Great house located in a small town.
Pool and beach were great! The house was clean and kept. Good A/Cs were very important because air conditioning can be a life saver on the Yucatan peninsula. The beach wasn't busy at all during out stay but it is next to a beach access mostly used by a some locals. The town is small without any major stores but the seafood restaurant in town was great.
Two night stay in Paradise
We stayed here for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed it! We are very thankful that we were able to stay with just a last minute request. The owner very generously found a way to get the house in order and let us take occupancy very quickly. This is a very large, well thought out space with room for at least four couples. Beautiful ocean view, fantastic pool and wonderful secluded sitting area when you are tired of the sun or wind. Great place to hang out to see the sunset. We had friends in for the day when their cruise ship docked in Progresso and they loved spending the day here. The beach is beautiful with good swimming available. Progresso and Chelem are close by for restaurants and entertainment and Uber is readily available. Highly recommend this home!
Very nice house, beach-front with everything and more than we needed
This was our second time to the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. The ocean was beautifully clear and turquoise, we found lots of shells, enjoyed the beach and the pool and watched the sunsets. Very safe place. Very clean and the cleaning staff offered to cook and clean a second time for very little money. Yajayra was also very helpful in organizing a trip and answered all questions very fast. There are a lots of restaurants nearby in Chuburna o Chelem. Make sure to try the ThaiBistro which offers excelent food. All in all we just enjoyed our holidays here. Thank you for letting us stay in your house, Anita!
Nice Layout, needs some updates
The house has great potential. The patio leading to the infinity pool is awesome. Lots of shade or sunny places to hang out. There is a great bar and sitting area around the side of the house. This was a nice place to get out of the afternoon wind. The kitchen is open to the living room making it nice for staying involved while preparing meals. The living room is small but worked OK for our group of 7 adults. The bedrooms were spacious and each included it's own AC unit. The upper level was spacious.
The house was run down. The bathroom fixtures were loose with handles coated in some kind of build up. The electrical system has some issues. The main refrigerator went out several evenings. It kept trying to come back on causing the lights to blink. There is a fresh water pump system that we could not use because it took the fridge out when pressing the button to run the pump. The bedding was stained and torn. Overall cleanliness was not very good.
The outside was nice but, similar to the inside, things were run down. Many of the plastic patio chairs were broken. One of them gave out under my son and scratched up his back while he fell. The large cushion covered lounge chairs are made of pallets screwed together. Nothing wrong with this except they were falling apart. The pool was full of paint chips and seagull feathers. A very nice maintenance man came our second day and cleaned the pool. After that...it was great but surprisingly cold. The ocean was warmer. He also set up a string line to keep the seagulls out of the pool. It had some effect but didn't keep them away.
The worst part was the barking dogs. The neighbor, who's place is about 15ft from the bedroom windows, had at least 2 dogs that barked most of the day starting at sunrise (about 6:15AM). Not just a little barking, they sounded like they were about to attack something. It made it very difficult to sleep past sunrise.
This house is one of the nicest places in Chuburna. It may be the nicest. It was a great experience to see "real Mexico". There are about a half dozen restaurants within walking distance. They all serve similar foods. Lots of fish and shrimp. The restaurants are pretty good and we had a lot of fun there. The environment was very rustic. Bring Peso's...Credit Cards are not accepted.
The beach was great. Sand was coarse with lots of shells. We walked barefoot for a few miles to the point without problems.
Close to the town Progreso with supermarkets, restaurants and bars.
40 minutes to Merida, a beautiful colonial city with everything you need - opera, ballett, concerts, museums, malls and all kind of restaurants and bars.
In the area you find many historic sites and other attractions - mayan ruins like Chichen Itza and Uxcmal, cenotes, flamingos and much more.
