About Ron Henderson or Sherry Henderson

We moved here from Montana in 1967. We ran a food brokerage business for

37 years. We sold the business and built a log house and 2 cabins on the Kenai

River. We started the house in 2002, completed in 2006. We built the cabins

in 2007. We live here year around and enjoy all of the season changes.

Ron Henderson or Sherry Henderson purchased this cabin in 1989

Why Ron Henderson or Sherry Henderson chose Soldotna

Our property is very beautiful. We spent many years living in Anchorage and camping in this area on the weekends. It took years for us to find this land. We are situated on the bank of the Kenai River, which is known world wide for its 5 species of salmon and in particular the trophy sized King salmon. There are many species of birds and in particular the Bald Eagle. There are also moose and caribou that wander through. In the winter the river freezes over, the snow is deep and everything gets very quiet. Great hiking summer with trails that vary in difficulty and distance.

What makes this cabin unique

Our cabins are approximately 200 yards from the river. We have a huge covered fire pit area for all of our guests to enjoy. It's open on 2 sides and we always have a fire going plus a puzzle to put together. This is where all of the fishing stories are told and people get to know one another over adult beverages, music and much laughter. We also have a fish cleaning table on the river bank. We do not offer fishing from our property but there is a great sockeye hole within quick walking distance.

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

The owners, Sherry and Ron are fantastic and could not be nicer people. Their home is lovely and the gardening is beautiful. They provide everything needed for a great trip, soft towels, plenty of pillows, and amazingly comfortable beds. The cabins are in a great location, private but close enough to grocery store and any conveniences. Exactly like the pictures, very clean and comfortable. There is a fish camp next door, Rod n Reel, that provides wonderful charter fishing morning and afternoon. Easy walk across the parking lot. There is access to a private covered area close to the river, perfect location for a morning cup of coffee, reading the Alaska paper and a Bonfire. Ron and Sherry were happy to recommend local restaurants and shopping. Louie's in Kenai was wonderful and The Flats provided good food and a view for miles. There is a local laundromat, 10 minutes away. Orca movie theatre is close by for an evening out. We are already thinking of coming back next year.....
