Perfect cottage getaway
Beautiful views of the ocean and walking distance to the beach. Close to several other areas of interest. The cottage was clean and had everything you need. The owner was very attentive and quick to respond. Would go back!
Great relaxing weekend away!
We had an absolute amazing weekend at the cottage. The private beach was beautiful and the local visitors/residents friendly and helpful. There was plenty to do and see and the surrounding restaurants were excellent. We will definitely return again soon!
Great spot right on the water
This small one bedroom cottage separated from the water by a narrow road has amazing views! We didn't use the pull-out bed, but it looked pretty nice (it's one of those Ikea sectionals that turns into a bed, not the traditional sofa-bed with the giant bar in the middle). The host was very nice, helped us through some issues with the water. The house is steps away from the private beach for the neighborhood. The house was well-outfitted: kitchen had plenty of plates, utensils, pans and pots (including a big lobster pot). Not much in the way of condiments, spices, or cooking basics (it did have salt, pepper, oil, coffee filters), but the Stop & Shop is just a few minutes up the road.
A wonderful time in a even more wonderful location
My wife and I found Cara's cottage after having to cancel our original vacation plans at another RI location. We literally searched from Georgia to Maine and choose this and we are so glad we did! Point Judith and Breakwater Village are perfect for beach time, site sightseeing and eating out. The cottage is cozy, clean and convienet to restaurants, the Block Island ferry and many other state beaches. The private beach is kept very clean and is steps away. And free of charge every night are gorgeous sunsets. We would definitely return!
Loved the Cottage!
This was our 3rd stay at Cara’s cottage and we have plans to go again next year. What can I say, we LOVE it. Really appreciated the new grill, umbrella and chairs. Counting the days until we come back. Thanks Cara ❤️
Perfect spot for a restful getaway
I was looking for a quiet beach cottage for a solo vacation and this property fit the bill perfectly. I have previously stayed in this neighborhood a couple times for group vacations with friends, so I already knew I loved the area and the private beach, and this little spot was yet another Point Judith hidden gem. Since it was just me, the small cottage was a perfect size (though it might become a tight squeeze if you have more than 2 adults who plan to spend most of their time indoors). The living room offered unmatched ocean views and breezes with walls of windows on 3 sides, the kitchen was stocked with everything but food, the bedroom boasted loads of storage space, and the bathroom was clean and quite sizable. Generally, everything I could possibly need was provided in pristine condition. And because everything was set up and ready to go, I was able to come and go with very little contact or intervention from the property owner, which I view as a huge plus - I wanted a getaway where I could turn my brain off and just relax, and the owner being so organized and prepared made that possible. That's not to say the owner wasn't there when I needed, either: I accidentally left behind an article of clothing and only realized hours after I had returned home, but the owner ensured the item was shipped back to me. In short, lovely neighborhood, lovely scenery, lovely property, lovely owner, and I would not hesitate to book again.
The Block Island Ferry is only 2 miles from house and located in the Quaint Fishing Village of Galilee, where you can buy fresh lobsters on the docks, take a whale watching or lighthouse tour as well as a Fishing Charter trip. Mystic Seaport Aquariam and Shopping Village, Foxwoods and Mohegan Casinos are all within one hour drive. The City of Newport, Villages of Historic Wickford and Jamestown are all only a short 35 minute drive. Or at only a 30 minute driving distance you can catch a High Speed Ferry to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket from Quonset Point. The property is also only a short 20 minute drive from the University of Rhode Island and ideal for Parents Weekends in the fall. A trip to Matunuck Oyster House is a must for local fresh seafood!
