Great

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed the cabin. No internet, cable, or phone, no problem. If you get motion sickness pack some Dramamine because the roads are twisty. The cabin lacked nothing. Pack some food and cook out. The kids loved the pool and the huming birds. Couldn't of had a better time.

Beautiful House with an Eclectic Feel!

  • 5 of 5

This was our third stay at the house and we are never disappointed! The cabin's location is ideal and encourages peaceful relaxation. The cabin itself was clean and comfortable. The owners were attentive to our needs, friendly, and accommodating. We would most certainly go back!

Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

This house and property were absolutely amazing and I am so glad I chose to book it amongst my other options. If you are looking for a secluded place to get away, this is definitely it. The property is tucked away about 10 miles from the main road and in its own pocket of land. The pictures just don't do it justice - from the wrap around deck, the backyard patio area, the patio table on an additional deck further away, to the classic wooden ceiling beams and fire place - I discovered more details to love about this property as I continued to explore it throughout the weekend i stayed. I stayed here for a weekend with a group of 10 friends and family, and had a perfect amount of space that felt really intimate but still allowed folks to circulate easily. We took advantage of the outdoor patio table by having breakfast there in the morning, as well as the gorgeous fire place at night which kept the house really cozy. There was more than enough fire wood provided by Shelly as well. Watching all the hues of sunset on the patio and deck was also absolutely breathtaking. The property was also gated, which made us feel really secure. Shelly also left a couple binders filled with more info about the area with things to do and places to see, which was helpful. Although the property's proximity to hiking trails and the sequoia trees definitely add to its appeal, the star of the show has got to be the house itself.

There was only one small downfall. Although this wasn't a big deal for my group in the end, the listing says there's wifi but you will actually be charged after using a low threshold of data. So basically, you'll most likely be charged if you use your laptops and phones for most things. This was okay though, as most people ended up having enough signal on their phones.

I definitely recommend this house! I came here to celebrate my birthday, and left with so many positive memories amongst loved ones. This place definitely has a place in my heart!

Owner's Response: Thank you Gerrlyn! I am so glad you enjoyed the property. I just want to clarify that because of our rural location, the only internet service available is by satellite. The service provider limits our uploads and downloads in order to optimize service for everyone using the bandwidth and fines us and slows our data speed if we violate the limits. We have to offer to pass any fines on to guests in order to insure compliance and adequate service for the next guests. Normally, the download/upload limits are not a problem but we have to ask guests to refrain from streaming video or uploading large files like photos. Otherwise the internet is perfectly adequate for surfing or checking email though not as fast as DSL service in the city. Also, multiple people online at the same time will slow service. I wish we could offer better.

Relaxing, secluded location

  • 5 of 5

Very professionally organized house with all the necessities; relaxing, extremely quiet location, fairly isolated (closest village is 15 minutes by car) and thus perfect for those trying to get away from it all.

Beautiful Home with Adjacent Hiking

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I stayed for four nights, and had an excellent time. It was very peaceful and beautiful scenery all around. The temperature, even at the end of July was in the low 70s for the daytime and cool enough to wear pants at night. The home was connected to Sequoia National Forest by a gate, and leads to some breathtaking views from up the hill from the home. I would recommend the property to anyone looking to get away and see Sequoia National Forest. The home was fully furnished, and welcoming to adults as well as children. We hope to maybe visit again one day.

Best vacation rental ever

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at the cabin. We all agreed it was one of the best places we have ever stayed. We weren't there a whole lot since we spent our time out hiking and sightseeing, but when we were there it was so comfortable. It was great to be in a place so quiet and dark to enjoy the night skies, watch the weather move through, or observe the birds and nature. We especially enjoyed the proximity to the Mountain Home State Forest and the Tule River. We spent two full days exploring Mt. Home and still did not see it all. The Adam and Eve trees, Hercules Tree, Genesis Tree, Oliver Twist Tree, and Hidden Falls should not be missed, and they are just up the road!! Unlike Sequoia National Park, the place was practically empty of people!

We had a fantastic time all around. We stocked up on fresh produce on the drive from Monterey and filled in the gaps at Save Mart in Porterville, so we cooked our own meals except for one night we had Super Tacos in Woodlake (very good place, by the way). You have decent cookware compared to most rentals, and we liked having the gas grill. It was nice to have fresh food on our schedule without having to drive any more for the day. French press is a plus in the morning.

We made good use of the pool when it wasn't thundering in the last few afternoons. That was a great cool off after hot hiking. We sat on the deck or the covered patio and ate quesadillas when it rained. We loved playing foosball and 9-ball before turning in for the night. We all slept well in the comfortable beds.

It was a great vacation, and a blessing to be out of Verizon range! Bear Spring is a treasure.

Thanks again for offering such a wonderful place.
