About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, 6 Sleeps

This 3 bedroom/3 bath cottage sits above 4000 feet nestled on 4 acres of woodlands. This serene cottage offers a great mountain view, located off a secluded gravel road. The song birds and hummingbirds arrive in April, which can be observed while sitting in a rocking chair on the wraparound porch. There is wildlife in the area as well, notably red squirrels, chipmunks, bunnies, and occasionally a deer or two. The cottage offers a peaceful retreat to read, watch the birds/wildlife, have a fire in the fire pit, and enjoy the sunset.

Hiking trails are within walking distance from the cabin. Take a hike and enter into the forest of Yellow Mountain and wander old logging trails. In the rainy season, you can follow a waterfall as it travels the mountain top. There are many waterfalls within driving distance, including Rainbow Falls, Nantahala River, Whitewater Falls, Turtleback Falls, etc.

There is a bedroom and bath located on each of the 3 levels of the home. There are bed linens and towels on each level. There is shampoo, soap, lotion and tooth brushes, should you forget to bring something. There is a full kitchen with everything you would need. Washer and dryer are also available. The lower area has a bedroom, bath and sitting room.

There are 3 gas fireplaces in the home.

The kitchen has all the necessary appliances, kitchen ware, and table linens.

The porch is set up for outdoor dining as an option, with a secluded view of the mountains. There is a Webber grill available if the choice is do outdoor grilling..

The home is in a secret park like setting, surrounded by trees and nature.

Not only is the home located in a secret garden, but the home is nicely and tastefully furnished. There are two smart TVs, wifi, and unlimited telephone service.

About Marty LeBrun

Being a Florida resident and also employed in a busy emergency room, this cottage was a perfect retreat for my family and me.

Marty LeBrun purchased this cabin in 2001

Why Marty LeBrun chose Cullowhee

We bought this mountain home as a private get away from urban life in Florida. We traveled and vacationed in North Carolina and were aware of the beauty. We specifically wanted a home above a cool 4000 feet. We are close to Glenville and the New Duke Energy Pines Recreation Park on Lake Glenville. The located is centrally located. We can easily travel to Sylva, Franklin, and of course Cashiers and Highlands.

What makes this cabin unique

The home was selected due to its warmth, charm, location and privacy. There are 4 wooded acres surrounding the home. The cabin is tucked away beneath trees on top of a mountain ridge about 1 1/2 miles from Lake Glenville. However, the view from the front porch was the touch that made us choose this particular property.

Wonderful cabin on a lovely hilltop

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we stayed and will be back again. The cabin is comfy and inviting. The fireplace a joy and the wealth of birds (birdseed is provided) makes it a delight. The views are great as is the large wrap around porch. The accommodations are the best! And my cats love it!

Comfortable home with beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay! The wrap-around porch with its beautiful views was the perfect place for morning coffee and evening drinks. Our days were spent exploring the outdoors of the Highlands/Cashiers area. The cabin was a great home base for all of our many adventures.

Mountain Retreat

  • 4 of 5

My husband, dog, and I enjoyed our time tucked away in the mountains! It is very secluded but worth the effort to get to this house! It is about thirty minutes from anywhere so plan accordingly for a trip to Ingles! Plenty of room for more people. Easy check in and out. Watching the variety of birds on the deck and enjoying the cool mountain air are just two of the wonderful benefits of staying here!

Spacious, clean, and farily remote. A great place to get away.

  • 4 of 5

This rental is actually nicer in person than it looks in the pictures! It would be ideal for 4-6 people, There were 4 in our group and we never even used the downstairs bedroom and living area. The location is fairly remote, both a good thing and a bad thing, depending on your perspective...
