House, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, 5 Sleeps
About Pete Vega
As a family, we like the laid back sleepy little town feel and fell in love with the areas springs, specifically Three Sisters. What started as a weekend get a way has turned into a wonderful place we are happy to share.
Pete Vega purchased this House in 2010
Why Pete Vega chose Crystal River
Pete Grew up in the Crystal River area, love the sleepy town feel and the nature and natural beauty of the Springs, River and Gulf of Mexico. We chose Crystal River because I grew up close to the springs and remember swimming in them as a kid. I enjoyed frequent field trips and summer camps to see the manatees and swim in the springs. My first scuba trip was in King Springs, around the corner from our place. We hope you enjoy the area as much as we have....
What makes this House unique
Although the City officials do not want visitors for less than 90 nights and has outlawed vacation rentals, our property is Grandfathered in. Crystal River is a quiet little town with plenty to offer. The springs are beautiful and less than a 2 minute paddle from our dock. On any given morning you can see manatees and dolphin swim by our dock, boat or paddle to waterfront restaurants and enjoy the nature preserve in Kings Bay. A 7 mile scenic boat ride takes you to the Gulf of Mexico where there is fantastic fishing, nature viewing and in the summer, scallop harvesting. You will enjoy near by Homosassa Wildlife Park and Indian burial grounds which leave a lot to explore. Golf courses, bike/hiking trails close will allow for an active vacation if desired.

Lovely little home, clean, comfortable, and perfect location. Definitely look forward to renting it again next year.
Perfect little family hideout
The area was beautiful and peaceful. We were able to observe manatees from the dock in the backyard as well as take the kayaks out of our little inlet to Hunter Springs for the day which was a huge money saver! The gazebo was my favorite serene spot for my morning coffee. And the cherry on top of the cake is certainly the owner, Pete! He was super quick with responding when I had questions, he was delightfully flexible with our arrival and departure and he stopped by personally to make sure we were enjoying our stay! The little bit of dirt and dust around the house was totally made up for with personal attention and convenience of it all! Pete's recommendations for adventures around the area were spot on and super helpful when planning our week! We also ran into a fellow renter of Pete, she recognized the kayaks! Haha! Even she had nothing but wonderful things to say about renting with Pete! We will definitely be contacting him again when we are ready to come back! The experience was amazing and unforgettable!
We are glad you enjoyed your visit and provided a 5 star review, thank you! We work hard to provide our guests with a great experience, this family was great at communicating and letting us know of their special need child and service pet and their requirements. Our efforts paid off and this family was able to take advantage of what Crystal River had to offer and have a memorial experience Love to hear adjectives from our guests like "Amazing and unforgettable" .... we look forward to their return visit and hosting them again! Pete
Quiet and relaxing
A lovely place to stay. All the neighbors I met were great and we enjoyed the best sunsets right down the street.
Enjoyed the stay. It was a short trip to the Crystal River by boat. Marina close by for fuel and bait. Gets a little shallow for a 22 foot boat at low tide, but all in all I'd do it again. Thanks Pete for the prompt communication when needed.
We loved our first visit to Crystal River and will be back. The house was clean and exactly as described - comfortable, well appointed, and with great information about the area. Even though it was after Manatee season, we had a great snorkeling tour with Underwater Birds during which we had some up close time with the manatees. It was great to have access to the kayaks, so we could explore on our own in the springs and canals. One morning two manatees came up to the end of the canal right by the dock. Perfect!!
Small but efficient
The unit was smaller than we expected but clean. Not a lot of cook ware to use. The front TV didn't have a remote and wouldn't turn on manually. Probably wouldn't stay there again.
The City of Crystal River is built around Kings Bay, a manatee
sanctuary popular for snorkling or scuba diving in the winter when
manatees are in abundance. Summer offers a warm area for all types of
water sports including snorkeling, Scuba and great fishing with the
constant cool waters from the springs to keep
you comfortable. Easy access to the Gulf of Mexico for year round
fishing and when in season, scalloping. Fast becoming an area known
for ecotourism with a large number of nature trails, parks and a
canoe trail. For the Golfing enthusiasts we have 9 courses enough to
keep you busy all week. Lots of shopping for the bargain hunters.
