High Peaks Basecamp Lodging: 3 Houses with mountain views each sleeping 10-12
We are experts in helping people enjoy Lake Placid and all it has to offer as well as getting people outdoors in the Adirondacks! We have a great location—right in the heart of downtown in walking distance of Lake Placid Main Street shops and restaurants, the Olympic skating oval, and Mirror Lake. It is the perfect place for families, groups, and teams; book now for fun, events, exercise, adventure or training and feel like a local.
At High Peaks we have three houses total—the Basecamp Lodge, High Peaks Lodge, and Guide Lodge.
NOTE TO BIG GROUPS: We are able to house up to 34 people total between all three houses (with 10 bedrooms and 5 baths total)—great for larger groups and teams!
Our Guide House is a single story rental located on the second floor upstairs from our Guide Service with three bedrooms sleeping up to ten people. Each bedroom has two comfy bunk beds with double futons as the bottom bunks. The Guide House hosts a full kitchen, dinette, a large bathroom, and living room, all newly renovated with nice leather and wood furniture. Next door above our shop there is a large fitness and yoga studio with an additional full bathroom if needed for larger groups. The house also shares a large deck and BBQ grill with the High Peaks House next door with great views of the High Peaks mountains! Amenities include free Wifi, cable TV and DVD player, as well as a microwave.
Our High Peaks House is the largest of our three houses; with two stories, four bedrooms, and six bunk beds the High Peaks house sleeps up to twelve. Two of the bedrooms host one bunk bed with a full bottom bunk, while the third bedroom serves as the larger 'bunk room' with three bunk beds. The house has 1.5 baths, a large gear room, laundry facilities, and a large, comfortable kitchen, bar and living area. Outside the High Peaks House shares a large porch area and BBQ grill with our Guide House, with great views of the High Peaks mountains! Amenities include free Wifi, cable TV and DVD player, as well as a microwave.
Our Basecamp Lodge is our newest house, one story with three large bedrooms sleeping up to 12 people with three bunks in one room, two bunks in the second room and one bunk in the third bedroom. All three bedrooms are located off of the large living room and kitchen area hosting beautiful wood and leather furniture. The house has two full baths, a laundry room, large private deck with a BBQ grill, and great views of the High Peaks mountains! Amenities include free Wifi, cable TV and DVD player, as well as a microwave.
We also offer our wax room and bike storage for skiers and bikers, as well as free access to our fitness/yoga studio and rock climbing gym to our guests. Our outdoor retail store, High Peaks Cyclery, and guide service are located right on the property, with opportunities to rent gear (bikes, canoes and kayaks, skis and snowshoes), go on one of our guided trips, or find Adirondack travel information.

About the Owner
We fell in love with Lake Placid, the Olympics, ADK outdoors, and each other in 1980 and started our outdoor sport store, High Peaks Cyclery in 1982. Brian and Karen Delaney have been in the business of helping others enjoy the outdoors in the Adirondacks for over thirty years. They own and operate High Peaks Cyclery, a local bike, ski, and gear shop right in downtown Lake Placid. Karen and Brian also started High Peaks Mountain Guides, a fully licensed guide service taking clients on customized trips based on their outdoor pursuits and interests, from canoeing and hiking to rock and ice climbing, ski touring, and backcountry skiing. In 2010, Brian and Karen purchased and renovated three buildings surrounding their shop, High Peaks Cyclery, and started High Peaks Basecamp Lodging, where families, groups, and outdoorsmen and women come stay and play!
Guestbook comments from the manager
We so enjoyed the convenience and comfort of the High Peaks Cyclery guide house rental this spring. the owners were + and knowledgeable to tell us what to do and where to go. We even took a guided trip with them to sharpen our skills.
We love outdoor sports and it was inspiring here. Great house !
We had such a wonderful time at Basecamp we did not wanted to leave. The property was one of the most well kept properties we have stayed at and the location is superb and so are the owners.

Great Trip, great place to stay
We recently were in Lake Placid and stayed at Karen and Brian's High Peaks House. It was really great. We were very comfortable and loved being so close to the beach on Mirror Lake and town. The house was fully stocked. Karen and Brian were very pleasant and really great to work with. We definitely plan to stay again.
Great Ski/Adventure Lodging
We stayed at the basecamp for a weekend of skiing at Whiteface and Mt Van Hoevenburg. Everything was clean, warm, and very spacious. We had a group of 8 and we fit with plenty of room to spare for us and all of our gear. The bathrooms are new and clean with plenty of hot water. The kitchen is fully equipped. The style and feel of the basecamp is very comfortable and relaxed with a huge table and a couple of nice couches.
It is a great location right in Placid, easy driving distance to Whiteface, Mt. Van Ho, High Peaks, etc. Short walk to any number of great restaurants and diners.
Owners and staff at the High Peaks Cyclery are super friendly and helpful and can also equip you for any kind of adventure you are looking for!
High Peaks House/School Group
The High Peaks House accommodations were perfect for our school group. While our more experienced hikers camped in lean-tos, the High Peaks House was the perfect place to end a long day of hiking for the younger, less-experienced group. There were ten of us and the house provided plenty of room for people and gear and a very well-equipped kitchen. The personal touches, information and service offered by Karen and the others at High Peaks Cyclery was the icing on the ADK cake :)

Adirondack elegance in an affordable bunk house!
What a great find I came across while trying to lock down an affordable yet classy house in Lake Placid for our yearly couples Adirondacks retreat. The owners of this property are amazing, and personally welcomed us in to the 'bunk house'- I use the term loosely here because it easily could sleep about 10 people if you used all the bunks or if we wanted to bring the kids, but it was just me, my wife, and 2 of other couples. It worked out perfectly because each couple had their own sleeping quarters and the bottom beds fold out to a comfortable bed for two! The house was just renovated in the true Adirondack style with beautiful pine panels and flooring complete with similar furnishings and decorations - everything was clean and well kept and you can tell that the owners take great care in keeping it that way! One of the many bonuses to staying here is its proximity to town and all of the venues such as the Olympic arena, down town (it's right on Main Street - a little off the main hustle and bustle so it's not noisy, but with in a quarter mile to all of the cute shops and restaurants), Mirror Lake, Lake Placid, and a short drive, or bike if you want, to the mountains and trails. And one of the main selling points for me was that local pub is conveniently located just around the bend - offering one of the best micro brews I've ever had! The other great thing about staying here is that the owners are a wealth of information from where to go hike and bike, what to do on a rainy day, even where to eat...they own the gear and guide store next door, and can help you plan any adventure, and outfit you too! They took us rock climbing (a first for me - but tons of fun!) one day and paddling through some of the more remote lakes in the area another day - for a reasonable fee. We had a blast and can not wait to coma back - maybe in the winter this time!

At our Basecamp lodges you'll feel like a local and enjoy the convenience of having our guide service and gear shop right next door. Our staff is always excited to share hikes, backcountry ski spots, day trip and restaurant ideas with our guests.”
