Comfortable home with beautiful views
We loved our stay! The wrap-around porch with its beautiful views was the perfect place for morning coffee and evening drinks. Our days were spent exploring the outdoors of the Highlands/Cashiers area. The cabin was a great home base for all of our many adventures.
My husband, dog, and I enjoyed our time tucked away in the mountains! It is very secluded but worth the effort to get to this house! It is about thirty minutes from anywhere so plan accordingly for a trip to Ingles! Plenty of room for more people. Easy check in and out. Watching the variety of birds on the deck and enjoying the cool mountain air are just two of the wonderful benefits of staying here!
Spacious, clean, and farily remote. A great place to get away.
This rental is actually nicer in person than it looks in the pictures! It would be ideal for 4-6 people, There were 4 in our group and we never even used the downstairs bedroom and living area. The location is fairly remote, both a good thing and a bad thing, depending on your perspective...
Beautiful site and view
It is a really lovely cabin and property,. The road and driveway are a bit of a challenge but in low, manageable.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in mid-August, with 2 adults and 3 dogs. Marty could not have been more helpful, and the home was very private in the woods, clean, and comfortable. It had everything we needed for the week, in the kitchen and elsewhere. We loved sitting out on the deck in the morning and enjoying the many hummers and other birds crowding around the feeders. There is WiFi, but cell service is limited; she helps overcome this by having a landline phone to call anywhere in the US. Plenty of bedroom space on all three floors, and overall extremely comfortable.
All in all, we could not have been happier, and will undoubtedly be back.
Awesome family getaway
Our family of 4 (2 adults, 1 teen, & 1 child age 10) came to NC to escape the heat of FL & spend some bonding time relaxing & going on adventures. This was not our first trip to the mountains of NC, so we had high expectations...they were met & exceeded! We had extended family staying near by so we spent time with them as well. It was so nice to be able to spread out in the spacious cabin after a long day, our older child took the loft area & our younger had his own downstairs "apartment" (which caused a little contention between the 2, as the older one didn't check out the downstairs before claiming the loft, lol). We enjoyed breakfast on the porch most mornings, taking in the spectacular views & watching all the amazing hummingbirds. We spoke with Marty, the owner, several times before arriving & she was so kind & accommodating, making sure that we had everything we needed so our vacation was a success! We did not smell any must or anything foul, period, in fact the cabin was so much more than we anticipated!! The weather was beautiful, warm during the days & cool at night, which made sleeping with the windows open a treat. I personally enjoyed being able to do yoga & exercise in the refreshing morning air out on the porch. The cabin was equipped with everything we needed, including laundry detergent which meant I had little to do but unpack when we arrived home, bonus for me! I highly recommend this property for families or several couples looking for a quiet, comfortable, relaxing "home base" in the NC mountains!! Some fun activities I recommend are zip lining in Highlands (about 30-40 mins away), there's also a fun tubing slide that is used in both Summer & winter near the zip line place, hiking to the many waterfalls, horseback riding at Chuncky Gal stables was great (they're about 1 1/2 hours away), & exploring the town of Highlands. Of course these are just a few that we enjoyed, but the possibilities for fun are endless. One word of warning, unless your cell service is AT&T you'll be lucky to get a signal most places (but on vacation we were glad for that), however the cabin has a landline phone & the WiFi in the cabin is fantastic so if you need access you'll have it there. Enjoy your trip!! 😃
From the Owner
“We bought this mountain home as a private get away from urban life in Florida. We traveled and vacationed in North Carolina and were aware of the beauty. We specifically wanted a home above a cool 4000 feet. We are close to Glenville and the New Duke Energy Pines Recreation Park on Lake Glenville. The located is centrally located. We can easily travel to Sylva, Franklin, and of course Cashiers and Highlands.”
Activity and Interests
Located 2 miles from Lake Glenville, about 20 minutes from 107S Cashiers (7.7 miles), and 11 miles from Highlands, the cottage is in the perfect location for travel and sight-seeing. Sylva and the Blue Ridge Parkway are close by. Nanahala State Park is also convenient for hiking. The cabin is close to hiking trails with beautiful waterfalls. From the Owner
“The home was selected due to its warmth, charm, location and privacy. There are 4 wooded acres surrounding the home. The cabin is tucked away beneath trees on top of a mountain ridge about 1 1/2 miles from Lake Glenville. However, the view from the front porch was the touch that made us choose this particular property.”
