About Bettina Steiger

As 25 year resident of Cape May County, I have extensive knowledge of the coastal region. Certified as a NJ owned woman in business, I take pride in having multiple companies. I have excellent customer service skills, organization skills, artistic skills and I am willing to work. I enjoy my family, traveling, cooking, scuba diving, Photography and talking to new people.

Bettina Steiger purchased this house in 2004

Why Bettina Steiger chose South NJ Shore

I choose this property because it was close to the water, had the perfect view to Sun sets, has a big ground and it fits my budget. Ultimately I would love to own a piece of property on the Beach side too. Being a pet owner it was important that my dogs would enjoy the grounds as much as I do. It is an area that has not been discovered by many people yet and nature seems to be as natural as it can be without all the crowd that the beach side attracts.

What makes this house unique

The benefit of owning this property is that it rents well, because off the short distance to the Bay. You can take the Kayak out and watch sea life and sunsets unfold peacefully right in front of your eyes. The Bay it’s a safer setting without large waves and rip currents. It is free and amazing each time you come to the beach. Walking with your husband, family or your dog is another BIG reason why this is a great property. Migration of horseshoe crabs in May is amazing and very educational for young kids and grown ups too. On Clear nights you can see the State of Delaware.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We had a great time this past week. The house was a great location offering the needed privacy but close enough to Cape May to enjoy all it has to offer.

Very nice, cozy for our little family and dog

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time spending Thanksgiving at the beach in this cute house. The yard was great for our dog. It was close to the beach and our kids loved our time there (the games in the closet were an added bonus for us). The showers were a bit tricky -- hard to control the temperature in one and the other one soaked the bathroom floor because it was aimed right at the shower door. It would have been nice to have some towel hooks in the master bathroom and on the front porch (even in the fall, we used lots of towels to keep the sand out of the house) and a few extra (full size) blankets (again, it was chillier when we were staying there). We also would have appreciated some more lighting -- especially some lamps in the living room and in the master bedroom (again, we were staying during a time of year when it was darker earlier) and some directions on how to use the various remote controls. But those are just small details. The house is very convenient and comfortable and we had a lovely stay.

Owner's Response: Dear guest, Thank you for taking time to write this informative review. To my surprise you have been the first rental after September. Therefore extra lighting beside overhead was not thought off. Blankets, linens and towels are in each closets for use. I will make an effort to install hooks in the green bathroom as the red one has hooks and towel bar. I appreciate the feedback and will address the remote control instruction for future guest. Again reviews are great to help me improve this rental property Thank you for staying with us and have a great holiday

A Great Vacation Spot!

  • 5 of 5

The house is very comfortable, attractive and clean. The appliances (microwave, washer and dryer etc.) are in good working condition and easy to use. The deck is great and gets plenty of sun throughout the day. (There is an umbrella if you prefer shade.) We really enjoyed eating lunch out on the deck and dinners too some nights. The yard is much bigger than I expected it to be. Our dog had a field day and could roam all day long--safe within the fenced in area. We had a wonderful sense of privacy over all. The beach is literally one house away, and it exceeded my expectations. It is fairly wide, and great for walking or sitting, with nice smooth sand near the water. The beach was always pretty empty, and the people who were there were relaxed.... Our dog could run free and loved going in and out of the water. There is a WaWa under a mile away--if you want to grab beverages or snacks etc.... There is a Shop Rite about 5 miles away, which has everything! Cape May was easily accessible and a low stress drive. One tip a waitress shared with us: if you want to go to the beach in Cape May, drive to Pittsburgh Ave and New York Ave intersection. There is plenty of parking there just a block from the beach (unlike at the heart of Cape May where parking is scarce near the beach and just at large). The Cape May beach is amazing--beautiful wide beach, great waves! If you like healthy and tasty food, I'd recommend "Good Earth Organic Eatery" in West Cape May.... The Lighthouse in Cape May was also really interesting to visit, and worth the climb to the top! So all in all, I'd recommend you rent this property! I think you'll have a great, relaxing time.....

August 2016 - Great House Located Seconds to Dog-Friendly Beach

  • 4 of 5

Our stay was enjoyed by both people and animals. The house was private and convenient. The kitchen was well-stocked with whatever we needed and hadn't already brought. Spent lots of time on the front porch and grilling on the back deck. Benji (my loved mutt) enjoyed the fenced-in yard, but not quite as much as he loves the beach! If you're not already familiar with the bay beach, it's the best place to watch incredible sunsets over the water! Kayaking on the bay was great....there's a wheeled transport at the house, making it so easy coming and going. If I had to provide a negative, there were some burrs in the yard - check your pooch when it comes in and keep flip flops on in the yard - not a huge deal.

