Cozy and calm creekside retreat
We loved staying at Creek View Cabin for a few days in early fall. The deck, screened porch, creekside hammock and firepit area all mean you can enjoy the outdoors without leaving the property, but you can enjoy the sounds of the creek from inside the cozy cabin as well. We met Bill, who was an attentive and friendly host. Would definitely recommend and wish we could have stayed longer!
Amazing little place by the creek, great view!
The cabin is nestled on top of a small hill, which looks down onto a creek that you can easily access. There is a cute peach tree in front of the property and those lucky enough to book in season might get to enjoy them. There is also a great, great mountain view. Overall, it was an excellent place and Bill was very attentive and had everything perfectly ready by the time we arrived. It's close to the town of Hot Spring (15 minutes), and a few other places that you can access for things such as, clay shooting. Asheville is about 30-40 minutes away too, so you can visit whenever you want.
Thank you very much Bill for the great place.
Quiet Peaceful Get-Away
This is a very nice cabin, next to a stream, great screened-in porch for shade, and open porch on the other side. Camp chairs & hammock down by the stream. Also, a nice fire pit. Good location for visiting Max Patch, mountain hikes & hiking some of the Appalachian Trail. The owners, Bill & Liz, have compiled a great book on hiking trails & other visitor information, better than the Visitor Center. Due to its remote location, this is a good option for a quiet get away. So, be prepared to grille at the cabin because there is not a variety of restaurants close by. We did not find any fish in the stream even tho we brought our fishing poles. Also, loved floating down the French Broad River in the Funyacks. Thanks Bill & Liz!
Thanks Liz and Bill for a Great Retreat!
I stayed here from July 6-10, 2016 while attending the Wild Goose Festival in Hot Springs. The cabin was EXACTLY as advertised - clean, roomy, peaceful, quiet, in a beautiful setting. I was traveling solo, and I was more than 500 miles from home. So, it was great knowing that Bill and Liz were right up the lane. Bill welcomed me soon after my arrival and was immediately available to take care of a small issue that arose with the water pump. Best of all for me - all of the staples in the kitchen that saved me from having to buy every little thing while there. I brought my own meal food, but things like olive oil and dish detergent were all on hand. Thanks for a great retreat! (Oh, and one of the hiking guides on the bookshelf was a life saver when I got a little off track during my hike of the Max Patch Loop - I was sooo glad it was there I took it with me!).
A beautiful, restful country home that's close to the Ap Trail and French Broad river activities
We arrived at the height of summer's beauty and were all delighted with this cabin. The very well-kept grounds have mossy boulders to sit on, trees to climb, a great firepit, a babbling creek, plenty of soft clovergrass in both shade and sun, berry bushes to pick, both a sunny deck and a shady screened porch, wildflowers all around, picturesque old buildings for photos, a pasture across the road, a shady clearing next to the creek with chairs and a hammock, and birdsong fills the air. Woodland creatures roam nearby if you're watchful for them. As darkness falls, hundreds of fireflies rise up and put on a show that doesn't stop, along with the stars. We happened to see the solstice full moon rise up over the mountains, it lit up the fields while the fireflies twinkled everywhere. Magical! - Within 10 or 20 minutes drive of this cabin are several access points to the Appalachian Trail itself or access to local trails that adjoin the AT. Our cabin owners provide a notebook filled with info on all these. One of our favorite visits of ANY vacation was our drive to Max Patch Bald, accessed by a few local roads and a gravel drive. This tree-less mountaintop, the “bald,” gives stunning views of the mountains of Tennessee to the west, the Smokies to the southwest, the North Carolina mountains to the east and north, and the forests of Pisgah and Cherokee all around. 15 minutes from the cabin is the town of Hot Springs, where we took a wonderful day trip with the Hot Springs Rafting Co., enjoyed delicious ice cream at Artisun, and dined well at the Smoky Mountain Diner. 30 minutes away we visited French Broad Rafting & Ziplines for a day of great fun. We made smores every night at our firepit, which was well-stocked with firewood. We do allow that the small AC unit was not up to my husband's standards - he likes icy temps - so that accounts for the 4 stars instead of five. The afternoon heat was strong, but there were fans in every room. The furniture & beds were comfy, there was plenty of storage room for luggage and clothes, and the kitchen, bathrooms & laundry had all we needed. The owner was friendly & attentive to our needs at all times, and made sure we had what we needed. I would go back tomorrow if I could. Our summer visit was great, & we discussed coming in the autumn sometime to see the area's fall color - it must be magnificent!!!
My husband and I stayed for a weekend and had a wonderful time. It was the perfect place for the quiet and relaxing weekend we needed. We enjoyed listening to the creek and having a fire in the fire pit. The cabin was cozy and Bill gave us a warm welcome when we arrived. We look forward to coming back again. I have already recommended this cabin to some friends of ours.
