Fabulous Place, Awesome Owners - Great Environment

  • 5 of 5

The owners of Rail Oaks Ranch are most hospitable, going out of their way to accommodate guests. I attended an extended seminar in Sierra Vista and the ranch was my home for just over 30 days. It was magnificent. Such a welcome change in pace and weather from the East Coast. I stayed in the studio, which I learned was Donna's former artist studio. Don't let the name studio fool you, it was quite a large place and VERY comfortable, well decorated, and had everything I needed. My only regret was I did not take advantage of the outdoor fireplace. I would absolutely stay here again. Thank you very much for a wonderful stay.

Magical place for birding and relaxation

  • 5 of 5

Donna welcomed us with a basket of goodies - banana walnut bread with a cream cheese frosting (my favorite), a chocolate brownie that satisfied my chocoholic husband's cravings and oranges, grapefruit, apples, bananas, sugar cookies and lots of other goodies. Plus we had a yummy egg, broccoli and onion casserole and sausages, and the necessary milk and coffee. That allowed us to wake up our first morning, make coffee and warm up breakfast and then explore the grounds to identify all the birds that woke up with us. Plus we saw the deer and the javelinas as well.

It was so lovely to have a leisurely breakfast every morning at the house - load up the car with water and snacks and then tour all around Sierra Vista, Kitt's Peak Observatory, Tombstone, all the various canyons, and the San Pedro Riparian Area and then head back home to make a quick dinner and relax.

The little house is comfortable and kept cool even with unseasonable hot weather. It has big windows for viewing wildlife with a cup of coffee and binoculars in hand. The kitchen is well equipped - the king-sized bed is very comfortable and Donna is a wonderful host. I loved the she provided us condiments, salad dressing, jam and butter so all we had to do was purchase our major meals - but didn't need to buy things like olive oil or salt and pepper. It made it so easy to make our meals.

Again I can't say enough nice things about Donna an the property! I hope you enjoy it as well.
