What a beautiful place!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Shores of Paradise March 5-11, 2018. Our lanai overlooked the courtyard and ocean. We woke every morning to the sound of waves.

The room is fully stocked. Freezer seemed to leak water into the fridge & we had a memorable incident with a large winged cockroach. Lesson learned- don’t leave sliding doors open. It’s posted that the air doesn’t work if the doors are open, however it seemed to function regardless. We tried to remember to turn off the air when doors were open. Washer/dryer were nice, however I could only fit 3 towels in a load so don’t plan to do much laundry. Some laundry detergent & dishwashing soap were provided. Checkout instructions were minimal. As other reviews said, the beach here was gone but not a problem for us, there are lots of beaches to visit.

This room is clean & comfortable (don’t let the cockroach incident dissuade you). Bruce, the owner, sent lots of information prior to our trip, promptly responding to emails. We rented a Jeep Wrangler from Advantage Rent A Car per Bruce’s recommendation.

We decided to visit the Black Sand Beach without researching the route & were surprised when the speed on Hwy 360 rapidly dropped to 15mph. So thankful to be in a Jeep! The road is windy & narrow, often too narrow for 2 way traffic, with numerous 1 lane bridges. After Hana, Siri insisted we turn around & return the way we came. I was reluctant to drive the hwy again in the dark, so we ignored Siri & continued on to Makena Beach, then back to Kaanapali. So glad we did! Every side of the island is uniquely beautiful & a must see, even if the roads are not recommended. Although the island is small, because of the incredibly reduced speed & windy roads, driving around the island is an all day event, especially if you make stops along the way.

Several restaurants were recommended to us including Kimos, Leilani, & Hula Grill. However we found these restaurants have identical menus. Their food is good (try the Hula Pie!), but visiting all three is unnecessary. We enjoyed Frida’s delicious Mexican food on the water. We enjoyed Skyline Kaanapali’s 8-line zip line with guides Matt & Ashely. Visiting Whaler’s Village & walking the beaches is a great way to spend part of a day, but be prepared to pay for parking. Unless of course you purchase makeup at Sephora (or any of their 90 shops, but this is my choice), & get your parking validated.

We really recommend this area and this hotel/room!

A very nice and comfortable place.

  • 5 of 5

It worked very well for our stay. Conveniently located to Kaanapali beach activities and restaurants. Very Quiet - even near Spring Break time.

My only negative comment is that it could use a new coffee pot. The old one is missing a shutoff plug, so you have to plan your drinking accordingly.

Beautiful ocean views, right on the beach

  • 5 of 5

My stay here was very pleasant. I could hear the ocean waves the entire time, and the soring views from the 5th floor lanai and the bedroom are spectacular. Steps from the beach, with pools, bar and restaurant, it feels like a resort, but with the kitchen and washer/dryer it feels like a private home. I would definitely stay here again.

The resort is high quality, and our stay was great. The condo has beach towels,1 snorkel set, and a boogie board. I did not have to go out and rent. Very comfortable and relaxing stay.