Fish & Fancy (excellent take-out seafood) is right up the road and Harpoon Henry's (my absolute favorite bayside restaurant) is a couple miles away. Both downtown Cape May and Wildwood are convenient by car.

Owner's Response: Dear Guest, thank you for providing me and future guest with this detailed review. Reading all of the feedback about the burrs encourage me to consult a landscape designer to see how we can prevent those annoying things. I will continue to improve to make your rental experience a great one. For now thank you again for booking with us and it was a pleasure having you in my house. Have a safe winter. Bettina

Beautiful Home and Wonderful Location

  • 5 of 5

This house is located in Villas, which is on the bay side of the Cape May Peninsula.

The property was very private and located very very close to the beach (only one house between it and the dunes).

The beach was generally deserted or only had a few people on it at a time.

The depth falls off quite slowly (one could stand in waist high water and be 50+ feet from shore),

so dont expect enough waves for jumping or using a boogie board with.

The sunsets were indeed wonderful and better than expected!

Wawa, CVS, hardware and grocery stores are quite close by and very convenient.

During our stay we went to Stone Harbor, Wildwood, and of course, Cape May; all under 15 miles by car.

The living room was comfy with seating for 6 or more and, after getting used to the remote, the TV worked just fine.

Cable and WIFI were a welcome feature for the kids and for searching for the next day's activities.

For the dogs, the feeding bowls were welcome as we forgot to bring our own.

It was very hot during our stay so the central A/C was a requirement for us and worked quite well.

The kitchen and dining area were stylishly furnished and included electric oven, stovetop, and microwave.

Pots, pans, and utensils were plenty as were less common items like scissors and a sharp butcher knife.

The dishwasher was a welcome addition to our typical experience and made one less chore to do.

The washer and dryer allowed us to use the linens and towels provided as well as clean our own things during the week.

The two full bathrooms made mornings much easier to manage.

The hedges in front of the house almost completely obscure the house from view.

There are neighboring houses on only two sides and both are blocked by hedges or privacy fencing.

The yard is rocky and sandy for the most part as expected,

but there is nice thick grass growing on the eastern side.

The burrs were still found in the front yard as well as along the road _across_ the street,

so keep your pets on a leash and/or use the eastern side only.

Apparently the method of removing the grass species that create these 'seed pods'

requires tremendous effort (basically scorched earth)

and it is clearly not limited to this property!

The covered porch made a great place to leave our wet shoes and life-vests.

The outdoor shower certainly helped clean off the sand that permeates almost everything.

We also enjoyed using the two-person kayak and welcomed the little cart to move it!

Owner's Response: Wow! thank you thank you for such detailed review. I really appreciate the time it took to think about what to write and type it all out. I also appreciate your recommendation, which I will replenish the item of inventory for the very next guest. As for the burrs, I had the landscaper bag each load when cutting the grass instead of leaving it on the ground, but the winds that bring the weed from other properties and the dunes makes it very hard to control it. It is recommended to keep flip flops on in areas unfamiliar to you to avoid issues. I am glad you enjoyed yourself and your family and I am privileged to be part of it. Regards, Bettina

Great location for family vacation!

  • 4 of 5

The listing description was accurate regarding the location, the property and amenities. You could literally just come with your close and personal items and have a great time. Everything that was needed was there! The house looks like it was recently remodeled, was cleaned and well maintained. The home sits on a large lot on a quite street. The property is only a few steps to the beach. We enjoyed walking as a family every morning on the beach with our dog. People are very friendly in the area. Only a 10 minute drive to Cape May shops and great sea food places to eat! We went for long evening walks to watch the beautiful sunsets. We will definitely recommend it to our family and friends. We can't wait to come back next year!

Location, location, location!

  • 4 of 5

The house was ideally located just steps from the beach! The fenced in yard worked very well for my dog and this beach is dog friendly. We enjoyed many walks on the beach! The house is really clean and had everything you could need. I read all the reviews prior to our arrival so I was prepared. I knew there was no outdoor shower, I knew about the beds not being the most comfortable or the bushes that may have needed some trimming. None of those things would deter me from renting again! The only thing that I couldn't figure out was why I couldn't get the remotes to work or the DVD player...I'm not complaining though, it gave me more reasons to get out on the beach or explore the area some more!! We have been coming to this area for quite a long time and this was one of my favorite rentals!!
