The views from your back yard are incredible! This charming 4 season cottage is located on Alpine Lake , in the Northeast section of the Poconos. It's floor to ceiling windows through out the kitchen and living room are perfect for watching amazing sunrises over the lake. Enjoy crossing the lake with our kayak or canoe. Also, we have a beautiful board walk from the upper deck to the dock from which to fish or just relax. The country is serenely beautiful in the fall with all the leaves changing colors, farm stands to visit and there is a candle factory just up the road. Also, a golf course, horseback riding and the animal park zoo, just a short ride away. In the winter you are only 7 miles from Camleback Mountain skiing, snow boarding and tubing. Guestbook comments from the owner

Our family of 4 has visited this lake house many times enjoying every season of the year there. We love to fish and go boating on this very quiet lake catching everything from sunnies to bass fish. The view is amazing from the deck and full wall window in the living area. Everyday there we encounter all kinds of wild life which is so exciting to our 13 yr old and 9 yr old alike. We have seen everything from wild turkey to deer right in the yard! At night, we loved the chance to sit by the fire pit and gaze at the beautiful clear mountain sky over the lake and smell the fresh air. Our favorite times of year are early summer and fall when everything is in full bloom and color. What a sight right in your own backyard. This quaint house is cozy and warm with everything you need for a simple quiet getaway. We would recommend this spot to anyone who just wants to decompress from everyday life and relax, enjoying what nature has to offer. And if you still want to ski, shop and eat out, the town right at the bottom of your little mountain offers everything you may need. I hope many people enjoy this location as much as our family has. We plan to visit again and again. Thanks for sharing your beautiful lake house!!

The lake in your back yard! It doesn't get any better than that. Use of canoe, kayack, flat bottom boat and fishing poles during your stay. Make your self at home with a full kichen. The fireplace is a great back drop even in the summer. It just feels inviting. golf courses, driving ranges, horse back riding, animal park, zoo, paintball and hiking on state land - all just minutes away. Ten minutes to CamelBack Waterpark/ski resort. Rental includes a canoe, kayak and fishing poles. Light a fire in the outdoor fire pit at night and gaze at the evening stars. All the big mall stores and restaurants, including Olive Garden, Ruby Tuesday's, Texas Steak house, Red Lobster and Starbuck's are all there. Or just stay in for a quiet night in front of the fire. Perfect for a romantic weekend get away or for some affordable family time getting back to nature. Eigther way, everyone is sure to have a great time.

Quiet getaway

  • 4 of 5

We stayed close to the end of October 2015 and it was a great little bare bones cabin with the necessities needed for a little mountain getaway. The kayaks included were great for a little paddle on the small lake. The fire pit was great. A few lights didn't work or were out in the cabin but we didn't mind. Also it's a little outdated so if you are not looking for the basics then this isn't the place for you. The fireplace in the cabin was nice but at times got smokey. It's pet friendly so that's a plus. You feel like you are far from everything but in reality you are super close! We would definitely come again.

My family had an amazing week vacation at this lake house. It has everything you could want: a beautiful serene setting on the lake, a great porch off the back and a grill, and a fire pit. It's right near everything you might want to do in the Poconos.

Lake House Canoe & Kayak included - Rental 7071229

  • 1 of 5

Listing was NOT accurately descriptive. Lighting insufficient - 6 lights did not work; some were missing bulbs. others just not working. AC was not sufficient; two room air conditioners one in kitchen and one in bedroom; one very old and rusty. Advertised queen size bed was really two army cots pushed together. Mattresses were cot mattresses; very uncomfortable. Owner said we could move mattresses around ourselves if we wanted. Coffee maker filthy and terribly stained; coffee not washed after use before our arrival. Ants in the bathtub and gnats in bathroom sink. Owner not very responsive to our needs; for lighting she blamed power company. We stayed less than 24 hours. Would not recommend.

Owner's Response: Liz, The pictures do not lie: the house is exactly as described and depicted. The queen bed is a queen bed. The property manager arrived within hours of your request specifically to change a light bulb that you wanted replaced right away. Upon her arrival, you complained the heat was too much at your age and the bed was too soft . You were then offered the other mattresses. Your husband told her it wasn’t necessary for her to change the mattress and insisted on doing it himself. I am so sorry you picked the record high day for the year (with a 98 degree temperature and 80% humidity) for your check in day. Please look at all the other positive reviews. Everyone commented on how clean the house was. Please consider coming back in the future when the weather is cooler.

Peaceful Weekend Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Upon arrival our kids and dogs were super excited to go down and check out the lake! They kids also loved the room they got to share. We kayaked right away and fished each morning. Exploring local shops and eateries was also a lot of fun. Taking coffee down to the lake and watching a lightning storm through the big picture windows were highlights. There were books for the kids and a large deck to sit out on and enjoy the view. The master bed was a little squeaky but we managed. The rustic fire pit was a perfect place to make smores and watching dragonflies and frogs by the water's edge was mesmerizing.

This little quaint cabin was so close to home, the drive felt like a dream! Easy and good for our family, we had a great couple of nights here.

Peaceful and quiet

  • 5 of 5

The description of the house and grounds were very accurate. The rustic decor and furniture gave the house its unique charm. The lake view is quite beautiful at dawn and dusk! My husband and I were look for a weekend getaway with our three month old and this house was perfect. The wooden pathway made it convenience and easy to walk to the lake with a baby. Monica was extremely helpful and so friendly before and during our stay. I did take Monica's advice and had my coffee by the lake. It is a place to disconnect and reconnect with nature.

Monica's lake house

  • 2 of 5

The house is pretty and comfortable. The cottage is on a small lake - really a large pond. There is a lovely big deck at the back of the house and a wooden path/stairs that leads down to the lake. The back yard area between the house and the lake is forested and shady. There is a canoe you can use. The lake is peaceful - we didn't see any power boats or jet skis. There is a firing range in the area, and on the Saturday that we were there, between 10 am and 4 pm, there was a pretty much constant background noise of gun fire from the range. If you are playing music and making noise it won't bother you, but if you crave peace and quiet it would.

For those planning a weekend stay, I would advise you to confirm, prior to finalizing your arrangements, your check out time on Sunday. We rented for the weekend, assuming we'd be able to enjoy the cottage on Sunday, and were told upon check in that we would need to leave the premises at 12 on Sunday. Also, get as much of the details arranged as possible in advance as Monica does not always answer texts during the weekend.

I would suggest that the owner get some extra lounging chairs for the back deck - there is only a small table and four chairs, and it would be a lovely place for hanging out and reading, or visiting with guests if there was a little more furniture.

Owner's Response: I am so glad you enjoyed the house so much that wanted to stay past your reservation time. It is a great place! The check out time is on the web site and I did confirm it with you over the phone a couple days prior to your stay. Again, I can understand why you wanted to stay later. I returned your texts and calls promptly but when you kept requesting later check out time after you were given an answer, I didn't see the need to keep answering the same question over and over. None the less, I'm glad you had a great time and enjoyed the house.
