Tremendous views of Rocky Mountain National Park!!! Roads to Estes Park have reopened and the community is back in business !!! Sit on the private patio and take in the view; steps away from Mary's Lake; elevated property with plenty of privacy; great location with easy access to all attractions (park entrance, Mary's Lake, fishing, hiking, golf and town center). This is the place you had in mind for your family vacation...
With 4 kids (high school through young adult), this home allowed us to feel like we had a place of our own for the week we were in Estes Park. Great place to be near the active downtown Estes Park, but still a feeling of privacy - especially for a morning coffee on the patio gazing at the mountains or star gazing at night. Fire ban was in force so we didn't get to take advantage of the outside campfire setting, but we skipped crowds at dinner by ordering take-out (available at most restaurants) and enjoyed the meals at this cozy cabin (and tons of dinnerware to accommodate meals). Great access to east side of park (Longs Peak, Twin Sisters, Lily Lake, etc) as well as main entrance (Bear Lake, Trail Ridge Road) and easy access to downtown via Riverside drive allowing you to skip crowded streets during busy times. A Longs Peak ascent was on our to-do list, and this site was very convenient for the early morning departure. Owner was very responsive to questions (though a binder or folder with FAQs could have saved the trouble). Wifi was sufficient to accommodate 5 or 6 active users (and we never turned on the TV!) Driveway is a little steep at the entrance so be sure to have a little momentum when turning in. Some furniture is a bit worn, but all was functioning and clean. Would definitely rent again when we return to the area.

Pluses: great view from back porch as other guests have noted; very convenient location to RMNP and Estes Park, only one close neighbor, shielded by trees and topography, so feels very private; good layout of rooms, with master bedroom and bath a little separate from the other two bedrooms and bath and a big living room; well-equipped kitchen; lots of windows provide natural light and fresh air; accommodating and responsive owners made booking and visit easy; house was clean.
Minuses: As noted in a previous review, decor and appliances are dated (though all appliances work fine). If you grew up watching the Brady Bunch, and like that set, you will feel right at home. Owners have upgraded the master bedroom mattress and living room TV mentioned in earlier reviews.
We had a great vacation in Estes Park and RMNP, due in part to this rental home. The national park is amazing, and with the aspens turning to gold the vistas were jaw dropping. The location is perfect, being less than 5 minutes from RMNP and downtown. The home is as advertised, with everything we needed inside and great views of the mountains outside. The home may be a little dated, with a 70's feel to it, but we thought that just added to the mountain cabin ambiance. The new TV and easy access to WiFi are a plus. We recommend this home to everyone.
We have rented this same house several years ago and rented again because we love the location and the house. Only 5 minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park entrance and only 5 minutes from downtown Estes Park. House is located on a great secluded property with great mountain view. House is very clean and easily handled six people. We'll stay here again next time we're out west.
Our party of six adults stayed for the week and found everything exactly as pictured. Comfortable beds, clean cooking facilities and a table big enough that we all could sit around it and plan our next day. Conveniently located to both Estes Park and RMNP but quiet at night and awesome views of the stars. We have been to Estes Park many times over the years but this was the best rental we have ever had and will be our first choice from now on.
We (adult family of 5) stayed here 7 days in July of 2015. This was our first time renting online & was a little apprehensive at first but my fears soon abated once we got there. The house is dated in decor somewhat, but very clean. There were plenty of places to sit both inside & out and the view from the patio. . . Breathtaking. I sat out there everyday at some point just to watch the sunset, hummingbirds, clouds or just bask in the beauty of the mountains. You're only minutes away from downtown OR RMNP too which was what we were aiming for. :) Poppy's & Mama Rose's are great eats & if jewelry is your thing, there are some great shops as well! In the Rocky Mountain park, there are multitudes of great trails to hike. The hike to Emerald Lake is great, Bierstadt Lake from Bear lake is great, and Flattop Mountain hike was an awesome accomplishment! It's a tough hike, but well worth it!! The view is OUTSTANDING. Everyone we encountered on that trail was so nice & encouraging. Trail Ridge Road & Old Fall River Road is a sight to see! And also the Visitor Center at the top. VERY busy in the afternoon, so go early or later in the day, or you could be driving in circles looking for a parking spot (we were lucky & got in a spot right away) We watched a sunset up on Trail Ridge Rd one evening & watched the Pika's playing and squeeking :) We drove over to Grand Lake one afternoon and saw a moose in a meadow about 50 yds from the road, that was cool. We ate in Grand Lake at a mexican restaurant towards the end of town, which was for sale & I think Eastern Europeans are running it. (very nice people, but stay away from the salad/taco bar. 3 of us ate from that and all got sick to our stomachs. Coincidence?...maybe)
The owner, Don, was great at getting back to me quickly with any question I had as well. He was most accommodating! We received our damage deposit back w/ a nice thank you card within 5 days of being home!
We would definitely stay here again.
P.S. the one thing I would recommend for the buyers, is to purchase a flat screen t.v. for those few rainy moments or "down time" after climbing a mountain ;)
