place. My GPS actually took me right to the house by my wife's did not so do get good directions. Highly recommend this cute vacation home.
