Cozy Winter Spot
We had a lovely quiet new years eve at the cabin. We had a great time sitting around the fire. In winter there is lots of snow and ice, the driveway was a skating rink. It snowed overnight and the driveway was plowed by the morning. The snow and ice wasn't an issue for us or our cars (AWD). It is a rustic cabin, nothing fancy and there is a bit of a smell of moth balls, but this is all to be expected for a more remote cabin. We had a great time.
This is a comfortable, cozy, rustic cabin
We were pleased to return to this convenient, well-set up spot next to a truly babbling brook. Well, we got snow so we had to settle for falling asleep with the babbling. Kitchen set up is great- we were able to cook most all our meals. There is a fine hike up the hill with an incredible view. Enjoyed both the fireplace and the woodstove.
Thanks for the wonderful review of my cottage. It has always been a special place for me.
Area was convenient but high traffic
Surrounded by vacation cabins , home was nice with good services , host was great had all ready to go. Linens bring your own , heavy use of moth balls .
Had lots of local traffic due to trails . Also some non desirable folks useing the access and adjacent property . Police responded after House alarm with a full show of force due to unsavory people living in the adjoining woods . Recommended we lock up everything and be vigalant to our surroundings .
Iwas surprised by some of your comments. The road is a class 6 road and can be used by `anyone. It is usually very quiet. I did not know we had people in the woods. I will address your other concerns, I hope you had a nice vacation.
Cute private cabin in the woods!
We loved the peace and quiet. The echo of the babbling brook was super peaceful and our dog was in his glory. It was a great place to unwind. The hike to the top of the Quarry was worth the trip!
We loved it, but expect rustic
The living room with fireplace was one of the coziest spots we have ever encountered, especially with feet of snow outside. We were looking to unplug for a few days and this cabin requires it because there are only a couple tv stations and no wifi (cell service was fine though). The cabin overall is rustic and old school, but the basics are all provided and everything functions just fine without modern frills. Cabin sits on a dead-end road that we found to be far enough away from route 16 that we felt quite secluded and never once worried about our dog making her way into traffic. The stream is literally feet from the cabin and is beautiful, and there are some expansive woods at the end of the road that offer some short hikes. As other reviews note, there are some signs that a couple mice are around (very minor signs), but we expected a bit of that for a cabin in the woods in the winter months. When you're looking for the place, note that it's on the same side of the road as Tanglewood motels (the pin on the map was a bit misleading). Well water has some iron in it, but I trust is safe and the owners provided some bottled drinking options. Owners were also very accommodating and available, despite being in the middle of going through some health issues. We'd go back.
Christmas in this cozy cabin
We stayed in this cabin in the woods for Christmas weekend. We loved having our dog with us. The fireplace was my favorite part as well as the beautiful stream right outside you could see from the couch. The cabin is close to all attractions. We had a wonderful time and the host made sure we found the place and that we were all set. She even offered to let us stay another night for free due to a snowstorm on the day we were checking out!!
