Thanks for the wonderful week at your mountain home. We made a lot of family& friend memories to cherish forever, late night lounging on the deck and in the hot tub. The kids enjoyed the game room, everything was perfect. Thank you for one of our best relaxing...we loved it.

Awesome Property

  • 5 of 5

We traveled to Ruidoso with friends for the week. This house has all the amenities you could ask for. The kids loved the game room, the hummingbirds and the daily visit from the deer both morning and evening. The location is great. We got to enjoy the horse races, shopping, Ski Apache Zip Line, White Sands and the Inn of the Mountain Gods. The owners are very gracious and are vested in their guests having a good time. Thank you Jim. We hope to visit again. P.S. Sorry we weren't able to bring some of the cool weather back to the Metroplex with us.

Summer time 2016

  • 4 of 5

The house was perfect for all of us that came together to spend the week. This was our Christmas present to our adult children and grandkids which we do each year and this year we ventured out of Oklahoma. The area, different venues ruidoso offers and overall ambiance was more than we anticipated. The deer were the highlight for ALL AGES morning and night. 7 deer came to say good bye this am. Last night we were blessed with a purple sunset sky. Beautiful-wonderful vacation.

Owner's Response: Our Ruidoso vacation home is a magical place for our extended family as well. Our grandchildren love the coolness of the mountains, the deer, the birds and a pesky raccoon that loves to raid our birdfeeders some nights. We're glad your stay went well and happy memories were made here. Jim & Dinah

Great home for families!

  • 5 of 5

We used this home as a sleeping home for our family reunion in Alto....turned out to be great for 12 people with kids. Loved the pool table and hot tub on the deck. Only negative is the windy iron circular stairway - but easy to go from up to down on the large deck. Also, just a bit too much furniture in the downstairs area.....but ALL HAD A FABULOUS time!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your feedback. When we purchased our mountain home six years ago we too were not happy with the steep circular interior stairway. The home was originally built in the 1970's and remodeled several times. The downstairs area was expanded from a utility room into the gameroom and bedroom in 2006 when the circular stair was added by the previous owners. We've tried to think of creative ways to reconfigure the layout to gain a more traditional stairway but it would be a structural nightmare. We did add the iron gate at the top landing in 2010, and try to stress in our home description the importance for safety and adult attention to families with young children, but for now we're stuck with this layout. As you mentioned there are two exterior stairs to the lower level, and we take this route sometimes ourselves. We hope you found many other positive attributes of our mountain getaway to make up for this stair. Thanks, the Gaspard's

Spacious beautiful scenery! Linda L.

Our family enjoyed our stay at Casa Buena Vista. The three decks were great for enjoying the buetiful views. The game room was fun for the teens, parents and grandparents, where we had fun playing games and pool daily. Everyone enjoyed the constant supply of hot water on all three floors. Casa Buena Vista was convenient to an evening at the Flying J Ranch, the beautiful Inn of the Mountain Gods Golf Course and the Apache Windrider Zip Line at Ski Apache. We would really recommend enjoying the steaks at The Texas Club for a special evening out which is very convenient to this home away. Thank you Jim and Dinah for sharing your home with our family.

The home is so beautiful and peaceful!!

  • 5 of 5

My family had an amazing week in Alto. We had lots of room and space. Shopping and restaurants were close by. Just sitting on the decks and watching the birds and deer was so relaxing. The owners were very good and checked on us throughout our stay. Will hopefully stay again!!

Owner's Response: Thanks. This has been a spectacular Spring in the Sacramento mountains, lots of moisture, cool breezes and all the flora in full bloom. Thanks for staying with us, feeding the deer and watering our new flower beds. Come again soon. Jim & Dinah

Comfortable and fun!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at Casa Buena Vista in March of 2016 and would love to go back. Unlike other properties where we have stayed, this one had enough for the kids to do that we didn't feel like we had to "entertain" them every second. Between the pool table, foosball, hot tub, movies, and the lovely outdoors we wouldn't even have to leave the property much if we didn't want to.

Some highlights and tips:

*plenty of wood to build fires in the fireplace (so so relaxing and peaceful!)

*little touches around the house that showed care and made things easy to use. Lots of instructions and labels. (Labels on light switches are REALLY helpful.)

*drinking morning coffee wrapped in a blanket on the porch enjoying the mountain view

*bird feeders full when we arrived & deer food w/ instructions for the herd of deer which fed next to the porch

*lots of game playing as a family at the dining table or downstairs at the game table

*plenty of room for our family to spread out (or to bring friends in the future)

*eating breakfast/brunch at Cornerstone Bakery - highly recommend eating there early in your stay because you will want to go back

*very much appreciated the owners tips and recommendations for this restaurant and many other things

*avoid the Pizza Hut, frozen pizza tastes better, had broken ovens, and overall was more than a little scary

*Pillow's Funtrackers was SUPER fun for our kids 7 to 13. Buy the $100 ticket deal and let them have at it.

*Call about tubing. (Across the highway from this property) We were glad we did because then we were prepared that they were closed even when they said they would be open. :-(

*if it's important to you, the TVs are large in the living room and den

*the owner was communicative and replied quickly

*The kitchen is not big, but unless you intend to slave away in the kitchen (I would hope not), it really doesn't matter. We made a lot of meals and it was fine. Recommend bringing a sharp knife or two.

This property is homey and comfortable, close to tubing and the Ski Apache road, has plenty to do if it isn't snowy weather, and space to spread out on the different floors. We would recommend this property to others, and in fact already have.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your comments & that your family enjoyed our mountain hideaway. Sounds like the deck grill had some action and we need to bring the sharpener for our cutlery. We're heading to Ruidoso next week for some R&R of our own and will have these items addressed. Please come back soon. Jim & Dinah
