About Marty LeBrun
Being a Florida resident and also employed in a busy emergency room, this cottage was a perfect retreat for my family and me.
Marty LeBrun purchased this Cabin in 2001
Why Marty LeBrun chose Cullowhee
We bought this mountain home as a private get away from urban life in Florida. We traveled and vacationed in North Carolina and were aware of the beauty. We specifically wanted a home above a cool 4000 feet. We are close to Glenville and the New Duke Energy Pines Recreation Park on Lake Glenville. The location is centrally located to Cashiers, Highlands, Franklin and Sylva.
What makes this Cabin unique
The home was selected due to its warmth, charm, location and privacy. There are 4 wooded acres surrounding the home. The cabin is tucked away beneath trees on top of a mountain ridge about 1 1/2 miles from Lake Glenville. However, the view from the front porch was the touch that made us choose this particular property.

Fantastic Cabin , Great Views ! Just like a second home which it is for the owners so very well appointed, spacious, just a gem of a place. Its a bit removed and set up on a mountain but thats what you want. Drop down off the mountain and you are immediately in the heart of Cullusaja River Gorge which is one of the most spectacular areas in NC.
Located between Highlands , Franklin and Cashiers its about a perfect location as you could ask for. Great Hosts, Beautiful Cabin ...Definitely be returning !!
Thanks Marty !!!!!!!

Thank you all so much for taking the time to review our mountain cabin. We greatly appreciate the awesome review, it really means so much to us. Also, I want to thank you all for taking such wonderful care of our home. If you guys do decide to come back, I'll let you know of some great hiking trails (and one in particular is my daughter's favorite) that are less than a mile from the cabin YES!
Good value for the Cashiers/Highlands area
Clean and comfortable. Kitchen is pretty well-equipped with newer appliances. Nicely decorated in rustic mountain style. About 20-25 minutes from the crossroads at Cashiers (a bit remote, otherwise 5 stars). This was our second visit, and we are likely to come back again.
Thank your kind review. Appreciate your time at the cabin and how well you take care of the place in the woods. Hope you enjoy future visits!
A little piece of heaven!
The cabin is very well taken care of and offers everything you will need for your stay. Closest store is about 23 minutes away, so keep that in mind. Sitting out on the porch and watching the birds is about as peaceful as it gets. I found the cabin very clean
Thank you so much for your kind review. We appreciate your outstanding care of the cabin and not to mention the good care of the hummingbirds that hang out there!
Wonderful serene woodland sanctuary with loads of amenities
Hubby and I plus our doggies spent 2 1/2 weeks at this wonderfully relaxing home, enjoying a cool respite from the Florida summer. Every day our first cups of coffee were spent on the expansive porch's rocking chairs, overlooking the woods and mountains and listening to a veritable rain forest orchestra of birds. It was...heaven! While the interior of the house was really beautiful and tastefully decorated, we spent a lot of time on the porch. It was so magical to be outside, nestled into the landscape of trees and mountains. I even set up a makeshift music studio (I brought my musical instrument and music stand) and a yoga studio on one corner of the wraparound porch while the other side of the porch served as hubby's work space. Most all meals were served on the porch! Temps were in the upper 50's to low 70's during our visit - can I tell you how wonderful that is for a Floridian to experience in summer??? Even though the location was in the woods, the owners offer a well stocked 3 story home, with an ample kitchen, several TVs (hulu, Netflix, etc. all available), washer/dryer, tons of books and games and everything you need to work remotely if you need to (we did). What's more, if we ever needed to reach the owner for any reason, she would respond immediately and was very accommodating in all our communication. We found everything to be close enough for day trips - The Blue Ridge Parkway, Asheville, Western Carolina University, hikes, lunches out, waterfall visits - all were fun day trips. We recommend getting your grocery shopping done before heading up the mountain after your day trip, as you are about 30 minutes away from grocery stores. And honestly, once you are back "home", nature and the serenity pull you in and you won't want to leave for a while! Highly recommend the Cashiers Farmers Market (pet friendly!!) for their gourmet food items, amazing barbecue take out lunches with picnic benches onsite, and their freshly baked peach pies - ohmygoodness those pies were tasty! Lulus on Main in Sylva was not only pet friendly but had really good food - even the nearby breweries were pet friendly! We had a great time staying here at this location and could easily make this an annual visit. If you love being in nature or feel the need to get away from it all (without giving up any amenities!) than you would be very happy staying here.
aww, Susan and Pete thank you so much for the wonderful review as well as mentioning the local fun places to hang out (especially the dog friendly places)! Also, want to add my appreciation for your loving care and respect for the cabin. We love this place and we so hope others will enjoy it as well.
Thanks again for taking the time to write a review
VERY CLEAN AND MAINTAINED

Located 2 miles from Lake Glenville, about 20 minutes from 107S Cashiers (7.7 miles), and 11 miles from Highlands, the cottage is in the perfect, private location for travel and sight-seeing. Sylva and the Blue Ridge Parkway are close by. Nanahala State Park is also convenient for hiking. The cabin is close to hiking trails with beautiful waterfalls.
