About Sally Brett

I am a retired engineer and community volunteer living in Santa Clara, California. I was born in Hawaii 54 years ago when my father was in the army, based on Mauna Kea on the Big Island. When I was growing up, my family would migrate to Hawaii each August for our annual vacation. My sister and I now own this townhouse. We put considerable effort and pride into maintaining, updating, and decorating our Hawaiian paradise which we view as a priceless treasure.

Sally Brett purchased this townhome in 1974

Why Sally Brett chose Keauhou

This property has been passed down through the generations. My father and mother purchased it because they loved this unique location and viewed it as the finest in the Hawaiian Islands. My father was an avid snorkeler and scuba diver. We spent our family vacations when I was growing up exploring the ocean reefs in front of KKSRC #5.

What makes this townhome unique

Keauhou Kona Surf & Racquet Club, Townhouse #5 is located right on a gorgeous quiet beach. It is one of the very few properties on the entire island which have oceanfront privacy and solitude, Also, the ocean reefs directly in front off KKSRC #5 offer some of the most pristine, clear snorkeling and scuba diving in the world. Also, when the surf is up (normally in the winter), renters can use the surf board in the townhouse to surf the waves! Honu, Hawaiian Sea Turtles, can be seen almost every day on the beach. Locals call this location a 'Honu Haven' because it is one of the few resting places for this gorgeous turtle. Also, during low tide Hawaiian petroglyphs can be seen on the rocks which form tide pools. This is a wonderful location to begin learning about ancient Hawaiian history!

Best location in all of Keauhou Surf and Racquet club. Right on the beach. 5 stars

  • 5 of 5

Best location in all of Keauhou Surf and Racquet club. Townhouse 5 is right on the beach. Loved the sound of waves at night. Lanai leads to path to beach- only a few steps. Lots of turtles and dolphins to watch. Townhouse was very clean and fully stocked. Great king bed. Awesome ocean views. Couldn’t be better. 5 stars. Thanks! We’ll be back!

Home Away from Home

  • 5 of 5

My new husband stayed here for the majority of our honeymoon and we wouldn't have done it any other way! The first thing I noticed and loved about #5 specifically is the location- it's arguably the best out of most of the town-homes! It has its own corner lot, so the extra privacy was awesome, and most importantly, sits directly adjacent to the water! The master bedroom has an entire wall dedicated to windows overlooking the ocean- which is directly outside. Goes without saying, my favorite thing was to fall asleep to the sound of the waves.

The first few days of our trip were spent in a hotel/AirBnB. Although those were fun in their own way, we were so happy to check into a more home-y place. For a week's stay in #5, having the kitchen, laundry area, more space to relax, the lanai to enjoy meals with an ocean view and direct access to the beach was more than I could ask for on our vacation. It has the best of both worlds in terms of being on vacation, but having a place you can comfortably retreat to and have your own space in. We loved it so much that we are definitely coming back to #5!

Not to mention, the location of the Keauhou Kona Surf & Racquet Club as a whole is perfectly located. There's a full shopping center with convenience and grocery stores, gas stations and restaurants only 2 minutes away. There's also a great snorkeling spot a half-mile away and the downtown part of Kona is a 10-15 minute drive. Needless to say, the location is perfect for things to do! My husband and I spent many of our days driving to further areas to explore and Keauhou Kona Surf & Racquet Club as a starting point was very central!

We loved this place. It's absolutely perfect if you're looking to be in your own space on your vacation!

Stunning Townhouse, a Dreamlike Stay!

  • 5 of 5

My Wife and I stayed one magical week here on our honeymoon, and needless to say it was a truly, truly amazing.

Where to begin! I'll get to the townhouse itself in a second, but I have to immediately point out the location. One of my most favorite parts of our honeymoon was that I could open the back door, WALK 20 FEET, and have my toes dug into the sandy beach. Whether you want to stroll the beach during the gorgeous sunset, go sit by (but not too close!) the sea turtles that crawl right up on the beach, or enjoy a brunch on the beautiful Lanai while watching the waves, you truly feel like you are in a special place.

The location of this place alone makes me want to go back tomorrow, but the townhouse itself adds a lovely charm! The lava rock lined showers give a fun local touch, and the walls are graced with beautiful local wooden art depicting the surrounding sea life. The King size master bed is incredibly comfortable, and we loved falling asleep to the sound of the waves every night! The kitchen has everything you need if you like to cook, and don't forgot to use the coffee maker for some of that local Kona Coffee!

The townhouse is in a perfect location in Kona, with a large shopping center 1 minute up the hill for all your needs (and Farmer's Market!), and you can easily head south towards Captain Cook's cove, or north into town for any experience, including a cute white sand beach, and great snorkeling locations. We were able to create so many amazing memories here in Kona, and this townhouse is a HUGE part of that. We could not be more blown away, and thankful for our stay, and would recommend this place to any couple, or family looking for a beautiful tropical vacation!!!

We did not want to leave

  • 5 of 5

We literally booked this condo 1 day before we came to the big island and Sally was more than accommodating.

This townhouse was perfect for our family of 4 ( two kids 4 and 6 years old). The location of this unit is key.

It is an end unit – so you only have one neighbor, making it very private. And no development at this time next to you on the other side making the beach very private too.

Kids loved playing on the beach steps away and we could watch them from the kitchen or lanai.  We have rented many condos and I have to say I have never had a condo so well equipped:

perks included beach chairs for sitting right on the beach sipping coffee in the mornings and in the evening while watching the sunset, boogie boards for magic sands beach just up the street (also an excellent snorkeling site too), the soothing sounds of waves as we slept, a very well stocked kitchen – oil, seasoning, dishwashing soap, ice, ice chest, lots of storage containers and zip locks supplied, bathrooms all had soap and even laundry detergent was supplied, hose on out side of condo to hose off gear and feet before entering the condo, appreciated the scale for weighing our luggage before leaving, and 3 laundry baskets that actually came in handy for storing our gear in the trunk of our rental car.  And I can't say enough about the owner Sally who was so kind to let us check out late as our flight did not leave till 9 pm- giving us one extra day at the beach before we left.

Sally thank you so much for being so accommodating -this is a family vacation we will never forget. Looking forward to returning in the future. Mahalo

Hawaiian Haven

  • 5 of 5

Sally’s townhouse is an ocean front end unit at the very well maintained, beautifully landscaped KSRC. We enjoyed our daily snorkeling and site seeing excursions but always looked forward to returning to the townhouse in the afternoons. With the windows and patio door opened, gentle ocean breezes and hypnotic sounds of crashing waves permeated the unit 24/7. The view of the ocean from the master bedroom upstairs was especially breathtaking. There was beautiful artwork throughout the townhouse and it was well equipped with everything we needed for a pleasant 5 night stay in Kona. We loved watching nightly sunsets while dining on the patio. Our kids enjoyed looking for treasures on the shore of the beach that is steps away. We loved swimming the pool every evening. Mahalo Sally for an amazing stay in paradise!

Location..... it can't get better than this!

  • 5 of 5

Location location location, it can't get better than this! Perfectly located near (or should I just say 'on') the beach, quiet but central (shops and restaurants on walking distance) with great snorkling spots around the corner. Beautiful townhouse, clean and fully equipped. We had great dinners on the terrace with the best view ever. The amenities are great, the park is luscious with beautiful flowers and adult trees and our kids loved the pool. We'll sure come back again!!!
