3 Bedroom Cottage on Owasco Lake

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,000 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, 12 Sleeps

Welcome to our 3 Bedroom summer cottage on beautiful Owasco Lake with 85 ft of private lakefront. The 1000sqft cottage has an open floor plan. Sliding glass door leads out to a large two tiered deck complete with a hot tub overlooking Owasco Lake. The deck has a glass dining table that seats six on one side of the deck and a cushioned seating area for 4. A picnic table on the side of the house provides extra seating. The lower level of the deck has a stainless gas grill and two deck chairs on one side, with a gate on the other side to step directly into the hot tub. Stairs leading down to the waterfront bring you to a 15X50 deck at the waters edge that has lounge chairs, table, plenty of seating and a refrigerator. 50ft of dock extending out into the lake has plenty of room for your boat or jetski. Or rent a boat from the marina about 3 miles down the lake. Use our 2 Kayaks or the canoe to tour the still lake waters of the morning.

The cottage is located on the east side of Owasco lake for clean water and beautiful sunsets. The location is perfect and close to everything. 40 minutes from Syracuse, 7 minutes from the town of Moravia, 15 minutes from Auburn, 20 minutes from Skaneateles. You can tour the beautiful Finger Lake wineries, hike the trails and beautiful waterfalls of Filmore Glen park. Stroll the quaint shops and restaurants in the village of Skaneateles, or head to the top of the lake for a broadway style show at the Merry Go Round theater in Emerson Park. So much to do in the area in a short driving distance.

The cottage is set on a half acre lot, so it has a large backyard to play just about any game you would like. A fire pit sits about 30 ft from the house and is perfect for those cool nights or making s'mores.

The cottage is set up with beds for 12 people, but the house is very comfortable with 6 adults and 4-6 kids. One bedroom has a queen bed. The other two bedrooms have a bunk bed and a double bed in each. The living area has a pull out queen sofa. Each bedroom has a window air conditioner. The whole cottage is heated. The kitchen, dining room and living room are all one big room and great for entertaining.

Main room has a 32 LCD tv on a articulating arm so the 205+ channels of Direct TV, or the WII game console, (bring your WII games) can be viewed from anywhere, but can be stowed out of the way if you just want to enjoy the view or peace and quiet. 5 disc cd/dvd changer has full surround sound, or use the speaker selector to use the ceiling or outdoor speakers. Ipod hookup is available both in the house and at the waters edge.

Two large ceiling fans keep the room very comfortable. The kitchen is fully stocked with appliances, utensils, plates, etc.

Perfectly Quaint Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for 3 days after we got married as a sort of mini-honeymoon. The place was extremely easy to find and is located close enough to town that you can go there to pick up groceries / dinner / etc. The view from the property is amazing, as is the lakefront accessibility! We kayaked / canoed with ease every day. Our only "negative" for the property is that there isn't any wifi, and cell service (Verizon) is very spotty. It wasn't a big deal for us, but for others, this may be something to consider! Thanks for a great vacation spot to start to our marriage John!

A little slice of heaven on the lake with everything you need

  • 5 of 5

I cannot say enough about this home- but I will try! We recently stayed for 4 nights and wished we could have stayed longer as this was one of the most relaxing trips we have taken. It is located on a quiet, peaceful road and set up from the lake so the views from the living room, deck, and hot tub are wonderful. The hot tub was clean and easy to open/close and we took advantage of it to enjoy the views even during the chilly evenings and mornings. The kitchen has every pot, pan, tool, or utensil you could hope for along with a dishwasher and water dispenser. We were able to cook all of our meals at the house, and enjoyed the use of the outdoor grill as well. There is also a washer/dryer in the bathroom which came in handy. Although we were only two people, the house can sleep 12, seat 12 both inside and outside on the deck- and it is definitely dog friendly!

