Seaside Escape! Boater’s Paradise!

In the heart of the Florida Keys, 'La Casitas' are on MM 52.

'La Casita Sol' is a quaint 1/2 duplex canal home with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom that can comfortably accommodate 4-6 guests.

This lovely home sits on the Atlantic Ocean side, just 2 houses from the ocean.

'La Casitas' are really centrally located to a number of activities & easy access to different attractions, but you still will feel like you are 'away from it all'.

Located just 1 hour from Key West and 2 hours from Miami, our vacation home is a nice road trip destination. The Florida Keys Marathon Airport is a very easy commmute and the Key West International Airport is just 1 hour away.

A shaded deck area by the canal lends itself to a relaxing time; perfect for barbecuing, fishing from the canal, or just enjoying the cool breeze coming from the ocean.

With 35 feet of dock space at the beginning of the canal, it can accommodate a wide variety of boats.

Ideal for a couples’ getaway or a family trip!

My name is Judy and my family and I own/manage 'La Casitas' vacation rentals. 'La Casita Sol' is family-owned & we take great care and pride in opening it up to you, our guests, so you may have a comfortable & relaxing home stay at during your Keys trip. I do my best to provide you with excellent customer service, answer your questions in a timely manner, and help make booking your vacation stay with us simple & smooth. My family & I absolutely LOVE spending time here in our 'Casita' and we hope you love it, too. Soon we will be adding another vacation home right next door to 'La Casita' which we will start taking reservations for soon. If your week is not availalbe, don't worry because you may be able to rent next door our new one coming soon!

Why Judy Formoso chose Marathon

'La Casitas' are conveniently located close to everything, but will still feel like you are away from it all. The house has great access to the Atlantic Ocean and we are just 2 house from the open water. The Bay side is also easily accessible. Out on the deck there is a beautiful view out to the ocean and in the evenings there is very often a wonderful breeze. 'La Casitas' are a waterfront ground level home. You won't need to worry about climbing up a flight of stairs after a day of sightseeing or on the water. Our kids just love to fish right from the dock. Watch the manatees come by the canal to visit.

What makes this house unique

Great access to the Atlantic Ocean... you will be right there and Bay side just through Vaca Cut! Minutes from great fishing out on the water! Even near by sand bars for more water fun! Centrally located in the heart of the Florida Keys.

This place was perfect. The house was very well maintained and clean. It had everything you needed for a great vacation. Judy was extremely helpful. Will be back next year.

nice location, but place needs some more attention and surley some proper cleaning

No question, the location so close to the sea is great. But, if you compare prices, the place is competing with other forms of accomodation... (which due to VRBO rules I cannot mention, even though the words are so general, what's wrong with VRBO: "The reason we are currently unable to approve it is listed below. Please revise your review so that it meets our content guidelines, which you can see here. When you’re done you can resubmit it by clicking the button below:

"Your submission contains promotional content that would promote other websites, businesses, services or products unaffiliated with this website.?) offerings, and therefore needs to deliver equivalent standards")

This was not the case:

Regarding cleanliness, all glasses had plenty of (different) lipstick, cutlery and tableware needed a proper wash before being used. There was a larger piece of coral under my sheets and the floors were kind of sticky. The outdoor furniture is partly broken and the entire place seems rather run-down and not well maintained. There is no eye for detail and despite having a washing machine, providing some detergent would be as nice as providing garbage bags in the kitchen.

Could we recommend the place? To be honest, we won't come back as long as the place looks like that, because at the end, you pay a lot for a stress- and hassle-free vacation but don't find the equivalent for your money. Sorry

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear you feel this way and really wish you would have let us know when you arrived about these concerns! We strive to provide great service to our guests & we are often commented about the cleanliness of the house & how well-stocked the house is. Upon your arrival I contacted you to check on how things were, but I never did receive a response. If we would have know this situation we would have surely taken steps to remedy the situations to the best of our ability by making sure that our housekeeping made things right & replacing/repairing any patio furniture that may be broken. In addition, it is our standard practice to provide guests with some laundry detergent, garbage bags for the kitchen and bathroom, paper towel roll, toilet tissues, bath soap, liquid kitchen soap with sponge, & bathroom liquid soap to get them started. If for some reason, these things were not provided to you, we needed to know so we could make it right. If you complain on the site after your stay, it is really a shame & there is really not much we can do for you at this point. If you look through all the reviews, you will see that we have never had this type of review from a guest. As a matter of fact, our guests often return because they liked it. Again, I am sorry to hear you did not have a positive experience. We wish you the best in your future travels and do hope you can be more communicative with the next owners of where you choose to stay. Thank you again.

Quiet Paradise in the Middle Keys

The unit was exactly as described and had everything we needed as we searched out a quiet place near the water to unwind. What a delight to sit out on the chairs by the canal and enjoy the morning sunshine and the afternoon shade. The location is perfect - centrally located in Marathon just on the level of the airport and a block from a delightful bakery, Sweet Savannah! The unit featured elegant furnishings, two comfortable Queen size beds and a fully-loaded kitchen that made the stay very pleasant. The washer/dryer were very helpful as well. And don't worry about WiFi as I always do... it's super fast and reliable. Judy was a great hostess, ensuring that all went smoothly during our visit. Just sorry we didn't get to meet her.

Fantastic Location

Our stay at 790 La Casita proved to be one of the best vacations we've ever had. The location was amazing. The convenience of the canal behind the house was great given that we brought our boat with us on the trip. There are several places to go grocery shopping near the home along with some decent restaurants. The home was very clean and spacious. Overall, the experience was one to remember.
