Not a house, not a cabin, maybe a camp

  • 1 of 5

We were extremely disappointed in the condition of this property after reading all of the rave reviews. I am wondering if we are actually reviewing the same property. The rental is in very poor condition, and appeared to not have been cleaned in quite some time. There were cobwebs everywhere (busy with spiders), dead bugs in the ceiling fixtures, leaves and other debris in the oven, and pillows covered with stains on the faded couches. Most of the windows did not stay open (had to be propped up), and had no screens (except for some sitting on the floor below some of the windows that didn't fit the windows). The house smelled of mothballs and the rooms were musty, but worst of all was the water that ran brown, and alternated smelling of rust or sulphur. We went out and purchased bottled water as we were afraid to drink what came out of the faucet. The refrig had quite a bit of someone else's food in it - filling the shelves on the door. Yes, there is a flat screen T.V. - with one working channel that is all "snow". Bedroom door did not close, and the electric lights regularly flickered - making us wonder what the condition of the electrical system was. It also is rather deceptive to describe this as a "remote" camp. It is actually right off of Route 16, behind a motel, and down the driveway past about seven other rental cabins. The only positives are - yes, it is on a brook, and there were plenty of towels. Other than that, nothing else to say.

We are not fussy renters - have rented many VRBO properties in the Mount Washington Valley for years. This one was sadly disappointing. We will not be back.

Perfect for Romantic Getaway

  • 5 of 5

A little late with the review, but we stayed here on NYE. The cabin is perfect for a romantic getaway but also has enough room for a family. It had a beautiful fireplace with plenty of wood and was tucked away and isolated. Stream running in the backyard provides relaxing background noise.

The owner was super sweet and accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed and making sure we didn't have trouble finding the place.

I would definitely recommend!

Home away from home in a secluded location just minutes away from main town - Location Location!!

  • 5 of 5

We visit NH every year from MA for Foliage and Story land visit during the fall. This was by the far the best stay we have ever had in the White Mountains. What a find - a pretty rustic cottage in a very private location. There is actually a Babbling Brook that you can see flowing right under the window while sitting by the cozy fireplace. Paul was so warm and welcoming - he made sure we were comfortable - the heat fired up - hot water running - enough sheets for everyone. That was so re-assuring. We had an absolutely amazing time staying at the cottage and visiting around. We will definitely be back there. Thank you Paul! - Dubey family (MA)

Fall get away

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I stayed recently and had a wonderful time at the cabin. Paul was a welcoming host and had a fire going and the cabin toasty for our arrival. Perfect and rustic; a cozy spot for a romantic fall weekend away and a great location. The brook behind the cabin added to the charm of this wonderful spot. Hope to be back in the winter to do some skiing and enjoy this fabulous cabin again. Thanks again! -Shannon and Dillon