There is a large, well-maintained dock with a table, chairs, and lounge chairs to enjoy the sun. To get down to the dock you have to go down a set of steep stairs, which for a young, healthy couple was not a problem but I would keep in mind if traveling with older adults. In total, there are around 65 stairs from the dock to the house. Down on the dock, there is a small boat house with 2 kayaks and a canoe for guest use. We had a fun time using the kayaks to explore the lake prior to renting a boat from the Owasco marina (on the north end of the lake). There is also another marina closer by on the south end of the lake with limited off season hours. It was easy to dock the boat at the house for 2 days. We successfully fished both off the dock and on the rental boat and caught perch and bass.

Of note, there are 2 towns within driving distance of the house. The closest is the town of Moravia, to the south, with a small supermarket and Filmore Glen State Park. There are several trails, ranging from 1.5-2 miles, that wind you through several beautiful waterfalls. To the north of the lake is the town of Auburn where we picked up fishing licenses at Walmart and groceries at Wegmans!

Our only complaint is that we could not stay longer! There was nothing better than eating lunch on the deck while enjoying the lake views or having a soak in the hot tub under the stars while listening to the water lapping down below- this place was idyllic. We loved this home and hope we are lucky enough to return in the future.

Beautiful Lake House

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent a perfect week in August at this Lake House. We're only about an hour away from the house, so close family and friends were able to visit us, and a few stayed for a night or two. Everyone that visited us loved it as much as we did. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 of which have bunk beds and a double bed. That gave us enough beds for our children and guests. The dining table seats 6, but we added camp chairs for extra seating and could have 10 people without being crowded. The table was great to eat at and to play games at. The open design of the kitchen, dining and living area allowed for everyone to be together regardless of which of the 3 areas they were in. The space also allowed for our older kids to play games like twister, while our youngest played with toys.

Outside there is a beautiful view of the lake from the deck, with a grill and plenty of seating. It's a perfect place to enjoy a quiet cup of coffee in the morning, to read a book, or visit with family and friends. We spent most of our week on the dock. There was swimming, playing with water toys, trips with the canoe and kayaks, and just enjoying the lake from the dock. Two of the neighbor dogs visited, with our consent, and our family and friends loved them. Maddie dives into the lake for rocks and brought them to our 3 year old so that she would throw them back into the water. It was very sweet.

There is a hot tub on one of the decks which was also a great feature. At night there are color changing lights in it, which were cool to watch while sitting in it.

The decor inside and out is beautiful. We really liked the topographic maps of the Finger Lakes, and other lake themed decor. The actual pictures contribute to the place having a good home away from home feel.

The house has a a small washer and dryer in the bathroom which was a huge convenience. Having a vacuum on hand was another nice feature.

My family, close friends and I had a perfect week in August at this Lake House. Thank you John for allowing us the opportunity. It was amazing and we hope to visit again.

Very pleased with the property!

  • 4 of 5

We loved that the property was pet friendly! Great dock area with chairs and a table. Loved the stairs into the water which made it easy to get in and out of the water for the dogs and ourselves. Easy access to get in and out of kayaks. Boat rental at the South Shore Marina was easy and only about a 10 minute boat ride to the house. Very friendly and easy to rent a pontoon boat. Easy to dock the boat at the house. Caught a lot of small pan fish right off the dock, and one 30" northern pike. Deck had a nice table area to eat out and comfortable chairs to relax in on the deck. Kitchen spacious and had the necessary items needed. Cooked on the grill a bunch. Loved the hot tub. Auburn not far away for groceries. At the Glenside Diner we enjoyed a great breakfast. Fillmore State Park nice hiking area and dogs are allowed. Owner easy to work with and quick to respond.

Great relaxing spot on the lake!

  • 5 of 5

One of the best I've ever rented on this site. The cottage is clean and comfortable. Everything you need is there. There was a spot on the dock to park our boat. We loved the Jacuzzi overlooking the water. The view from the Jacuzzi and the deck on the house is fantastic. Owasco lake was nice and quiet most of the week we were there. Very little boat traffic which kept the lake very calm most of the time. The owner was very nice and answered all our questions. We will definitely be back!
