On Quiet Beach, 2 Bedroom, 2 Bath, in Gorgeous Gated Community
About Sally Brett
I am a retired engineer and community volunteer living in Santa Clara, California. I was born in Hawaii 54 years ago when my father was in the army, based on Mauna Kea on the Big Island. When I was growing up, my family would migrate to Hawaii each August for our annual vacation. My sister and I now own this townhouse. We put considerable effort and pride into maintaining, updating, and decorating our Hawaiian paradise which we view as a priceless treasure.
Sally Brett purchased this Townhome in 1974
Why Sally Brett chose Kahaluu Bay
This property has been passed down through the generations. My father and mother purchased it because they loved this unique location and viewed it as the finest in the Hawaiian Islands. My father was an avid snorkeler and scuba diver. We spent our family vacations when I was growing up exploring the ocean reefs in front of KKSRC #5.
What makes this Townhome unique
Keauhou Kona Surf & Racquet Club, Townhouse #5 is located right on a gorgeous quiet beach. It is one of the very few properties on the entire island which have oceanfront privacy and solitude, Also, the ocean reefs directly in front off KKSRC #5 offer some of the most pristine, clear snorkeling and scuba diving in the world. Also, when the surf is up (normally in the winter), renters can use the surf board in the townhouse to surf the waves! Honu, Hawaiian Sea Turtles, can be seen almost every day on the beach. Locals call this location a 'Honu Haven' because it is one of the few resting places for this gorgeous turtle. During low tide Hawaiian petroglyphs can be seen on the rocks which form tide pools. This is a wonderful location to begin learning about ancient Hawaiian history!

Our stay at your Hawaii home was great. The sunsets and listening to the ocean were the best. Thanks so much.
Truly a 5 Star VRBO
We would come back to this place in a heartbeat. It was hard even to leave to do something during the day as we enjoyed our view of the ocean 75 feet away, The rental was stocked with everything we needed. The owner was a great communicator and also provided helpful information on what to do on the Big Island.
Quiet property (minus the sounds of the ocean and nature, herself, of course) that is in a great location just south of the hustle and bustle of downtown Kona strip. Right on the ocean so private sunsets nightly from the lanai, quality snorkeling within walking distance, plus very clean and welcoming pool in development. Tidy townhouse with everything needed to have a lovely stay on the Big Island including comfy beds after active Hawaiian days!
Quick getaway from Hilo.
We live on the Hilo side and wanted a quick getaway to escape the rain and wind. Great location and the condo fit our needs. Surprisingly quiet for such a big complex and having a direct ocean/beach path right outside the condo. The only time we heard our neighbors was when the Seahawks lost =(
The condo was fully stocked and had a great view, especially from the upstairs master. There is no AC, so I can see in the hotter summer months how stuffy and hot this condo would get, but in the cooler months it’s perfectly fine. We liked the location, and rented the blue Bikeshare and rode into town (5.5 miles) and caught the trolley ($2) back - drops you up the hill at the shopping center. KTA is just up the hill for groceries etc. We would stay in this complex again.
The entire renting process went very smoothly. The unit was comfortable & well supplied. View from patio outstanding.
Too many issues
Owner was not upfront. Saws and drills going six days week next door, manager of complex said owner was well informed and didn't relay "any" remodel information. Repairs not looked after as in the lanai screen door falling off upon repeated use which cut off access to lanai. The overall communication with owner was continued miss-information and didn't solve any problems. We have been coming to the Big Island since 1985 and have stayed at condos at this resort for the past 7 years. No other owner was this ineffective.
I am very sorry for the inconvenience this renter experienced. Unfortunately, several unavoidable events occurred. First, the remodel which was taking place next door slipped by over a month. Noise occurred which was not anticipated. I tried to make this up to the renter by first offering him a refund. When he didn’t want this I worked with the owner of the townhouse next door (who lives in Oregon) to have all noisy work mitigated as much as possible. The renter was still unhappy so I offered him a substantial discount for a return trip. Second, the window washer accidentally cracked one of the wheels on the patio screen. I offered to have my contractor come out immediately to fix the screen door. The renter refused this assistance stating he ‘just wanted to be left alone.” So, I had the screen door wheel replaced the day the renter moved out. I always do everything within my power to make a renter’s stay as optimal as possible. Sometimes, luckily rarely, unseen events occur. Again, I am very sorry for this renter’s experience.
