Guestbook comments from the owner

We just got back from a great week at the Atlantic Ocean of the midwest, Lake Michigan. It is a jewel of "flyover" country. With temperate summer waters, white sandy beaches and water as far as the eye can see, it is every bit as good as the ocean. The cottage we stayed in was terrific, here is a short review:

The very short review is that everything about the cottage exceeded expectations. It is newly and delightfully decorated. The proximity is superb--less than 10 minutes for a very pleasant walk to an un-crowded, private beach. The physical location is great, too--in a cute little neighborhood, just north of Lake Macatawa and east of Lake Michigan. The yard is spacious, and there is good privacy on the lovely patio. The cottage is really a recently re-modeled, very-well-kept and well-decorated house. It has everything you would want, including extended cable, wi-fi, laundry, air-conditioning, a gas grill, and a handy outdoor shower for rinsing off the sand. Everything, without exception, was in excellent working order.

The cottage is advertised as sleeping 8, but we asked the owner, Mike, if two families totaling 9 persons would be okay. He candidly replied that the sleeping arrangements would work fine, but we should be aware that there is only one bathroom. We said we could make that work, and it was not a problem at all. As to sleeping, there are 3 spacious bedrooms. Two equipped with double beds, and one with 2 pairs of bunks. So if you, like us, are vacationing with another family, you can turn a good deal into a great deal, by splitting the cost, very easily and very comfortably.. The rooms of the cottage are also very large, so there is plenty of room for 8-9 people, even on an unlucky rainy day.

The greater Holland location was also very good. There are all kinds of stores and restaurants within an easy 10 minutes' drive, if you want them. As for us, we hardly go in the car at all. Kayak rental is a 3-minute walk. Boat rentals on Lake Macatawah are just 1 mile down the road. There was just hardly any reason at all to leave the immediate vicinity. Bottom line--this is a great cottage rental, and at unbeatable price.

Beautiful home in a wonderful location

  • 5 of 5

I had a great stay at this cottage. When I go on vacation I like to find a peaceful place that gives me the space to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. This property was perfect. I enjoyed the full kitchen for preparing meals and the many places, inside and out, to sit and catch up on my reading. The location next to Holland State Park was very nice. The beach is only a short walk away and the views made for perfect walks each day. I highly recommend this cottage.

Even with very short notice on occupancy, Owners made stay easy by sending message before. Very well organized with nice details there (several commonly used spices;plenty of towels; plenty of pillows; nice amount of storage if you wanted to unload luggage). Very clean. Short walk to great beach(playground there) and inlet to watch boats come through. About 10 minute drive to downtown historic area was great

Very comfortable, great area

  • 5 of 5

When my wife and I first walked into the cottage we loved it. From the 70's retro look to the open floor plan we knew this was going to make for a great week. Within walking distance of a great beach.

I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a great place to unite with family and enjoy piece and quite..

Great place to relax and have fun

  • 5 of 5

Having two younger kids (2 and 3) the location of the house was perfect. 10 min walk to the beach which we did every day and short walk for ice cream at two locations which we did every day. The house was great, clean and had everything we need and more. We loved how close hiking trails were to trail run and take morning hikes we the family. Thanks for the great week and plan on coming back next year!

Wonderful cottage with every amenity. Loved the outdoor seating area and short walk to beach

  • 5 of 5

Mike made the process very easy and was readily available for any questions. We enjoyed the wonderful decor and really comfortable accommodations. Grilled and ate dinner outside. Walked through historic cottages daily to the beach in 10 minutes. Enjoyed the ice cream at the general store a block away and easy access to downtown Holland. The neighbors were very nice and friendly. We will definitely be returning next year. Highly recommended!

So clean and had everything we needed! Loved that it was so close to a private beach.

  • 5 of 5

What a great cottage. My husband and I stayed there with our four and two year old and we all loved it. The beach was a quick walk (or would be for normal people...I dragged a bit going uphill due to being pregnant) away and we used the red wagon at the house to pull along our towels, beach chairs and toys. It was nice having the general store so close. We quickly ran out of paper towel and toilet paper though, so just a heads up to possibly bring back up of that along or be prepared to buy it at the general store. We would highly recommend to anyone thinking of staying in Holland, MI.
