Apartment, 1 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, 2 Sleeps
Sweet little ground floor NO-SMOKING studio for SINGLE or DOUBLE occupancy (double bed and foam floor mattress for small child, with prior agreement), on the beach with stunning view and private entrance. Bath and kitchen are decorated with talavera tile, and there’s a large closet (4’ by 6’) to stash your gear. This ample unit (bedroom measures 11’ by 14’) contains a double bed, is fully air-conditioned and well-insulated for comfort and quiet. The cafe table is ideal for writing in your journal over a second cup of coffee, or for that private dinner for two. Start your day over breakfast, outdoors on our covered veranda, with the scent of basil and a view of Pelican Island.
Thanks a lot!

Me and my gf Yuliya stayed here for 2 nights. The hosts was super friendly and helpful. Everything was organized so we knew where to go and what to do. The place is like an art gallery. It feels like you're staying in authentic and artistic local place. We will definitely come back.
Thanks a lot!
Loved the place! definitely we're coming back next year! Thank you Carolyn and Perry for this amazing experience.
Absolutely perfect!!!!...Carolyn sent me extremely easy directions to get there. We arrived a bit late and the caretakers were so nice and helpful when we got there. Walking into the amazing grounds of this little gem was breathtaking!!!! EVERY single detail was my idea of PERFECT. THANK YOU a million times for creating the perfect retreat in CASA TORTUGA and for allowing us to share your heaven for a weekend . So private so clean so comfy can't wait to return .
A Perfect Perch for a Kino Adventure!
Carolyn and Perry have created the perfect home away from home ! It is an ideal location to lounge on the beach, walk and explore New Kino, catch the bus or drive to Old Kino, and to rest up after a long day of adventures.
Our family appreciated our friendly hosts, the clean and beautiful room, and the privacy. Carolyn and Perry also offered valuable travel tips for our trip down from Nogales and gave detailed directions that led us through each stop, highlighting restaurants and points of interest.
There is so much to see and do in beautiful Bahia de Kino. Casa Tortuga is the picture-perfect place to rest and relax between Sonoran adventures!
These two casitas are perfect for a single person or a couple, although hey could accommodate another person. The sounds of the waves and birds soothe you to sleep and in the morning sunshine, you can make a cup of coffee (all provisions are in the kitchenette) and take 3 steps onto the sand to saunter along the miles-long beach, picking up shells, and barely seeing another person. The friendly, knowledgeable American owners are on-site, and available for information and suggestions, but you have complete privacy and total quiet. This was the first place on our 11 day trip to San Carlos, Alamos and Bahia Kino where we could flush the toilet paper down the toilet. The downstairs unit is very small, but everything you need is there (sink, refrigerator, utensils and dishes). We love the Talavera tile and open waterfall shower and the bathroom amenities provided. The upstairs unit is larger, with a huge veranda where you can sit out and watch the sunsets and sip a glass of wine. Both units are furnished in beautiful, tasteful Mexican style and very functional. We used the kayaks provided and also went snorkeling. The water was clear and warm (in November), but not too many fish. Restaurants nearby...we love walking to El Pargo Rojo for awesome fresh fish, and Casablanca for breakfasts. This was our second visit to La Tortuga, and we definitely will be returning.
Quiet Romantic Getaway
If you are looking for a quiet getaway in a beautifully decorated and maintained casita with tropical landscaping this is the place for you! This casita is just the right size for a romantic getaway. We enjoyed the large balcony with its comfortable lounge chairs and sea views very much. The casita comes with a electric bbq and we found ourselves sipping cocktails on the balcony at sunset while fresh fish from the local fish market grilled. We saw pelicans and terns fishing, a large pod of dolphins and late one afternoon we heard seals and sure enough there were two of them fishing right in front of the casita. The casita also comes with 2 really nice kayaks, beach chairs and umbrellas. The owners were traveling during our stay and their representative, Elaine, was very helpful and friendly while at the same time never intruding on our privacy. We will be back again and again!
Activity and Interests
Kayaking, swimming, beachcombing, hiking, relaxing! Attractions include birdwatching, fishing, boat trips around the islands and into the estuary. Seri Indians visit, selling their collector quality baskets, stone and wood carvings, and shell/seed necklaces. There are great seafood restaurants and taco bars galore.
