Cute, cozy, and cheery...this little ranch house on a quiet street in the quaint fishing village of Wenona, a small community on the southern tip of Deal Island where crabbing and oystering are a way of life is a perfect and peaceful vacation retreat. Eventhough water view is from just one window in the house, what this does mean is that you are very close to water...just minutes from a public boat ramp! This little house lives large and pleasant with its newly remodeled kitchen offering plenty of counter space, lots of big windows and bright light, and fresh paint throughout. We have so enjoyed this home and hope you will too with your next visit to Deal Island.
Loved the get away for a few days! Took some day trips to sight see and loved the feel of being at home away from home!!!
Very comfortable and very affordable, Mary was very easy to contact and replied very quickly. I will definitely recommend this as a great place to stay
This place was all around perfect.. We had one if the best vacations we have had here .. The island it's self was the simple life style it was the no worry type of place !! It has been 5 months an I'm now looking to buy a place up here !
This tiny house isn't tiny at all. It's comfortable and situated in a small fishing village on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Just a quick drive to Queen Anne or Salisbury. The owners are very quick to reply to questions. Home is comfortable, fully stocked. Recommend bringing bottled drinking water and ask about the beds before you book.I bought a blowup mattress because of my back. If you do go to Wenona, eat at Arby's at least once, walk around, meet the neighbors & stay at this tiny house. Everyone we met were friendly. We thoroughlly enjoyed our visit & will probably go to the Shore again.
The house was very clean and exactly as described. It is located in a quiet, peaceful community. We especially enjoyed the stars out on the deck-the island is far enough from city lights that we could see the milky way on clear nights. It was a relatively short drive to bay/oceanside beaches and good seafood. A great stay all around!
The home itself met/exceeded our expectations. Very clean, spacious, & comfortable. Well appointed kitchen and Weber charcoal grill allowed us to prepare nearly all our meals at home, reducing expense of travel. Air conditioning totally addressed the August heat/humidity making for a comfortable stay with very effective ceiling fans throughout. Attractive hardwood furnishings & comfortable living space. Neighbors were friendly, too.
Deal Island is remote, but charming. It's about a 15 minute drive to closest "larger" grocery store. The geography & nature is fascinating! We definitely enjoyed the birding and the owners had a nice library including a bird book (we forgot ours at home) that allowed us to identify varying species. Local produce stands on some of the backroads supplied our fruits and veggies!! Jane Island State Park outing one day was fun--although beaches only accessible via canoe/kayak (rentals available)--but it was good!! Friendly staff at the park, too! Also, Arbys on the Island was a great resource, too!
Headed to Virginia to Assatague State Park to see the wild ponies...but dogs not allowed on the island. So, we headed to Furnace City & that was an amazing spot. Much historical info, dogs welcomed, a lovely afternoon! However, we were ill-prepared for the zealous nature trail (needed boots) so we were not able to take advantage of it. We also visited the bakery that makes the famous "Smith Island Cakes"--delicious treat & the staff was fun & friendly to meet!
The following day we headed to the Assatague State Park in MD...only to find out (despite literature) that they too do not allow dogs...however, the National Park adjacent to it does...and found the treasure of our vacation. We were readily able to see the wild ponies just frolicking about...as well as many interesting birds, too. The Atlantic Ocean was amazing....life gaurded beach, beautiful sand, warm water. The $20 admission fee is good for seven consecutive days, so we drove there the remaining time every day (about 75 mins. from the home). Absolutely stunning and worth it!!
Nearby Ocean City did not impress us...too commercial! We did not do the boardwalk, although it seemed very busy. Not our cup of tea. However, a shrimp restaurant (both inside and outside seating) off the "main drag" was incredible...best seafood that we had, friendly staff, real family place!!
A definite gem...highly recommend!
