Out 5th year celebrating Thanksgiving in the greater Wilmingron area.... by far the best house we have stayed at! The top floor has such a great open floor plan, that we loved it! Thank yiu!
Great weekend getaway.
Great location. Tons of space. Great view. Will be back.
Great experience. The owner is great to work with and the house is beautiful.
We will be going back!
Great stay for a good price!!
The beach house was plenty close enough to walk, just a 2 minute walk to the beach access area. The upstairs (where the dining and living room is) was open concept and very roomy. The A/C did break, but the home owners were extremely responsive, replying to my messages within 15 minutes and having someone out the next day to fix it. House was overall nice and a perfect location. Had a great time with friends and will be back next year!
The house is a nice size and close to the beach but for spending close to $3000. for the week, we were sadly disappointed. The house looked like it was just brushed over by the cleaning service prior to our arrival. Our grandkids white socks were filthy after just walking around the main living area for a little while as the floors needed to be mopped. There was dried macaroni noodles stuck on several of the kitchen cabinets and the top of the dresser and vcr in the kids bedroom. There was lots of black mold in the master bathroom shower and soap scum on the shower doors. The shower obviously hadn't been cleaned in some time. The red "suede" couch and loveseat covers in the family area need to be changed or replaced as they are worn and dirty looking. Soon after we arrived the coffee drinkers went to make a pot of coffee in the pot on the counter and found a note in the glass pot saying that although it was cracked at the bottom, it would hold coffee. We found another pot under the counter and tried to use that but it didn't run water through. The pots were not interchangeable. We texted the owners who were fairly quick to respond to buy a new one and they would reimburse us. One of the family worked on the second pot and got it to working, so we made do. The kitchen utensils left a lot to desire. Although the pics of the house showed a gas cooktop, it was actually a cracked glass cooktop. We had purchased well over $300.00 of food at the local grocery stores on our way to the home to prepare meals , but under the circumstances we ate many meals out and ended up throwing food away. We have stayed in VRBO homes each year for family vacation for the last 7 years. This was the worst experience. The VRBO ad said that they were a Premier Partner and "consistently provides great experiences for their guests". Ours was less than a great experience.....
The house was in a great location...close to the beach and had a nice ocean view from the top deck. The beds were comfortable and we enjoyed the open floor concept of the third floor.
When we first arrived we noticed the house did not appear to be very clean. The ceiling fans and air conditioning intake vents were full of dust (along with the baseboards). One bedroom had a tv that no longer functioned sitting on the floor while the one that operated (i suppose) rested on top of the dresser against the mirror (anchored to nothing). The paint and carpet could stand to be freshened up. There were only 5 out of the 6 chairs at the dinner table. Additionally, the air conditioning was not working on any of the three floors when we arrived. John was helpful in taking care of getting this fixed but the repairman was there until around 9pm that night.
When we went to prepare our dinner the first night the oven caught fire so it ended up being a Dominos night while the oven self cleaned for several hours.
The next morning we tried to make breakfast only to realize that the stovetop was not functional unless someone went to the first floor to turn on the breaker. Then if you turned the left front burner it stayed on high until said breaker was turned off. So every time we wanted to use the stovetop it was down to the first floor to turn on and off.
When trying to get silverware (which didn't match) from the silverware drawer the drawer came off the hinges and ended up in the trash can. My brother in law fixed this as well.
The kitchen was not well equipped. When the kids wanted to bake brownies they found 2 measuring cups (1/2 and 1/4 cup) and no baking dishes. Also, none of the dinner plates matches and if you wanted a bowl of cereal you had about 4 plastic bowls to choose from. We ended up purchasing plastic utensils, paper plates and cups, in addition to aluminum baking pans and dishes in order to adequately prepare and eat food for the week.
The refrigerator also did not stay cold and we ended up throwing $80 worth of meat away.
Overall we were very disappointed with the accommodations. Thank goodness we enjoyed our time there with family and were able to still make the most of our time at Kure Beach. The town was lovely and everyone was so friendly. We will definitely be back to Kure but certainly not to this home.
Close to beach, pier, shops, restaurants and all activities!
