Beautiful home; comfortable with plenty of room to move around.

  • 5 of 5

My family of 6 stayed in this home for 8 nights. I can see why they call it "A Five Start Montana Guest House". It had everything we could need and was so clean and comfortable. Though there were six of us we never felt cramped. The home is a very convenient location and is just outside Kalispell and very close to Whitefish and Glacier National Park. We have such a wonderful time.

Good response from owner when booking and the communications were prompt and clear. The place is very nicely decorated in western style. It was a good place to stay.

Probably used to be great, but not as much anymore

  • 2 of 5

This rental property was updated (maybe a dozen years ago is my guess?) with high-end detail in mind. The style and unique features give this the "five star" vacation home it's name. You can tell that originally, a lot of thought was put in to this VRBO. HOWEVER, the attention to detail has lessened over the years.

As we read through the guest book (most comments being very old), we saw only glowing comments for the property and owners. We didn't have the same experience as the "first" renters had though. Instead of walking in to an immaculately clean home, we found areas of filth and neglect. First, we were greeted with a strange smell (that no amount of open windows could air out). Then we started noticing dirty cabinets, a mound of junk in the pantry (about 1/3 of the shelving was filled with old maps, guides, and grocery sacks... I wouldn't even put our groceries in there), bird poop on the windows, dirt in the window and sliding door tracks, dust-covered blankets and sheets on top of closets (not to mention the fact that bedding came tumbling down when you tried to pull it off the closet shelf). Pillows were stained, sheets were pilling, and the bathroom held a graveyard of partially used shampoos and random bath products, but not a single bar of soap. It was like digging through people's discarded junk to find anything to shower with. The welcome packet was a little out-dated as well (protocol for check-in and check-out were different than stated). There was no warm greeting (never got called back after two voicemails- just got a text the night before we left), and got two glares instead of smiles or a simple greeting from a young woman living/staying at the owner's home on the shared property. Also, we never could figure out how to use the beautiful, high-end oven (wish there was a user manual!) and the grill was broken too so we couldn't use that either. All of the games were missing pieces so couldn't be properly played, and the toy box was full of "junk" rather than toys.

Overall, we just felt like a little dirty and unwelcome there. Such a pity since it COULD and SHOULD be an amazing rental. With a REALLY good cleaning and a little organizing (maybe new towels and a fan in the bedrooms too?), this place would be great. I just wish we got the "Five-star" treatment we paid for.

Felt like home!

  • 5 of 5

We visited the Montana guest house with our 2 young children and grandma and grandpa. When we first walked into the house we were immediately taken by the large open space plan and the beautiful kitchen. The living room had enough furniture to seat everyone and our kids found a chest of miscellaneous kid items to dig into. The house had the perfect location - close to all the comforts of Kalispell, but far enough outside the city to enjoy some peace and quiet. Our main reason for staying was to visit Glacier National Park. The house served as a great base camp for our adventures. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the house.
