Cozy Cabin Overlooking Beautiful Lake Cuyamaca

Come enjoy some of San Diego's forgotten beauty in this gorgeous, secluded Piute Trail mountain cabin overlooking Lake Cuyamaca and just minutes from the quaint little town of Julian. During your stay, you'll have a chance to see wild deer grazing in the nearby pastures below, wild turkey foraging up and down the hillside (sometimes they even visit the deck!), raccoon's getting into their usual mischief, bald eagles soaring above or swooping in for a quick meal, owls, orioles, blue-jays, migratory ducks & geese, woodpeckers... and the list goes on! If you're into bird watching and/or photography, this is a great place for both! Using the cabin as a base camp, you'll be able to explore Cuyamaca Rancho State Park and Cleveland National Forest ,Anza-Borrego State Park with their many trails and viewpoints; fish for Florida bass, smallmouth bass, trout, crappie, bluegill, channel catfish, and even white sturgeon (Yes, our lake has sturgeon!); picnic on Fletcher Island; go boating; or just take in the peaceful surroundings and vast views from the comfort of the cozy cabin! Open year-round, including the snowy winter months when you can take advantage of the local sledding and snowboarding terrain. Available by reservation only, so plan early! Guestbook comments from the owner

John,

Just wanted to say thanks for our time at the cabin. It was a great experience! Definitely cool and quiet at night which was a welcome change. The kids enjoyed being able to see all of the stars from the deck. The grill worked quite well for hot dogs and corn on the cob. I appreciate your son coming by to make sure all was well. We were blessed in being able to stay there. All the best to you and your family! - Brian & Ericka

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is so awesome! We went to unplug and regroup before the start of the year. The cabin is nice and clean and basic. The couches are VERY comfy! You will spend most of your time sitting on the porch staring at the beautiful lake. Our dog is like our baby and we loved having him able to stay with us. We hiked to cuyamaca peak with our dog and hiked around the lake twice. We also took our dog out on a motor boat on the lake. We had deer right in front of the cabin one night. Very cool. We went to the lake restaurant one night for dinner. I am a vegetarian and they made me an awesome veggie taco plate. John was so nice and brought us plenty of firewood. The fireplace is awesome in this cabin. Would love the addition of a small coffee table in front of the couch by the fire. My husband and I wanted to play cards at night by the fire - when it got too cold outside. You can play at kitchen table, but we didn't want to move from in front of the fire. Everything you need is at this cabin and the owners are awesome! Perfect little get away from San Diego and can't wait to come back sometime! Thank you!

Best place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

Once again, had a great stay! The owners are fantastic and so nice! Had the pleasure of meeting both John and Marie this time. The cabin was amazing as usual. The weather was not too cooperative this time and John was available for anything we needed. Can't say enough good things about this little cabin at the lake. It has become a favorite vacation spot! I stayed at a cabin at Big Bear and it just didn't even compare to this little gem! Can't wait until next time!

Very comfy and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Home has everything you need. Sitting on the front porch and enjoying the view was great. We saw deer and turkeys and even a coyote! Only thing that could be better is the internet service. I had to get some work done and had problems sending emails. I️ recommend this place for a lake view getaway.
