Vilano Vacation Rental House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Sleeps 8
About Anastasia OConnor
My husband and I purchased and renovated this home to use for our retirement in years to come. We also liked the thought of having a place to go on weekends with our kids. We gutted the house to the studs and did a lot of the renovation work ourselves. Most notable, unfortunately, was when we installed insulation during the hottest month of the year, without benefit of electricity; we were covered in itchy pink fibers and drenched in sweat, and jumped in our car, drove to the beach, and ran into the water, fully clothed.
Anastasia OConnor purchased this House in 2000
Why Anastasia OConnor chose Saint Augustine
Vilano Beach is a special area, with the beach on one side and the bay on the other. We love that you can walk to restaurants and shops! Vehicular traffic is pretty minimal and it is quiet and peaceful. While the bustling activities of historic St. Augustine are just a five-minute drive from the house, they seem a world away!
What makes this House unique
Totally renovated home! The beds are so comfortable. O'Cottage by the Sea is bright, uncluttered, cheerful, and welcoming.

Wish we'd rented for a longer stay!
The property was just wonderful for our long weekend family gathering. Plenty of space, well furnished with everything we needed, and a short walk to the beach. Property owner was very pleasant, we would most certainly rent again!
Great location and so clean!
This property was clean and spacious! The setup was perfect for 2 families to share. We had everything we needed and was a short walk to the beach. The owner was very responsive and so easy to work with. We really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to anyone!
Great location and house
Nicely kept beach house with four bedrooms. Feels spacious. Our kids loved the bunk beds. There is an outdoor shower for sand (with heated water!). It’s about a five minute walk to villano point which has a great cove and inlet, it feels like a secret place for families to hang out. Publix is around the corner for supplies, along with a liquor store. We went to the fort in st Augustine and there are also a couple of playgrounds nearby for a break from the beach.
Kitchen has a coffee machine, and basic spices etc so no need to bring those unless they are out. Pretty fully equipped for cooking with utensils, pans, pots etc.
Overall—nice family house and we want to come back.
Quiet location near beach
The house is spacious and bright. Walk to beach was a little confusing at first because of private driveway signs. You can drive on beach in designated area, there is a charge. Publix is also a walk away. Overall everything we needed was available. Caution about grill, it was rusted.
Great house, spotless, comfortable beds, just right for a family wedding weekend. Five minute walk to the beach or Publix. Highly recommend.
Lucky to have found this little gem in Vilano on a last-minute trip. Clean, updated, roomy, and welcoming house. Loved the convenience to Publix.
Vilano Beach is located at the intersection of the Atlantic Ocean and the St. Augustine Inlet. Drive your car on the beach ($3 per day collected Memorial Day - Labor Day) or walk on for free and watch shrimpers, pleasure craft, and dolphins on the water! Vilano Beach is a skim-boarder's paradise! Fish off the Vilano Beach pier or at the ocean's edge.
Tired of the beach? Drive (or walk!) over the Ursina Bridge into St. Augustine to enjoy favorite tourist attractions including, Ripley's Believe it or Not! Museum, the Fountain of Youth, and the Castillo de San Marcos; shopping and dining along St. George Street; tours on the Old Town Trolley. Walk through Flagler College's campus, where parts of "Animal House" were filmed. Rent a scooter and zip down the cobblestone streets and admire the architecture.
Drive a little further to visit the St. Augustine Alligator Farm and the St. Augustine Lighthouse (two of my favorites!). Have lunch or dinner at the nearby Conch House and sit in a "nest" overlooking the water (be sure to try the calamari with banana peppers) or, if you are patient, wait for a table at O'Steen's for a seafood dinner.
Hop in the car and enjoy a quick and easy drive on A1A along the coast to Ponte Vedra Beach, where you can shop and dine, or enjoy the spa and golf at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club or Sawgrass. If you need more golf, check out World Golf Village ("where golf is king"), about 15 miles away; you can also catch a 3-D IMAX movie and visit the World Golf Village Hall of Fame.
Not one, but TWO, outlet malls are a 20-minute drive from our beach house. You'll find the JCrew, GAP, Aeropostale, Tommy Bahama, Nike, Bose, and Coach stores (among others) at the Premium Outlets and Kate Spade, Dooney & Bourke, Lucky, Off 5th, Gucci, Cold Water Creek, BCBG at the Prime Outlets.
