About Christel Detsch
I am a native of Germany and came to Colorado in 1974 as an exchange student-a lifetime ago. I have been here ever since but I go back to Europe regularly to visit family and friends. For many years Alice's Acres was our vacation home. Now the children are older, so am I, and we want to share our house with others who love the mountains, the peace and quiet. It is still furnished more like a cozy family retreat rather than a vacation rental. And we still use it as a family now with grandchildren who are learning to love the mountains as we do.
Christel Detsch purchased this House in 1985
Why Christel Detsch chose Black Hawk
There is a little cabin cabin below the house. We stumbled on it in 1977 and spontaneously decided to buy it. We had very little money, barely enough, and it wiped us out. However, we had our mountain retreat. Over the years we added more acres and built the larger home. That's how it started.
What makes this House unique
Of course, I love our house, but I also love the surroundings, the wind in the trees, the fresh air, and most of all the peace and quiet. To step outside in the morning, a cup of coffee in your hand-it is priceless. Our home is authentic Colorado.

Wonderful and relaxing!
Long Weekend in Colorado
Alice's Acres turned out perfectly for us. We did our grocery shopping and had dinner in Nederland, which is cute. We hiked around at Golden Gate Canyon State Park. We made day trips into Denver and Boulder and went to a concert at Red Rocks. We had our coffee on the deck and campfires a couple of nights. The cabin was a perfect home base for our little reunion weekend.
We had an amazing time at Alice's Acres! Christel was a perfect hostess. The property was beautiful and we enjoyed having our coffee on the porch watching the humming birds. It was exactly what we needed. The road is not paved though so I recommend taking a 4 wheel drive vehicle up there. We took day trips to the national park, Denver and went white water rafting. What a great stay!
Very nice property all we were looking for in a vacation home. Close to Nederland and Boulder. Clean but rustic. Quiet peaceful and comfortable. You can find the property with GPS.
Great, secluded cabin
Closer to Nederland than Black Hawk. Great location and a comfy cabin.
Relaxing mountain retreat
This mountain cabin was exactly what we needed for our Colorado vacation. It is a bit out of the way, but that was just fine for us. We visited Boulder, Golden, and Estes Park. We also enjoyed just being in the cabin and watching the hummingbirds. Christel is fantastic and so easy to work with!
